This week's program features an interview with Bob Drobatz, aka The Starburst Commander, author of a wonderful memoir titled Confessions of a Dead Head. It’s a quick read, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. He got on the bus in 1974 and drove a van called The Orange Barrel. Freaks of a certain vintage will recognize the reference.

You can read an excerpt from the book on my blog – and while you're there, please read the comments below the entry.

This isn’t a deeply analytical memoir – just the warmly told story of some wonderful times. I’d like to see a hundred more books like this, ’cause every one of us has a similar set of

    experiences.

Also: the first part of an excellent unreleased GD set from the summer of 1982.

    Enjoy!
