About Me

I went to my first Dead show in Oakland at the HenryJ. Kaiser for a Mardi Gras show around 1988. This wizardly man kept appearing everywhere while my friends and I were in the park walking around before the show, looking for tickets and mushrooms. Finally this wizard (think Sauramonesque!) approached me to ask if I had a ticket to the show, which I did not. "Would you like a backstage pass?" he inquired. This was my first show, first backstage pass and first mushroom trip ! A lot of firsts !! I went to the pre- party backstage and met Joan Biaz and her son, and the Dead among others who I didn't know yet. I was very young. It was Alice in Wonderland that night. So magical ! Even the water in the park looked like an enchanted blue lagoon! I came out of the show with a giant glittering four leaf clover which I used to sleep on that night in the park with the rest of my Nevada City,ca. crew!! I remember IKO IKO being played that night. A big Mardi Gras float sweeping through-, being covered with beads, tons of them, and carrying a big four leaf clover around the rest of the night!!

Looking for

I am looking for the exact date of the Mardi Gras concert in 1988. Pictures, video would be amazing. Anyone from Northern cal, anyone who was backstage, anyone who was at this show, I'd love to share experiences!! Copy of the poster or anything from that show would be groovy! Hey Wizard , remember me !! Are you out there !!?
