concur, you have got to be careful when you buy new vinyl, some, not all, is just a cd put on vinyl, you must go to the original analog tapes to get the real sound, if not, it's just a cd on record. I play vinyl a lot, and have a lot of records (3000 or so), there are only a few cd's out there that sound as good as my old platters. Of course, you must have a good stereo to play them on and a good turntable and good speakers, if you don't have those, you might as well stick to cd's. I have been eyeing a new mac amp, man, I want it so bad, but the cost is as much as a used car. But I think I will get much more use out of a new amp then I would a used car. Right now I have a nak amp with altec speakers and a B&O turntable, not bad, but needs an update as all are over 25 years old, but still crank out the sounds. It's hard to say goodbye to old friends and that is part of the problem, I love this stereo and am used to the sound it produces, but would love to improve it, if that's possible. On a totally different subject, I have relative house guest that has become a problem, any suggestions as to how to get rid of them? lol any suggestions would be appreciated (no violence please) They are like the thing that wouldn't leave, just hangs around back stabbing and undermining everything that we have worked for. I wish I had never let them move in, but they were in a jam and we decided to try and help out, big mistake.

I too have been picking vinyl lately and am amazed of how many variations there are in different pressings etc. With all the resurgence of vinyl lately opens up labels to put out what I'm learning is not always that great. They press on 180gram colored vinyl and it's pretty enticing but doesn't speak to how it sounds. Many times remasters are not even cut from analog masters but digital copies. Nonetheless is a cool hobby...just have to be careful what you're buying I've found. Steve Hoffman forum is a great resource to learn as well as a handful of guys on youtube. Enjoy!

Try it, you might like it, the second set is one for the ages, with an awesome Drums, Mickey going way out there, into a very visual space with Jerry trippin balls. The spanish jam is like a ride thru the snow covered woods on a sleigh to grandma's house, just beautiful. And of course, the really well done Luck in the Sky with Jerry and Phil laughing and playing beautifully together. Lots of fun, enjoy.

DON’T QUOTE ME: Garcia, before Next Time You See Me: “We’ve got Pigpen here, but we forgot to bring an organ……..”. Lesh, before Bertha: “Hello, Scott Davis, if you’re out there, meet Rick Owen out in front……………..if you’re not out there, forget it”, followed by Weir’s cryptic “Code Seminole, check 3 check 3 check 1, Red Dog over, proceed plan Dakota………………” IMHO: Another show that only rarely gets discussed. It’s a powerhouse, at times uneven, but with some really sublime moments, including the jam at the end of Truckin’, The Other One (which takes us to many different places), and Hard To Handle. In many ways, it sounds more akin to the powerhouse material that was to come in April, than to the material previously played in March. Did the Dead crank up their game for their home town crowd? Hey now all you current and potential vinyl heads. I got back into vinyl about 5 years ago and it's a lot of fun and to these ears rewarding. A cautionary word think lond and hard before you buy. At 1st a lot of stuff looks necessary. But I found that I was buying releases that I would do just as good with a cd. Save your cash for the really good ones # 8 being one of them. It's not that I bought bad ones or I regret some but they're expensive and when starting out everything looks good. Every one's different but I've found for myself the special releases really calling out are the ones I grew up with the new issues I mostly can do with cds. They just released CJ&Fish's 1st 2 in mono and stereo and it's great. Not sure if I'm supposed to do this but soundstagedirect.com is a great source once you buy they regularly send emails with 10 & 20% discounts free shipping over $50 and a no questions asked refund. As to the brick and mortar issue the store I dealt with and spent big money in in the 90's and 00's when I hit a rough patch 10 years ago and my spending retrenched the owner stopped interacting with me.
