    Favorite Venues
Yeah, favorite venues. Great idea! For me it would be the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago (acoustically perfect) and Alpine Valley Music Theatre, an outdoor venue in Wisconsin.

    Venues!
We always speak of the years and band formations and specific shows we'd like to find released. Just a mention that there are also many fabulous, storied venues which are unrepresented by official releases. This would be a perfect year to address that. The two that top my list: Red Rocks, CO The Avalon ballroom

    Longshoreman's Hall 4-24-66
Viola Lee Blues ; Midnight Hour (Midnight Hour is A+) BIODTL and a few other songs, plus a Jam with I believe Jorma and Jack Cassady. Seems to be very rare stuff. Dicks Picks 16. One of my favorite Dire Wolf and High Time. Wow 1969 shows that need to be considered. Has a lot so I will leave out box set stuff/compilation material runs like Ark, Avalon, other Fillmore West/East 2-7-69 Stanley Theater 2-22-69 Dream Bowl 3-28-69 Modesto 10-25-69 Winterland 11-2-69 Family Dog 11-7-69,, I think all these shows have Dark Star and plenty of other treats to offer. And anything from December 26-31, 1969. I will also take 1-2-70. The Dark Star is that good

Yes...it's horrible. Must be a lot of heads on the 101 cashing in on a few of their Apple of Google options or shares - what do they care - it's only money. Okay...only kidding there. But not kidding regarding the stupid money people are paying for tickets that aren't even tangibly in hand. Time to be going down the road, feeling sad...

As my buddy said after being shut out of TM and seeing the raping that was taking place on Stubhub, "Jerry would be pissed man, he's gotta be so mad, I bet he's so mad, he doesn't even show up!" Remember, there will be tapers there and as the big guy used to say, once it's left his instrument, it's free for the masses...keep an eye on LMA for the shows to pop up (Tapers, we the unlucky, are counting on you!)

All these tickets on Stub Hub and Ebay are all shitty seats. A lot of scumbags selling but i also believe dead heads that got 4 tickets are selling 2 for the huge profits to pay their way. Sure, you can say "all the power to them" but if they were not the lucky ones they would be pissed. I saw the band over 75 times with Jerry and at least 15 more variations after. JFK or Rich Stadium sucked, never went back to a Stadium show after 1984. Sound sucked and the band were pin pricks in any seat. This is a joke and big money waster. $39.95 to see Jerry, $5000 to see nothing, no brainer, stay home and play some real Jerry from the 70's!!! Gonna pull out the Grateful Dead Movie and have a party!!!

Next ebay auction due in 1 hour, 2 3day passes at about $475per ticket per night ($2,800)I don't see anyone bidding on the crazy prices. $475 is not a good price but its not 10x face either.

If the comment about the email from GDTS is true or not...why have they not posted anything official? I may be a fool, but I have to keep the faith until the I see a pinky or email or official posting at least. I know I had my email on the card. It is short and I took 5 minutes to be sure it was legible.

Ok fellow shut outs, as I see it, the prices HAVE to come down. There are nearly 5,000 tickets (of 210,000) still for sale. So either the prices come down or there are 4,815 people left with their dicks in their hands...at the current going rate, that means around $50 k left on the table...this is JUST stubhub alone - forget eBay. The vultures will have to adjust now that the initial panic of not being there starts to abate. Keeping in mind that this is only 2.3% of the total tickets, so not all people (in fact only a small percentage) are assholes. I am still hopeful. I am also sure that those of us who hang out in the parking lot with our cardboard signs will find some kind people who had friends who could not make it for one reason or another. Lets keep the faith brothers and sisters, and if they don't, I am still happy seeing the various incarnations of the band. Remember it is the music that brings us together, not just the event (though that is a huge part too...)

For viewing and listening pleasure, here is my African Cichlid Fish Tank with an 8 minute jam of Eyes of the World before Jerry starts to sing. Yes, 8 minutes of jamming before the lyrics. I believe the longest one ever, unless anyone can correct me if I am wrong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnSvD-NvZWs

Not all - in fact, looking at the numbers, 536 are floor, so around 10% of that 2% and there are a lot of seats still in the stands with views, just not 3 day pass seats with views...the 3 day passes are all behind the stage playing peek-a-boo.

