It was like seeing the Dead

It was like seeing the Dead in your high school gym; this place was a dump.

yeah

it was like seeing the dead in your high school gym, WOOHOO. no seats, not sold out, 5th show in 7 or 8 nights, nothing but fun and then at the end of the show jesus-freaks everywhere. a Great night and my 2 minutes of deadhead fame. check out the book "The Official Book of Deadheads" 2 page layout right after the Dead, beginning of the book. picture of a group of us from Cleveland Ohio was taken in front of the hall that night for the local paper (usual story, why are you folks following the Dead around).

Great show ! Grand Center

Great show ! Grand Center only held 5,000 people & I would guess that only 3000 were there. I took my 16 year old son to the show & he had fun - fun ragging on me 'cause I was dancing with a young lady of about 19 for almost the whole show ! I was an old man of 32 at the time !

only GR show

I'm curious how people dug this show; I'm originally from Grand Rapids. Very religious town. I was not there; lived in MO at the time. One friend said he was there and was glad to finally see the Dead, but not a banner concert as he put it.
Grand Rapids does weird things: they got 'The Far Side' removed from the Sunday funnies because one time the comic made fun of the concept of Hell. ????? Then the day after the Columbine massacre dozens of protesters were outside a Marilyn Manson concert screaming at concertgoers telling them they were going to Hell. One of the protesters had an 8' tall wooden cross. Sure makes me want to go to a church.
But someone told me that the Dead were thereafter banned from Grand Rapids because a dead head bathed in the fountain near the Gerald Ford museum (whew, mortal sin there, heh heh). The set list for that show looks impressive, although I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to the Dead.
