30 Days of Dead
It's a Dead Head's most wonderful time of the year! Welcome to another 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, one for every day of the month, selected by archivist and producer David Lemieux. The tracks are yours, 100% free gua-ran-teed, but the real fun is taking part in the challenge for the chance to win some sweet swag from the Dead.
Those of you who know what to do, feel free to skip right on ahead. For those of you who need a refresher, here's the drill:
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70s show? Each day we'll post a song from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? If you think you know, lob your answer in and you just might find yourself taking home our daily prize of a 2025 Grateful Dead wall calendar or the grand prize – a copy of limited, numbered, FRIEND OF THE DEVILS: APRIL '78 boxed set!
"Steve,"presuming Parish, roadie for Jerry, but so much more, is spoken by Jerry at about one minute and fourteen seconds, probably to address some tech issue. "Bill," presuming Graham, but possibly Kreutzman, is spoken by Bob(Weir) a little furthur into the song, but not sure why? It's a first ever to me as I have never heard either call out names like that which weren't part of the "normal" lyrics. Kind of a funny hint.......maybe.
There's only one spelling for today's venue as far as I know.......but I'm also very nearsighted.
Vince narrows it.
The coder nails it!
Chalk this one up with that "uncle_winterland" fella?
Truthfully it really made what should've been an excruciatingly tough song to find amongst a myriad of possibilities beyond extremely easy. Like a Brent tune, Easy to Love You!
Turkey in roaster, potatoes all a boil, jello in mold, and my young boy - my oldest, got in the fold making mac n cheese. I thought I would make super quick work of this one but started on the wrong end of the spectrum. Listened more closely and then tuned into the right era and after getting everything set for the feast to come found time to pick up the nuances I had missed first thing in the morning when my headache was strong. That two inch put for me was more like a 20ft par but I did sink it. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Now I'm really curious. Do tell!
If you left now you'd be here in time for dessert, lol. Just as well, as I don't have the good Alabama pecans yet this year. Should have them for X-mas though.
Yes, what will Dave do for the penultimate day of 30 Days? (just had to use that word again)
Cheers
