30 Days of Dead
It's a Dead Head's most wonderful time of the year! Welcome to another 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, one for every day of the month, selected by archivist and producer David Lemieux. The tracks are yours, 100% free gua-ran-teed, but the real fun is taking part in the challenge for the chance to win some sweet swag from the Dead.
Those of you who know what to do, feel free to skip right on ahead. For those of you who need a refresher, here's the drill:
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70s show? Each day we'll post a song from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? If you think you know, lob your answer in and you just might find yourself taking home our daily prize of a 2025 Grateful Dead wall calendar or the grand prize – a copy of limited, numbered, FRIEND OF THE DEVILS: APRIL '78 boxed set!
From The SetList Program. Def messed me up.
Pretty sure Dave has nothing to do with moderating the chat section of 30 days of dead and clearly no one is watching over the chat except us. As a whole, the community is doing a great job, could the dead net folks give some power to a few mods that could delete specific posts, maybe but for now we are on our own and doing a pretty good job of it.
i love this site...30 days of white gum.
it has so many links and ways to research songs, lyrics, discographies, shows...lots of things to explore. Helped me find the days show more than once.
Happy not to have to scroll too far today.
Great venue, spent many shows there
I asked the same question a few weeks ago. I was told Bruce was asked to "join" the band officially (not sure what that entails) or kindly stop touring, Bruce choose to stop touring. I agree an honorable mention should be handed to Bruce as he bridged a gap and allowed the band to continue to tour after Brent's passing. Officially Bruce was not "member" but he did play over 100 shows with the Dead and allowed the circus to continue. In my heart Bruce played a big role, Officially he was not a member, I hear.
OMG another BURNER. These 3 tunes are White Hot, energy, passion and emotion. Great versions of each song I mean Great.
