Since the 88's are goin well here in the vineyard, I'd like to offer up some more shows during their Fall Tour. The Cap Center saw some magic moments when The Grateful Dead showed up to play. Among them is the electric (and final) Ripple from 9/3/88, apparently a Make-A-Wish request. gd88-09-02.sbd.miller.28799.sbeok.flac16 gd88-09-03.sbd.miller.27749.sbeok.flac16 gd88-09-05.s1.sbd.miller.80630.sbeok.flac16 gd88-09-05.nakamichi.leeds.16440.sbeok.shnf gd88-09-06.sbd.miller.27750.sbeok.flac16

    Closing of the Spectrum Vine
Some time ago there was a gigantic vine circulating with ALL the shows played by The Dead in 2009. That vine is long dead (excuse the pun). I propose a modest little replacement vine featuring just the May 1 and May 2nd shows at the Philadelphia Spectrum. There was some pretty grate playing that weekend on both nights, and a typically energetic Philly crowd. Some folks may have heard the Saturday show which was broadcast on Sirius/XM. The Friday show kicks off with a rare set-opening PITB and ends with the only Playing Reprise of the tour. Warren Haynes dominates this set (with Pigpen looking on from above), trading vocals with Bob on Shakedown before taking the lead vox on Duprees and Hard to Handle (the only one of the tour). The set finishes with a sweet and gentle Friend of the Devil followed by a slow-building Playing Reprise. Set 2 gets kicking with Jack Straw and then the boys set the controls for the heart of the sun, launching into an up-tempo Alligator into a Caution (with everyone picking up bits of Pig’s rap), followed by Drums>Space. After dismantling and reassembling the universe, the band hands it over to Warren for the ballad (OK, “Comes a Time” does sound like the Allmans doing a cover, but it is a good cover!). The set regains some energy at the end and concludes with a lovely ‘Box of Rain” encore. On Saturday the boys come out kicking with a rare show-opening Saturday Night and do not stop until they welcome in Sunday with Sampson and Delilah. The first set again features Warren heavily, throwing down some bluesy riffs during Schoolgirl (Bobby vox!), before taking the mic for Althea. After a middling He’s Gone and a sweet UJB (nice harmonies) the energy goes way up as they launch into a rollicking Mason’s without a pause. Nice jamming on this one. The second set starts slowly with a gradually building Good Lovin’ and really gets cooking with Cumberland, followed by Cryptical (Phil on vox!) into The Other One into Drum>Space. Even if you are not a big fan of D>S you have to hear what they were doing with the D>S segment here – with some help from Jeff at the keyboards. After a longish pause, the first notes of Morning Dew whip the crowd into a frenzy (one of two played this tour, the other being at Shoreline on 5/14). Following another longish pause they kick it up a notch with St. Stephen and (without a pause) launch right into the Beatles’ “Revolution” (a nice bluesy version). Help>Slip>Franklins takes us to Phil’s rap and a Samson encore. Samson was expected of course, since after 53 sold-out GD shows at the Spectrum, this show was boys’ final performance in the Spectrum- by anyone -before it was demolished later that summer. The boys did have their way, and the old Spectrum was torn down! This is a 6 CD vine with SBD mixes from the discs available at the show. The setlists are as follows: Friday 1 May 2009 First Set: 1. Playing In the Band 2. Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleloo 3. New Speedway Boogie 4. Shakedown Street 5. Dupree's Diamond Blues 6. Hard To Handle 7. Friend of the Devil 8. Playing In the Band (Reprise) Second Set: 9. Jack Straw 10. Alligator 11. Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks) 12. Drums 13. Space 14. Loose Lucy 15. Comes a Time 16. Cold Rain and Snow 17. Sugar Magnolia Encore: 18. Box of Rain Saturday 2 May 2009 First Set: 1. One More Saturday Night 2. Brown Eyed Women 3. Good Morning Little School Girl 4. Althea/ 5. He's Gone 6. Uncle John's Band 7. Mason's Children Second Set: 8. Good Lovin' 9. Cumberland Blues 10. Cryptical Envelopment> 11. The Other One 12. Drums 13. Space 14. Morning Dew 15. St. Stephen> 16. Revolution 17. Help On The Way> 18. Slipnot!> 19. Franklin’s Tower Encore: 20. Samson and Delilah Friday Notes: Only “Hard to Handle” and “Playing Reprise” of the tour “Half Step”, “Duprees”, “Alligator” and “Comes a Time” each played only twice on this tour “Playing Reprise” starts disc two – annoying but the first set was too long for one CD Saturday Notes: “Schoolgirl”, “Cryptical”, “Morning Dew”, and “Revolution“ each played only twice on this tour. COMES WITH A BONUS DISC

This is the rest of 76 not yet in the Vineyard. 6/18 will not be included in this vine as it was released as part of the Digital Download Series. But I have to subdue myself from even hoping for what a great gift that would be for all us deadheads. That would be quite a gem from that Europe 72 tour... The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.

