Years passed and I met Jon Sievert, who had taken the photo, one of my all-time favorites, as the magazine's staff photographer. He gave me the sad news that the negatives were long gone and I could not buy a photo, but he kindly did some scrounging and found me a copy of the actual magazine.
Over the subsequent decades the poor thing has gotten pretty battered. I came across it the other day and figured I should scan it before it got any more decrepit. Still one of my all-time favorite pics.
