The basic idea is that someone starts (seeds) a vine, made up of one or multiple shows, and sends it via mail to the first person who signs up. This is a single flac DVD that will unbundle to 13 CDs. (Sorry no wav CDs) Sources include soundboards, radio broadcasts, and audience recordings, and you can see special guests often sit in with the Doctor for some bayou boogie and to help spice up the gumbo. I just got these in the mail and it is easier to burn multiple discs than it is to go back later and re-rip, so here is another 'stache vine. Caveat: I haven't listened to those shows yet so I cant' really vouch for them, but I am sure that most are at least good and that there is a gem or two in here. I looked through the Vindex and omitted the shows that were listed, and I apologize if I include anything that wasn't listed but has been vined. There will be 11 shows in SHN/FLAC format on 3 DVD's. Moving the discussion from the New Vines to Meta-Topic Yes, Destach these are all shn/flac and they sound as clear and crisp as ANY recording I have heard. So jump back in and get in on this one. You do not want to miss it! (Caveat- I have not listened to the 4/27/71 yet. It was still downloading when I posted this vine) Hi, CB, yes I got wrapped up in the excitement of these shows. I felt that this group needed access to them, ASAP. If you would like to do the 24 bit, be my guest or I can do them and save you the postage (and time). Sorry to have been so hasty and presumptuous to think that I was the only guy who would do this. Once again life’s little lessons show me room for improvement. Stuman, If you can get the 24 bit to work in your DVD, way cool. I have not gotten that far. I know others have and I would like to but I have not invested the time into finding a solution. I will let you know when I have that one figured out.. I will get these out on Saturday to whom ever is first on the list. Peace Rick Reach out your hand if your cup be empty If your cup is full may it be again

I haven't listened to the 77 or 80 show yet, but from the notes and what I can find out on the internet, they should be solid. The others are at least good, most very good. Robert Plant's voice comes and goes. On some nights and some songs he is better than on others. Jimmy Page tears it up. The No Quarters from 75 are awesome. As are all the Dazed & Confuseds. First person to sign up, please drop me a PM. Enjoy!

First of all I would love to thank RaymondMBrown who graciously contributed over half the shows on this project. Second I would love to thank The Bus who rules the bit torrent world and provided the Jerry Garcia 1981 Project. All lossless shn/flac files on DVDs that will span all of 1981 when it is all said and done. Part 1 covers Jan - Feb. I believe that is correct. I cannot remember the exact date right now though. I will check my home computer where the files are stored when I get home tonight and get back to you. A one stop shop for all the winter tour shows including Phil's 70th birthday bash in San Francisco. 24 bit versions of a couple of the shows also included in fact the 2/22 show is only in 24b format and if there is interest in this format I can add more to the vine. Anyways this is just an easy way to get the whole tour. Summer tour is coming up! "Here's my half a dollar if you dare .. double twist when you hit the air. There was a request for the spring 90 run. RMB gave me most of the run a while back, I think it was supposed to be a trade but I don't think he ever asked for anything in return, good man. Anyways, I'll vine what I have, post over the weekend. I asked the guy whether SHN/FLAC is ok as I'd prefer to just vine everything and that won't do if he only does WAV. I'm waiting to hear back from him. Unless MaryE objects, I will vine the Albany shows, ensuring that I REMOVE the tracks included on Dozin at the Knick (2d set from the first night, second half of the 2d set on the second night I believe, various 1st set tracks). The Nassau shows were vined a while back so I won't include them (and I don't have them in SHN/FLAC). And of course the Terrapin Limited show will be omitted. I will post over the weekend

Here are 8 shows from the fine Spring 90 tour. Carolina Boy requested it so he will be first. Thanks to RMB for providing the shows. Portions of 3 of these shows have been officially released on Dozin at the Knick, and those tracks have been removed from the discs here. The vine is in SHN/FLAC. Here are 3 more shows from the fall '89 tour. 10/25 and 10/26 are pretty well-known, and 10/19 deserves to be. 10/26 was vined previously (eurovine # 5) but that vine experienced a premature death, and reached few people. I will include both SHN/FLAC (1 DVD) and WAV files (9 CDs). Thanks to RMB for giving me the shows. I grade all 3 as Very Good shows. For what it is worth, of the 29 shows from '89 that I have graded (I have another 5 I haven't graded), I give a Very Good to 13 shows, a Good to 12 shows, and a Decent to 4 shows. I have a difficult time giving a Great to shows from the later years. A Great corresponds to 5 out of 5 stars or close to 10 out of 10. A Very Good is probably 4 to 4.5 out of 5 stars. This DVD contains an audience 'stealth' video/audio labeled from the 12-7-91 Warfield Theater show and contains 7 songs from that evening. It is obvious how special these shows were. Garcia & Grisman DVD Warfield Theater 12-7-91 1. To Sea Once More 2. Friend of the Devil 3. Wind and Rain 4. Arabia (fades out) 5. Sittin' Here in Limbo 6. God rest ye merry gentleman Jam 7. Ripple Jerry Garcia- vocals & guitar, David Grisman- mandolin, Jim Kerwin- bass, Joe Craven percussionist extrodinarie along with violin, etc. Note: this is not a proshot or professional effort, but an audience video recording that gives us a taste of that intimate evening, even with the periodic crowd banter, camera movement or the occasional 'pixilating' of the image. It ain't perfect, but boy is it sweet. I also made some inserts for this 1 DVD. The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.