I have no idea, just that all vines containing material from those shows get retired when the box set comes out, including, obviously, videos. Truly, I dunno!

Greetings all, and happy Fourth of July!Originally, this vine was going to consist of one of my favorite shows: 7/18/76 Orpheum Theatre, San Francisco, CA. ... an upgrade of the Bertha remaster (the best circulating source IMHO)! I then realized that I had over half the run. And with Jake's help, he hooked me up with shows that I didn't have, making the Orpheum run complete! Then I found a DVD of Shn's from Philly in late June '76 that i thought I'd include as a bonus disc. This gave the Vine a more "4th of July" feel ... and since the shows are from 1976 (our nations 200th birthday), I decided to call it ... This is all of the shows played in the Fall of 1976 except Dick's Picks 20 (which featured almost complete shows from 9/25 and 9/28. One song from each show was omitted so the 9/25 dpouttakes is the missing 2 songs) and DP 33 (complete shows from 10/9 and 10/10). I noticed the vineyard was lacking some '76 so after helping out friscokid77 with his vine, I decided why not offer up the last part of the year as well. gd76-08-02.fob.singer.motb.81456.sbeok.flac16 gd76-08-04.sbd.moore.berger.99698.sbeok.flac16 gd76-09-23.sbd.backus.14687.sbeok.shnf gd76-09-24.aud.unknown.16901.sbeok.shnf gd76-09-25.sbd-dpouttakes.vernon.10511.sbeok.shnf gd76-09-27.sbd.miller.87664.sbeok.flac16 gd76-09-30.sbd.cribbs.30225.sbeok.shnf gd76-10-01.sbd.miller.112800.flac16 gd76-10-02.moore.weiner.14560.sbeok.shnf gd76-10-03.sbd-aud.cotsman.12832.sbeok.shnf gd76-10-14.sbd.cotsman.12614.sbeok.shnf gd76-10-15.sbd.miller.84260.sbeok.flac16 1. Just when you thought Jake R had vanished into the ether, he has blessed us with yet another trove of rare music in the vineyard - 1982. This three-part series consists of new or alternate sources for every show (excluding official releases) in 1982 that are not already on existing, active vines. He has even thrown in a few bonuses to sweeten the “Deal”. Thanks Jake R! A big thanks also goes out to JackStrawfromColorado for filling some gaps and providing additional bonuses. It seems that a lot of the 1978 vines have died off ...(ex: Eurovine #2, early 78 6-pack, 'Stache's fav's, Stache rides, enter the matrix vol.1, Pomo's flashback, Funiculi Funicula vine all DEAD) Anyone looking for a re-seed of any or all of these might want to sign up for this vine. 4 DVD's - SHN: gd78-01-06.sbd.clugston.6953.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-07.sbd.cotsman.17806.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-08.sbd.weiner.14670.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-10.sbd.cotsman.14523.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-11.sbd.cotsman.13190.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-13.sbd.clugston.4629.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-14.sbd.vernon.16114.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-15.sbd-aud.citsman.13252.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-17.sbd.cotsman.14555.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-18.aud-set2.vernon.18656.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-18.sbd.cotsman.13101.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-22.sbd.popi.4974.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-22.sony.dauria.2014.sbefail.shnf gd78-01-30.powell.vernon.12437.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-31.aud.cotsman.17807.sbeok.shnf gd78-01-31.sbd-aud.cotsman.17074.sbeok.shnf gd78-02-01.sbd.parillo.1017.sbeok.shnf

This vine will consist of all of the shows from the long deceased Eurovine #4 as well as some others. 2/2 was originally on the 1968 Lossless Vine but when I received that after it was reseeded, that show wasn't included but now it will be. Hope you all enjoy these. gd68-01-20.sbd.miller.97340.sbeok.flac16 gd68-01-22.sbd.miller.97342.sbeok.flac16 gd68-01-23.sbd.miller.97343.sbeok.flac16 gd68-02-02.sbd.miller.97345.sbeok.flac16 gd68-02-14.sbd.miller.89676.sbeok.flac16 gd68-03-03.prefm.finney.5809.sbeok.shnf gd68-03-16.sbd.miller.109944.sbeok.flac16 gd68-03-29.sbd.miller.108993.flac16 gd68-03-30.sbd.miller.108994.flac16 gd68-03-31.sbd.miller.108995.flac16 gd68-08-23.sbd.sacks.52.sbefail.shnf jg68-10-08.sbd.belaff.17691.sbeok.shnf (Mickey & Hartbeats) gd68-10-12.sbd.miller.86759.sbeok.flac16 gd68-10-20.sbd.miller.21441.sbeok.shnf gd68-11-01.sbd.cotsman.18100.sbeok.shnf gd68-11-06.studiorehearsals.gems.82393.sbeok.flac16 gd68-11-22.aud.cotsman.21933.sbeok.shnf gd68-12-29.sbd.miller.80197.sbeok.flac16 Bonus: jg68-12-24.sbd.tiedrich.82321.shnf

