with tears in my eyes, I'm going to have to turn this one down, on the grounds that the Zappa estate is famously litigious and sharky on intellectual property issues. Google "Zappa estate copyright" and it'll give you some idea. Get me a mommy note from Dweezil and we'll talk, as it were, but history suggests major bad scenes if we do this without the estate's permission, which I seriously doubt would be forthcoming. They don't even let people cover his songs.

Well apart from coming from California, I am not sure that Frank Zappa and the Dead had much in common, but I know there are some Zappa fans in this place, so here is a special new year treat for you. A DVD containing FLACs of five fine Zappa soundboards from the 70s and 80s (all openly traded but some hard to find) with outstanding bands, exceptional music, experimental weirdness, cheesy doowop tunes, massive guitar solos and of course Frank’s special form of humour and ..err...questionable sexual politics. I saw Zappa more times than I did the Dead and he was never less than brilliant. These shows come with three warnings • They are all soundboards, but not perhaps always the high quality recordings you are used to from the Dead. • Do not listen if you or others listening are of a sensitive nature and do not appreciate Frank’s perverted antics. • Hold on to your seat. These are some of the best rock shows ever recorded (IMHO) RIP Frank, a true non conformist and warped genius. I sometimes wonder what he would be saying about the state of the world today. November 23 1974. Michigan State University. Tush tush tush; Stinkfoot; RDNZL; Village of the sun; Echidna’s arf; Don’t you ever wash that thing?; Apostrophe; Penguin in bondage; T’Mershi Duween; Dog meat; Building a girl; Stage banter; Dinah-Moe Humm; Camarillo Brillo; Montana; Dupree’s paradise; Solos>Chunga’s revenge; Encore intros; Oh no; Son of Orange County; More trouble every day. For me this is one of the best shows by anyone ever. October 31 1981 (Late show) Palladium NYC. Mixed SBD. From Frank's last rock and roll tour, when he started playing strange cover versions or rock classics. There will also be a bonus DVD disc with a special treat for Zappa fans This one goes first to iknowyourider as she requested it long ago, but I have only just got round to assembling it. 1. iknowyourider 2. 3. 4.

It just hit me - I probably should have asked first if I can vine Furthur shows?? I assume yes since you can get them easily off the net but when they sell CD's/downloads it feels like I should ask.. "I've stayed in every blue-light cheap hotel. Can't win for tryin. Happy New Year! Vine includes the epic 2 night run at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on Dec 30 & 31 2009. Way too many awesome moments to list here but when they played Pink Floyd's Time my jaw almost hit the floor. Good ol Bobby and Phil can still surprise me after all these years and I love it! Not to mention John's well-played So Many Roads - amazing! I will also include a couple of RatDog shows for the heck of it. As always flac on DVD. All you need is love. Thanks to Ltapilot for sending me this stuff. There is some overlap with 3 old vines, “Early stuff” Vols 1, 2, and 3. But I think those vines have crossed over the river to rest under the shade of the trees. There appears to be an upgrade (no noise reduction) version of 3/18 here. It sounds better than the version I had. The highlights are: 5/5, 10/22, 11/10, and 11/11. Hey now! As you all know Dstache compiled a list of shows from the 1990's recommended by the Compendium. 1992 part 1 will consist of 2 shows from March and the May shows, including the killer Las Vegas run. As mentioned in the Meta-topic, there are still some March shows that would be nice to be vined if someone has them, and 5/21 is on the Cal Expo '92 Vine. Some pretty good sources to boot, info below: gd-92-03-09.sbd.braverman.9755.sbeok.shnf gd-92-03-20.mtx.seamons.ht28.95208.flac16 gd-92-05-24.sbd.miller.92272.sbeok.flac16 gd-92-05-29.sbd.hinko.35295.sbeok.shnf gd-92-05-30.sbd.tetzeli.76082.sbeok.flac16 gd-92-05-31.sbd.miller.92388.sbeok.flac16 I am also going to include a couple of the Chinese New Year's shows in Oakland. Even though these are not regarded as some of the best of '92, these are special for a couple of reasons. One is that I was at them =) =) and they will always remain in the forefront of my GD memories: from the road trip out to Oakland to buying fake tickets in the lot from the thugs to finally getting inside the Coliseum and hearing ... which leads to reason #2. 2/22 and 2/24 mark the first 2 performances of So Many Roads. I tell ya, when Jerry sings that song it is hard to hold back the tears. Unfortunately **so sorry Phil, still love ya man** it is also the first 2 performances of Wave to the Wind. =) I have a miller sbd of set 2 from 2/23 I'll include if I can squeeze it on one of the dvds. For that show I was the only one of our group to get in and I sat at the very top of the coliseum thinking the set list was about as good as it gets. gd-92-02-22.sbd.walker.scotton.miller.96395.sbeok.flac16 gd-92-02-23.s2.sbd.walker.scotton.miller.96396.sbeok.flac16 gd-92-02-24.sbd.walker.scotton.miller.96397.sbeok.flac16 "It's got no signs or dividing line and very few rules to guide"

The Grateful Dead, Philly '87 Vine Greetings Gang! This month is my 24th anniversary as a Dead-Head! Two Dozen Years! Wow how time flies! Yes ... I know the exact date that my life was changed forever. 3/31/1987. Not my first Dead show, but the first one where I heard them in a whole new way! The show was broadcast on WMMR in Philly, which is included in this vine (in the best source availible IMHO). There's also a bonus disc for "MMR fans. All six shows from the Philadelphia Spectrum in 1987. 2 DVD's in FLAC format. ENJOY! Peace, friscokid77 gd1987-03-29.nak300.andrewf.77977.sbeok.flac16 gd1987-03-30.sbd-mtx.clugston.tetzeli.fix-18255.34394.sbeok.shnf_files.xml gd1987-03-31.fm.14524.sbeok.shnf_files.xml gd1987-09-22.sbd.flac gd1987-09-23.sbd.flac gd1987-09-24.sbd.flac