Dan Lampinski taped a lot of shows in New England in the 1970's. I don't think he ever recorded the Dead, but he captured a lot of great bands. His recordings are only recently being circulated. Here, presented in SHN/FLAC format, on a single DVD, are 5 of his recordings: Styx 11/4/77, Heart 1/27/79, Bruce Springsteen 7/20/75, Yes 8/15/77 and Yes 12/11/74. The Styx and '74 Yes shows (both A AUDs) are especially enjoyable. I grade the sound quality of the Bruce show as A- and the others as B+. Styx are one of those bands that doesn't get as much respect as they deserve. Young people don't know them aside from Mr. Roboto and older people, especially those who loved them at one time, felt betrayed because of Mr. Roboto. But in 1977, this band was at a peak. I love the show. For more info on Dan, Google his name and you can read a cool story about him and why his recordings are coming out. If there is interest, I will seed a Part 2. I am working on acquiring yet another Yes show, and maybe Rush, Supertramp, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jethro Tull and Lou Reed. I can't seem to get the Queen 76 Lampinski recording. If someone has or can get that please let me know.

These came from Arkdeadhead, I just converted them. Both of these shows are audience video footage from a tripod with excellent soundboards synced to them. If any of you have recently purchased the Crimson White and Indigo DVD this vine would make a great companion. Both of these shows were taped a couple of months after the July show and have the same feel. They are in DVD format (5 discs in all) so make sure you can copy them. If you can't and would like them PM me. Enjoy, and thanks Arkdeadhead! Grateful Dead Hampton Coliseum Hampton, VA October 9, 1989 Disc 1 - Set 1 01. Tuning 02. Feel Like A Stranger 03. Here is an offering from the late great west coast taper, Mike Millard. The most interesting tidbit about Millard, in case you haven't heard, is that he would go to concerts in a wheelchair, despite being able-bodied, in order to more easily disguise his equipment and secure a good taping position. I think if you asked a large group of people to name the 5 best rock bands in history, three of the bands included here would make the list: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and the outfit that called itself the greatest rock and roll band in the world, the Rolling Stones. Plus 3 from Yes and 1 from Kansas. The sound and performance quality is almost uniformly top notch. SHN/FLAC files only (the next vine, Pink Floyd, will include WAV, I promise), 3 discs total. Here is what is included: Led Zeppelin 3/24/75, 3/25/75, 3/27/75 The Rolling Stones 7/11/75, 7/13/75 Pink Floyd 4/26/75 Yes 6/23/75, 9/23/77, 9/26/77 Kansas 12/31/77 Note that the Rolling Stones 7/12/75, the second night of the run, is also included, but I do NOT recommend bothering with it, or if you must, at least only convert and burn through Happy. There is a tape flip during You Can't Always Get and a skeevy AUD fills in, then during Happy, the very next song, the Millard recording dies for good and the skeevy AUD continues the rest of the show. It is God-awful. Unfortunately, I did not know this before converting and burning the show, and I burned the disc here before listening to it. But the rest of the stuff is awesome (well, okay, maybe Kansas isn't quite awesome, but even it is enjoyable, and the sound quality is great). Enjoy!

Hey now these two unique shows on 4/25 and 5/22 warrant their own vine. I don’t know what you call them but it is something in between GD and JGB. The line-up is Garcia, Weir, Kreutzman, Hart and John Kahn and on 5/22 Mydland joins the fun (I actually wonder if Brent played 4/25 too). Both are short one set performances but as you may have guessed they are acoustic and exceptionally good. 5/22 is seriously one of the best sounding auds I have ever heard. Plus they play some of my favorite tunes. For example, how many times do you get to hear Dark Hollow? I just found these to be very enjoyable and something a little different. I will include wav and flac files for this one on CD-R’s. Humongous thanks to RaymondMBrown for providing!! Hey if anyone knows the background on these shows I’d love to hear some stories! jg1981-04-25-jgf.mtx.GEMS.103640.flac16 Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Billy Kruetzman, Mickey Hart, John Kahn Berkeley Community Theatre Berkeley, CA April 25, 1981 Acoustic Set Deep Elem Blues Dark Hollow Jack-A-Roe Monkey & The Engineer Friend Of The Devil El Paso Babe It Ain't No Lie On The Road Again Encore Oh Boy jg191-05-22.jgbw.aud.angus-hart.26437.flac16 Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, John Kahn, Brent Mydland, Bill Kreutzmann & Mickey Hart Warfield Theater San Francisco, CA 5/22/81 "Benefit for Nuclear Disarmament" Single Disc (14) 73:25 - Acoustic 01. Here is the last of the promised vines of other bands. 5 shows, 1 DVD of SHN/FLAC files, 10 CDs of WAV files. The shows: 11/16/74, 11/17/74, 6/18/75, 5/9/77, 8/6/80. The SBD recording (A sound quality) of 11/16/74 captures the Dark Side and Echoes portion of the show, and is considered to be perhaps the definitive live version of the Dark Side album. 11/17/74 is a very good AUD (A- sound quality) of the entire show, Raving & Drooling, Shine On, etc, along with Dark Side and Echoes. The source for 6/18/75 is the awesome AUD (A+ sound quality) of Dan Lampinski. Same setlist as 11/17/74. If 11/16/74 is the definitive live Dark Side, then 5/9/77 is the definitive Animals and Wish You Were Here. This is considered to be a great show and the best sound quality of any 77 show in circulation. Oh, and it is from Oakland, so maybe marye or others were at the show????? The AUD of 8/6/80 is just exactly perfect, and the show is considered one of the best performances of the Wall. The band had performed the material enough times that all the kinks were worked out, but not so many times that the band were were becoming bored with the songs. WAVers, please note that the Echoes encores from 11/16 and 11/17/74 are included on a single disc, with the 11/16 version coming first. Thanks marye and enjoy!

I was reticent of starting a vine of this since it is only one show, but I checked the vindex and it has not been vined previously. Additionally it is a MOTB release and the sound is really nice.