Here's a bunch more shows from dead Dead vines.I omitted 4/10/78 and 4/16/78 because they are included on vines that are still alive and well (ie: three from '82 and a '78 too, and Huntington WV '78 vine respectivly) Also 2/3/78 and 2/5/78 were omitted because they are availible on DP 18. I believe that on the original vine 2/3 and 2/5 only included the tracks that were NOT on DP # 18. I always forget whether it was 2/3 or 2/5, but that Scarlet/Fire is one of my 3 favorite ones, along with 1/31/78, played only days earlier, and the officially released 10/14/83.

Well a lot of this has been vined before. Some of the vines are not dead they just don't have anyone signed up. Just sayin'... "It's got no signs or dividing line and very few rules to guide"

Before I posted this, I went to the Vindex, and this is what I found: Eurovine #2: no activity since 12/2008. Early '78 6-pack: no activity since 03/2010. 'Stache rides 1978: no activity since 8/2009. Funicului Funicula vine: no activity since 10/2009 (with a request for a re-seed) Popmo's 1978 Vine: no activity since 10/2009 Enter the Matrix: no activity since 10/2009. mixed Bag GD: no activity since 4/2009 The following vines are Still Alive: * 'Stache's Fav's from early '78 * (originally I thought this was dead, but it's not) Three from 82, and a '78 too Omaha/Red Rocks '78 vine Huntington, WV '78 Cleveland Rocks v.2 Originally I had intended NOT to include any shows that were on vines that are still alivefor a couple reasons: 1). I didn't want to squash out anyone's vine, and 2). I didn't want the people holding these vines to get stuck with them if i was responsible for making them extinct. Well, I see that I did screw up ... I included shows that are on 'Staches Fav's from early '78 on the 1978 Lossless vine pt.1. For that, I apolagize to dstache, and whoever is holding the seeds to his vine. The seeds to 1978 v.1 had all ready gone out, so I'm not sure what I can do about that. I also see that there are a bunch of shows on the 1978 v.2 seeds that are part of 'Staches Fav's from early '78. I can re-burn the seeds leaving these shows off. I will leave it up to dstache, marye and JakeR. I guess for now, pt.2 is on hold until I hear from them Sorry if I upset anyone. Peace, Chris

To replace the 6pack vine. Dude don't worry about it, no one is upset. I just thought one of the very few rules here was to not vine stuff that is already vined but it is not a big deal man. Sorry I brought it up. You know, I can tell my time is done here and that is fine too. Over the last couple of years I started vines to fill some gaps in the vinedex. Then I got derailed when I started my quest to re-seed all the lost and dead vines. A totally thankless job and that is fine too. But now a couple of 100 dvds later I guess I lost my patience. Again sorry about that. All I have ever tried to do here is keep the music going and I have ruffled several feathers in the process. What can you do? I was trying to take over where markinthedark left off. I thought he did a great job keeping track of everything but now I can see why he boogied out of here. I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry I have pissed everyone off. "It's got no signs or dividing line and very few rules to guide"

Here are some Legion of Mary shows from the years 1971-72. This is what is out there at this point in time, I believe. None of these shows are in the Vinedex with the exception of 2/6/72, and I am going to include it for the integrity of this vine. I don't have any power to tell someone to not vine something. I have always followed 1 a) above so I was trying to figure out what was going on more than anything. We work around stuff like that but communication break downs cripple the vineyard faster than anything else. Sorry I was the vineyard scrooge. I won't be getting in the way any more. But like i said before, I still am trading and if you are interested look me up. Take care everyone. "It's got no signs or dividing line and very few rules to guide"

I see the purpose of the vineyard as giving folks access to as many shows as possible that have not enjoyed official releases. It should not be a competition, but a cooperation. It makes sense to vine shows that are not already being circulated..And yes it can be frustrating to see your painstakingly prepared vine being overlapped by another within a short time. That is precisely why I started the vindex. The problem is tracking dead vines and refilling the gaps. Markinthedark made a huge effort on this and Jackstraw and Jake R have picked it up from him. It is a tedious task. The quickest way is the one used by friscokid is to check the most recent activity. It is not altogether accurate, and mistakes can be made. Anyway so long as everyone has good intentions and keeps communicating then all should be fine. it saddens me to read Jackstraw's words and hear his disillusion. I guess the vineyard baton will continue to be passed on and that is a good thing. but huge thanks should go to those who got it this far; let us just make sure they move on with good feelings not bad. Thanks Jackstraw too for reminding us of Markindark who disappeared so suddenly and without explanation. I do wish we could just hear that he is OK. I heard from Bob 'Sunshine Daydream' the other week after a long long silence. He kicked off many early vines and it was good to hear from him. keep smiling CB
