30 Days of Dead
It's a Dead Head's most wonderful time of the year! Welcome to another 30 days of unreleased Grateful Dead tracks from the vault, one for every day of the month, selected by archivist and producer David Lemieux. The tracks are yours, 100% free gua-ran-teed, but the real fun is taking part in the challenge for the chance to win some sweet swag from the Dead.
Those of you who know what to do, feel free to skip right on ahead. For those of you who need a refresher, here's the drill:
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70s show? Each day we'll post a song from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? If you think you know, lob your answer in and you just might find yourself taking home our daily prize of a 2025 Grateful Dead wall calendar or the grand prize – a copy of limited, numbered, FRIEND OF THE DEVILS: APRIL '78 boxed set!
Is anyone getting this on Day 4 for Dark Star? Day 1 was changed from MP3 to WAV, but Day 2 & 3 are still MP3. I wish you'd stay with one format - the quality control this year is awful.
Thank you for upgrading these to .wav format. It is very welcome
anyone else unable to add the name of the song, contributing artist, etc. in the dark star song file? not sure if it is a WAV file thing or what. have always been able to edit the song info. anyone else? thx!
update: so i redownloaded the 1st 3 days since the files were updated to WAV and I am unable to edit any info on those either. is there something special I need to do? working on a normal windows laptop. thx!
This re-upped - this and all others going forward (I'm writing on 11/04) seem to be in 16bit / 44.1kHz .wav format. Must be something that @grootna said :-)
This is a special show for a friend of mine as he was born on this day. Another big crushing set and possibly underrated. My friend and I both play along with thousands of DEADHEADS each day. When each day comes to a close, we talk and compare our search history. Another reason why THE GRATEFUL DEAD is a must listen, the whole community from top brass to the youngest fan can put a smile on anyone's face. This is our way of staying in touch with each other. The birthday thing between us, as times GD played on our BD's just 4 on mine and 7 on his. I can't wait for his call tonight.
PEACE & LOVE
