Hotter than heck out in KS
Hotter than heck out in KS on the fourth of July. . . Tons of fireworks in the parking lot, and plenty on the stage too! Brent was mighty fired up for the Gimme Some Lovin'- strutting around behind his Hammond like his fingers were gonna melt the keys!!!
". . . Music is the best!" (fz)
UFO
Did anyone else see the UFO? I heard a lot of people talking about it!!! And "not" talking about it! Or was that the next summer? I get those shows confused!
First time I ever saw Jerry
First time I ever saw Jerry wear shorts, it was fucking hot, first day of summer tour, I had my whole summer tour stack of tickets in my wallet. I got so high that I forgot about my wallet and sat in the middle of a field of lawn sprinklers. My stack of tickets got soaked and stuck to each other. The whole rest of the tour I had to peel off the ticket from the stack and explain this everywhere I tried to get in. I remember having to dodge fireworks in the parking lot this night, very traumatic when you're still peaking !! John Taperscum and Patty were my summer tour fellow travelers!!
1st show for my Bus!
My 84 International Harvester purple and green school bus kicked off it's 1st summer tour here after a dozen or so of us drove it from DC. Ran for 30,000 more miles and crossed the country 3 or 4 times.
It said "We Love You Brent" on the back if any of y'all remember it. If you do, feel free to say hello.
Just barely
Trekked with 3 other dudes in a freakin Yugo with no AC and NO TIX! from Co Springs. We barely made it in at the last minute. Ended up having a complete blast. What a trip.
The abridged version: 118
The abridged version:
118 heat index, mad manson guy flipped out over lost somethin, black balloons, a castle, the wheel, US blues, more balloons, rental car turbo new, after show we blew the engine i guess, a gross of beer, a Michigan flag on a car and a tube offered, at a bailbondsmans in OK city on layover on the way but no one in jail, a boat shop, security grabbing my bag at my ankle in my sock but said nuthin, we had a miracle ticket for someone, anyone, no one wanted it cause we left it on the dash and the heat made it look like a fake, Leroy Shakespeare guitarist, my buddy laying out his 10'x10' blanket right in front of Brent who laughed and laughed, the venue nazi on stage right didn't, my visine passed around 100 people and made it back, suckered by after show food (again) of pastry filled with frozen peas and fake potatos, oh and we almost killed Phil on the way in... but thats another story. Great Show!
Should have seen the long version. Oh and the music was thumpin too ; )
I remember Jerry's shorts
My more experienced fellow travelers got a big hoot out of that.
This was my first show. I remember the heat - got the worst sunburn of my life. Blisters on my shoulders and trying to track down Solarcain that night. The venue was aptly named Sandstone - the lot was like a vast desert - no shade.
I have a dimple in my cheek, and I was smiling all day long. So I was red as a lobster with a white comma on my face for days after.
As for the concert, I only really remember the encore, dancing around with my little flag.
I remember the brent bus
Of course I remember it... but I may not remember everyone's names. But I am sure if I was reminded of them I would.
Let's see...
Tommy, Eric, Kevin, Pete, me (Mike), Marcy (Jolly), Karen, Rain, Yaby..although we lost her in L.A. Lenny, Kenny and Jenny, Cami,
and much more.. I got on in Buffalo NY in '91 and I will never forget that itme of my life, truly it's what makes your very soul... although I was lost when I got on.. I found myself like they say, but then I got off and only to get even more lost... at least now I limit my destinations somewhat or I bring a map.
wow... do I miss those times.. feel free to message me.
Hot, Hot, Hot 2nd row seats, Brent looked lonely and lost
Took a friend to her first and only show. I mean the Dead are NOT Jon Bon Jovi. Anyway afterwards she said, quote "He doesn't have a very good voice" referencing Jerry I guess. Headed back to KC Westport area and 10 freaks crashed out on the front lawn. Next morning a road crew got a real kick out of starting up a few huge machines next to all these freaks.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
Caught this show after doing
Caught this show after doing Sandstone and Eugene and camping out in Yellowstone . Yeah it was hot it was Kansas and Jerry wore cut off jeans. Nothing else stands out about this show other than the US blues encore and maybe that Loser. Was there fireworks after this show?????
