I was thinking the other day...how i would love to have 'Virgin' mind again...before it was touched w/ GD music... and go back and be blown away again by their Music for the 1st Time!!! That's what i tell people that have never laid ears on their music!!! We were listening to Ramble On Rose the other night...my wife and I... and the verse where Jerry says, "I'm going to Take You to the Leader of a Band!"...everything around me turned into a Family Feud game.... and i looked over to my wife, slapped my hand on the desk, and said... "For 1,000,000 Dollars, Can You Name the Leader of a Band...Can You Name the Person I Am Thinking About. " she looked at me kynda weird.. then Jerry busted out a solo, and i screamed.... Mr. Garcia!

I was listening to 9-28-72 the other day...and Dick's Picks 11 comes to mind.. You know, that Dark Star -> Cumberland is smoking...but other than that...i think i like the 28th Better.... Definately better Greatest STory Ever Told, if not the Best one ever..up there w/ 8-27-72 version... and THe NFA->GDTRFB->NFA... Jerry's first solo on GDTRFB is SMOKIN'.. and the Other One Package... hard to believe that Dick passed up the following night..or didn't make Both nights into the package... (I'm pretty sure DP 11 came out when Dick was still alive, right?? ) then, thats what brings this cool idea to mind.... If the people at Rhino are listening... You guys could do a Dick's Picks Revisited... and bring out like 10 volumes or so of stuff like this... 9-28-72 .. to compliment DP 11.. could have the logo at the top, Dick's Pick's Revisited..or Dick's Picks Resurrection.. and could bring out more killer shows based on what was released already... just a thought.. and, if anyone out there has not heard 9-28-72....i totally recommend you listen to it..there are good copies on Archive available....(hard to find the Truckin' Opener, at least the one i got doesnt include it)

You're in northern California!! I didn't read the video title soon enough. How's the fishin' there? The background music was tough to identify.

back home in southern Oregon now. I didn't do any fishing but had a nice time by 14,162 ft. Mt. Shasta,, also went to Crater Lake. The background music is just something I made up last night to go with the video.

Back in the late 80's, during the drought, I was camped on Shastina saddle there and had climbed up and hiked around the rim of Shastina crater a bit, That night I'm lying in my tent under a full-moon and I start hearing footsteps outside the tent moving around in the crunchy lava rock, so I get up open the door and get out and look around don't see anything. Go back to bed and climb to the summit of Mt. Shasta the next day. Then a year later I read in the paper that the snow in Shastina crater had melted more and uncovered the body of a climber who had dissapeared up there like 10 years earlier, and my first thought was "the footsteps" !

Watching Eddie Vedder - Water on the Road. One word ...stunning, well three words... absolutely inspirational. The magic of music is in display in a form that flows straight through the heart. A must see. Anyone who has felt music, and associated music with experiences, both visually and through the paths of our minds will relate to this on a level that makes everything in our world a bit clearer and a bit more real.

...I was blessed to be able to see 7 Walkers in Arcata last night. Woke up here this morning. Some of the biggest redwoods(360 ft.+) in the world are down below that fog. Anyways, I thought the show was great and the Birdsong finale and Deal encore left me one happy camper. Thank you 7 Walkers, for a real good time !

the version of Death Don't Have No Mercy that 7 Walkers did last night was the best one I've ever heard, hands down. They took what, for me, was a doom and gloom song and turned it into upbeat boogie that we were all dancing to. Gave me some hope. Nothing lasts forever, thank God for what we have and try to keep on the sunny side. Love , Hope , and Faith

It usually gets pretty nice around here by Memorial Day but this was one of the rainiest springtimes we've had in these parts. I couldn't believe how much snow was still around Crater Lake at the end of June, still don't think the road is open all the way around the lake. I got rained on good over by Mt. Shasta and came home a couple days early, since then it's been quite nice. Those shows should be great !

I just noticed in an ad for the Dixie Classic Fair here in lovely Winston-Salem, NC that there's a "fun" cooking contest that includes the category "Spam." As this site seems to have a surfeit of Spam, Spam in spades, so to speak, I thought it might be excellent fun for Dead.net to make a Spam submission (a fried Stealie rendered in Spam, perhaps?). Let me know if you need details about how to enter.

But it looks like this was the first time in 26 meetings that Japan has beaten the Americans, guess it was meant to be. Congratulations Japan . Sure wish our media would let us know how you're doing once in a while.

was a very exciting game. Japan won, partially thanks to the U.S. defense being so helpful. I liked how Japan played-they were steady and unruffleable, and more precise with their passes than the Americans. The game was kind of reminding me of the fable of the race between the hare and the tortise. After the horrible year Japan has had, I am glad they get this to celebrate.********************************** I am not young enough to know everything. Oscar Wilde

Yeah, it was certainly a good game. Both countries making a lot of silly mistakes in the first half; both sides making what seemed like passes to invisible members of their own team. But it looked like the USA just got a little tired in the second. They had to close Japan down whenever they got the ball as they knew what they could unleash. Was going to wear them down eventually. Great to see Japan never giving up; constant constant constant until the job was done. Wonderful to them laughing and smiling in the group huddle before the penalties. Real spirit. No arrogance just delight and a life-affirming approach to what lay ahead. We're mighty proud of you. Let's hope this inspires the people in Japan to never give up; to persevere, to dig down deep and forge ahead with the beauty that is LIFE. And you just know they will.

Alberto Contador couldn't chug up the mountain route to Galibier as well as Andy Schleck. Amazingly, and with incredible effort, Thomas Voeckler fought his way to yet another race leading yellow jersey. Today's stage 19 to Alpe d'Huez will be the last 2 climbs, with Grenoble Saturday, and then Paris, on Sunday. Will Andy Schleck, Evans, Frank Schleck or Voeckler win the tour?

Badger, was in Hanoi a few months back, March. hey be sure to get to Halong Bay. do an overnight or 7 on one of the boats. most peaceful place I slept in years, out on the water. easy enough to stay in some fisherman's houseboat, as I did, just paid about 5$ per night and helped with the nets. as around in Halong city port area AWAY form the tourists. also, enjoy the Biar Hoi in Hanoi... locally brewed beer sold in street shops by the glass direct out of the kegs, cheapest beer I had in years. stay safe, and hey, you speak French, so sure you can communicate with the older folks. peace.