There is a rumor about an email from elvis@gdtstoo.com stating if you didn't get an email you will not get tickets. I have not heard or read on any forum that a mass email or multiple emails were sent out stating as such. Besides not sending a mass email or reports of several people with the email, why wouldn't they officially update their html update page? It seems if there were zero tickets or confirmations left to be fulfilled, they would update that page. It would only take a few seconds. I can't help but think there is still some hope. It could be that they are still sorting through how many GA pit tickets are available. I know from concerts past that estimates are made in advance, but even on day of show the fire Marshall makes adjustments and tickets have been released. I'm holding out hope. Second, as far as people still droning on about how this was all a scam, or money grab, or scalpers got all the tickets, or Ticketmaster got all the tickets for the aftermarket... none of it is true. The info is out there. Two thirds of all tickets went to GDTS. The rest went to Ticketmaster which included the packages, VIP, Chicago Bears, and Saturday's on-sale. As of yesterday afternoon, only 2.86% of all seats for 3 nights (5997 seats) were available at Stubhub and that does not take into account multiple posts at different prices to get higher prices and fake or short selling posts. Most brokerages overlap from SHub to Ticketsnow to Vividseats, etc, etc. The reason there are very limited of the best seats available on the aftermarket is due to the fact that a majority of the best seats in the house went to GDTS and thus the fans. In conclusion, the vast majority of tickets went to fans and there is only an extremely small percentage of tickets on the aftermarket. If you didn't get tickets, it's simple due to demand. There isn't a secret supply going to rich guys or or connected aftermarket sites. You can blame the remaining members of the Dead for only playing 3 nights, but really? Do they really owe us anything? Do they owe us a full tour? A free concert? No, they don't owe us a thing. We're lucky they're still alive and doing 3 nights.

I want to add two new points that have not been mention in the last couple of days or weeks.... 1. Once tickets are distributed in June, I would bet my last dollar that counterfeit tickets will come into play. With today's tech savvy criminals, there will be thousands of these tickets for sale. That GA Pit ticket at $100 face will go for $400 or $500 for a quick sale. Some regular fan who did not want to pay a couple of thousand is going to be taken. Right now these individuals are planning, designing, doing the criminal thing. 2. I think we are all in agreement 210,000 plus tickets where sold. How many people do you still are going to show up. Ratio of 5 to 1; maybe a MILLION. You will have every Deadhead, wannabe hipster, pot dealer, I want one, I mean anyone and everyone who wants to be part of the scene in attendance outside Soldier field. Chicago will not know what hit them till it is to late. I have read over thousand posts in a couple of threads on this site. Everyone is in agreement that there are opportunities with the way things where handle between 1/20 and 2/28. Does anyone think it will be any better the first week in July. This will be "Project X" for baby boomers. Think about all the bad scenes at concerts over the last 30 or 40 years. This is my fear. I will be there with my wife to celebrate the end of the long strange trip, but one eye will be open to make sure things go right. Don't want a bad acid trip. I know this is a downer, but this 50 year celebration seems to miss the step time after time. Why should I think any different in June or July. I am still hopeful for that magic email from GDTSTOO. I am still hopeful for two on Sunday. I am still hopeful for peace this July. Peace out........

Well, well, well, looks like I'm not the only one who is feeling the pain of being ButtF%$#%$ by "our band". You can make this right, shitpario and the rest of you core 4, add more shows, easy. Is this band so special that they can only play 3 shows? Why? Too old? Add more shows you guys, and all will be forgiven. Or not, and pay the piper. One would think that if this was MY legacy I would want it to go out really fine, not this shit. So man up you guys, do more shows in New York city, Miami, LA and San Francisco, just do it. If shitpario is so good, then prove it, make this happen, or your legacy will be shit. Do the right thing and stop thinking about your self, we are just as much part of this band as you and I think you should remember that, Phil, Bobby, Mickey and Billy, without us, you would be a footnote in Jerry's Biography. Or did you forget that?

