Yes, that was his name. I remember his parents had a running ad in Relix asking for info. Very sad but not surprising. When I was seeing the Dead in those days, I was with a guy who was 6'6" at least and close to 300 pounds. I remember watching the goons going after others who were slight of build for drinking beer, but Bernie was as big or bigger than the goons so they never bothered us. Very sad and stressfull situation. I am convinced that the goons killed that kid. I am originally from the East Coast and was used to heavyhandedness by guards and cops. I remember now the picture of Adam, very much like someone who those goons would attack. Not one of my best memories, but I have thought of Adam often over the years. Definitely a cover up, have had my own problems in NJ due to attending Dead shows.
