30 Days of Dead
It's a Dead Head's most wonderful time of the year! Welcome to another 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, one for every day of the month, selected by archivist and producer David Lemieux. The tracks are yours, 100% free gua-ran-teed, but the real fun is taking part in the challenge for the chance to win some sweet swag from the Dead.
Those of you who know what to do, feel free to skip right on ahead. For those of you who need a refresher, here's the drill:
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70s show? Each day we'll post a song from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? If you think you know, lob your answer in and you just might find yourself taking home our daily prize of a 2025 Grateful Dead wall calendar or the grand prize – a copy of limited, numbered, FRIEND OF THE DEVILS: APRIL '78 boxed set!
Response to "deadeyedawd",lyrics/vocals....You know,I was in the parking lot of the Keystone in Palo Alto, at a Jerry Show, and some guy said something to Jerry like that?Jerry said,"Don't take it so seriously man,I did not even write the words"......So,if you get confused, listen to the music play!!!!
Love that story man. Sounds like your mama was not like other girls.... other girls.... Thanks for sharing the memories
I totally enjoy that some work on here is short, even shorter if the songs are from a show I had attended. I had to tell my mom I'd be traveling to see the Grateful Dead again. Mom, I am catching seven shows this time but will be back to celebrate your birthday. Her birthday was the day following this show here. I called her the next morning to wish her a Happy Birthday and she asked how the shows were so far. Answering last night's opener made me think of you, then the closer made me think of dad. I miss them both today, but this show was extremely right for that time.
About 20 minutes of screening, and BOOM, got it on first try. Only 2 wrong so far this year, plus 6 days had no time to even listen let alone guess (work gets in the way of everything). Another great 30 days drawing near its bittersweet end. What a blast! Peace and Love to you all!
Much to be Grateful for here. Thanks!