I thought that was odd, too, to do pre-sale to Bears fans. I'm guessing they may have had to do it as part of some agreement with Soldier Field. And I wonder if those are some of the astronomically priced tickets we're seeing now on all these sites??

Just to set the record straight, only Bears season ticket holders in the club level were given the opportunity to purchase tickets presale. They were allowed to purchase 2 tickets per show, or what boils down to how many seats they have (four season tix = 4 tix per show, etc). I don't know how many ticket holders there are in the club level, but it's not as many as you are thinking, I guarantee that. Bears season tickets holders must buy a PSL (personal seat license) on top of the cost of the season tickets. The Club level members must also then pay an additional fee on top of the PSL & season ticket cost. I don't see how this is any different than somebody who has season tickets to say Alpine Valley, or perhaps The World Music Theatre (whatever it's called these days). Had the show been held at a regular concert venue, season ticket holders from that venue would likely have been allowed to preorder GD tickets as well. It goes with the territory of supporting that venue or some special club at said venue.

The "email" claiming to be from ELVIS/GDTS-TOO that stated all requests have been filled was posted here yesterday. I copied it and sent to a friend. Here it is: Sun 3/01/15 Hi folks, If you did not receive an email informing you that you are a lottery winner, then your money orders are on their way back to you asap. Elvis and the GDTSTOO Crew _______end____ Funny thing is, it's subject line was: MESSAGE FROM THE FUTURE and the ELIVS "email" was timestamped 8 hours AFTER the message was posted to dead.net. (I didn't get the ELVIS timestamp on my copy.) Merry Pranksters abound.... I am in limbo with GDTS-TOO and believe that they are still processing tickets. Personally, while the TM sale was absurd and sad (due mostly to the record-breaking sale, NOT a conspiracy involving the band, I think), I do find the dark mystery about tickets that is created by GDTS and the awesomeness of the event to be a wild ride. There are rays of hope for anyone who hasn't received a pink slip. It's a long and strange trip, remember? Nothing guaranteed, just a roll of them bones.

Until I actually get my MO back I'm not giving up. Why not hold out until I KNOW for a fact it's over. If indeed I don't get tickets I will let someone who does take my room. Of course I can't help but wonder if my request even made it to CA. That's the sucky part. No ill feeling for the band..I wouldn't want to go at all if I didn't love these guys. No negativity maybe huge disappointment if I don't make it but that's the bottom line..keep checking in to see if there is more than speculation

I don't know, very conflicted. I know and understand there being anger and frustration, but the band was never the main attraction. It's always been about the community of people who gathered around them and our shared beliefs and culture. 1) don't blame the band or anyone else. We should be happy that there are so many of us...more than anyone really knew. 2) GDTS should release some kind of a statement. Too many people in limbo (myself included). I'm sure there is a reason, but silence is letting everyone else dictate the narrative. 3) wait out the scalpers . Prices will come down. It's the heat of the moment. By June they will be the ones sweating. 4) if you believe what I said at the top, come to Chicago. Have fun whether you get in or not, but leave the negativity behind. It's only 3hrs out of the day. You can make the other 21 hrs special. Celebrate the community. Hopefully Chicago will welcome us like Oxford, ME did. Maybe you will get lucky. Miracles do happen. 5) everything here could be wrong.

There is no avoiding that the Dead got “too” popular in the mid-80s and thereafter. Even if they toured more people would have been left out than included. Part of that is the culture, we don’t go to a show, we want to go to all the shows. So the letdown of many is inevitable. What was avoidable was the long drawn out torture of those who sent in mail orders, pouring their hearts into decorating letters for rejection, having significant funds tied up for unreasonably long, beyond the online ticket sale date. Don’t know that I could have done better, but these are pros, they should have known better. I’m so glad I decided to shine it on as soon as I heard about the intimate venue they selected. They mathematically couldn’t make everyone happy, but they didn’t have to prolong the agony.

