    RI Auditorium Gig
Also my first. Was exactly 1 week before my 18th b-day. I actually WORKED at this gig. Wore a cigar-smelly red cardigan sweater with pigeon shit on it that that they gave all the ushers at the auditorium. It was a strange trip for me because at that time I was a straight kid but loved good music. I helped a lot of people find, and re-find, their seats on the floor. Stood right below stage right and looked up at these whacky bastards for 3 hours. 6 months later I enrolled at URI and became a Dead Head for life. Now 58 and have over 700 of their songs on my iPod that I bounce through while doing yard work, etc. Retired but still kicking - love these guys.

The Rhode Island Auditorium show 4/21/74
This was the first Dead show I attended. As awsome as I expected and seeing Pig Pen was a treat that I didn't realize I was watching. Sorry G, I was also 17 and my dad was waiting till I got home and the concerrt was over by 11:00 PM. That's the law in RI and I was in bed by 12. I don't know what you were smoking, I had the primo Colombain, but 2 or 3 wouldn't do down in a town like Providence. Maby you forgot to change your watch? Peace, BB

Lady Di First GD concert I ever attended, 17 years old. Just arrived back in town from Italy - was on severe jet lag and became totally blown away by what I was hearing. Small venue in an old ice skating arena. If only I could have that one night back to relive!....that was when there were no union rules and the band played 'til probably 2 or 3am. Couldn't believe it!. Totally changed my life! Turned into a confirmed Dead Head - here I am at 54 years and still smiling when I think about that night. Pigpen was awesome!
