30 Days of Dead
It's a Dead Head's most wonderful time of the year! Welcome to another 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, one for every day of the month, selected by archivist and producer David Lemieux. The tracks are yours, 100% free gua-ran-teed, but the real fun is taking part in the challenge for the chance to win some sweet swag from the Dead.
Those of you who know what to do, feel free to skip right on ahead. For those of you who need a refresher, here's the drill:
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70s show? Each day we'll post a song from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? If you think you know, lob your answer in and you just might find yourself taking home our daily prize of a 2025 Grateful Dead wall calendar or the grand prize – a copy of limited, numbered, FRIEND OF THE DEVILS: APRIL '78 boxed set!
I cherish November for the last 13 yrs, mainly because I am given 30 new dates to explore. Where some may be recycled, all are new to me every time as my memory isn’t as spectacular as some claim on this site. This is another Phil in the mix and smacking it gem. Just as the night before as it has made its 30DoD appearance a ways back. Enjoy!!! And thanks this is some straight joy!!
nothin makes me more stoked every November than seeing one of the OGs from our lil 30 Days of Dead Fam win & if my oldass can read yer dead dot net "handle" & know yer avatar immediately (Morning Dew like Mt. Dew!) than you clearly an OG so again, congrats Fam ❤️ long overdue...
Congrats Jamgol! Way to persevere. Yes you will get an email eventually, maybe a couple three weeks. Everybody keep on Truckin'. I've won a calendar once in 8 years of playing. So much fun! Have a grateful day of thanks everyone!
This year, listening to Arlo’s Thanksgiving staple, his annual rendition of Alice’s Restaurant Massacree, will be especially poignant, as Alice Brock, remember Alice, passed away 2 days ago at the age of 83. Previously of Sturbridge, she later moved to Provincetown at the tip of the cape. I’m sure many of us can recite several portions of the song, just as we can sing along with so many of the GOGD songs. “You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant, excepting Alice, You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant, walk right in, it’s around the back, just a half a mile from the railroad track, You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant”
I don’t mind ‘em. I’ve listened to Dick’s Picks 28 and 29 dozens of times and I’ll never get tired of them.