I so appreciated your post! I had my doubts to its validity and you confirmed. It's difficult to wait..but a hell of a sight easier then that stupid little wheel onTM. I felt like a hampster! A lot more hopeful until they post word that's over. No last call yet. And prices will go down. I've done okay in the last 20 years but could never afford or be willing to drop that kind of cash to a scalper. Reminded me of a show I did buy a bogus ticket but they kept us waiting so long when they opened the doors the crowd just carried me in. I think it was Hampton but not sure. 1984 maybe..I've slept since then so not sure.

I debated about posting Elvis' reply to my question about no pinky and no email, and request for status update because I didn't want to crush anyone's hope. I would copy the whole thing and post it but don't want my email in there because it has my work address and there are is one nut bag on here i would rather not give any info. too...curious if more people email will they get the same answer. Their lack of a statement on their site makes me hope they are still sorting out some orders and checking their lists. Anyway, I checked the time stamp and it was about two hours after I sent the status update request. And it was disappointing to read, if you haven't gotten an email yet we are working on returning MO's asap. However, I still don't want to give up hope until I actually get them in the mail. There is no reason to think they may not release more tickets and perhaps once they actually start to fill the orders they may notice that people didn't listen to directions about sending in only one envelope. I sent one envelope (but even that I can see where maybe they meant multiple requests for the same night, seems open to interpretation). Here is my latest fantasy, the Boys employee some people to track down the people scalping their mail order seats and never send their tickets and give them to the people who are in limbo instead. It would be lovely to see Karma work swiftly here!

Until they update their page or I myself get an email saying your MO's are being returned, I have a bit of hope. Even if I don't get tickets, I'm going and it's going to be awesome. Very few tickets are in the hands of scalpers meaning I'm sure I'll get a ticket to at least one night. I'll have fun with the circus in the parking lot without being part of any problem such as gate crashing, etc. If strangers around me start acting up, I'll leave. Hopefully, Grant Park will have it on a big screen like they do for movies in the park every other week during the summer. I can go to after shows with dead bands and see old friends. I can't wait. Even if I don't have seats all 3 nights, it's going to be a helluva party in the museum district of downtown Chicago. :)

You make it seem like the ticket allocation system was very flawed. Until they prove its not and the MO situation is cleared up and better seating is starting to appear in bulk. A lot of folks are still in the dark. For the most part I agree with what your saying. Some of the behind the scene deals with tickets get to the highest of events. World Cup last year was plagued with inside jobs. I don't know much about Shapiro. But right now he's looking like Sepp Blatter at the soccer game

Listen man, I think we all agree that the band has always flown by the seat of their pants. Scully was the master of it. What I am having a lot of trouble actually buying into (as someone who was completely shut out) is that the band had anything to do with it. They have a history of letting other people take care of the stuff outside of the stage. This is a fact. NOW whether Shapiro wanted to milk as much as he could, I'm sure he does. That is his business, he is a promoter, and as such, his job is to make as much money as he possibly can and do as little as possible. Personally, I am getting tired of your ranting and raving, and furthermore, I am not sure that playing I fought the law while people are teargassed is instigation. Certainly doesn't sound like Limp Bizkit playing Break Stuff at "Woodstock III", THAT is inciting a riot. The band is (now) four guys that are, quite honestly very old and really don't need any money. Bobby has a ton in publishing, Phil, well Phil has been on the road for 50 years, Billy and Mickey, sure, they could always need some cash but the couple hundred million that they are making from these shows I am sure will suffice. (I realize they don't see it all but the percentage that they will see from the 3 shows off of tickets will be more than enough. So man, give it a rest, quit trying to fan the flames and stay off the meth, it is seriously clouding your judgement and giving us all here a headache. OR if you are serious and think that you are onto something, hire a lawyer and file charges with a lawsuit afterwards.

How many days have you been awake on meth? Seriously. So which is it? Gate crashing is good or bad? If I keep probing you then perhaps you might become coherent.
