Me and some friends from Long Island NY were at the 7/7 show. Went to second nite with no tix. Got to the rocks in the early afternoon and just started to help carry in food off the bands trucks. Then my freinds and i were we were to be staioned to surround the soundboard, and this was all without tix. From the sonudboard in the center of the stadium there is a tunnle that connects to the back stage. Of course back stage with the band was a blast and I'll never forget and we hung with a young Bill Walton on crutches. Bill mentioned "nothing is better than a Dead show." (Bill had just won his first NBA championship a month ealier) Gerry couldn't have been any cooler. He even spoke on the phone to one of our freinds that had to go back to NY and counld'nt stay for the 7/8 show. I walked around an empty red rocks stadium with Phil and a tank of gas, with Phil commenting " can't you hear it, it sounds great". I will never forget those shows for all eternity. This story is all true and then some. I swear on my life. OF COURSE THAT NIGHT AND EVERY NIGHT THEY WERE ALWAYS MAGICAL!!!!!!!!! PEACE NOW END WAR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We came from the Black Hills to the 1st show Friday, for which we had tix, 2nd was SO. 1st show was Amazing! Sat. afternoon we drove to the front gate and the nice cop there said plenty of tickets to be had towards the rocks, some guy with a handful of used looking tix, but they got us in. We came in on the pillar rock side, and there, saving seats for us all day, is our friend AR, who drove the 400 miles after bar closing time to get 6 or 7 row center. 15 mins later the band comes on and they opened with Bertha!!!... What a show.... Terrapin-->SatNite-->Werewolves encore. I knew after this weekend that Red Rocks is a holy place, and lo these decades later still feel this way, my favorite place to see shows!

What an Estimated Prophet!!!! Terrapin with the thunderheads lighting up over the plains behind the stage. Werewolves of London!!! It had been too many years without a Dead Show, this one made up for the lost time. Warf Rat into Franklin's Tower!!! Another show that begs to be released.

Red Rocks is an amazing place to see ANY show but 7/7 and 7/8/78 will always be held dearly in my heart as the first time I ever saw the Dead, met and hung out with Donna, and found "home".
