Hey now these two unique shows on 4/25 and 5/22 warrant their own vine. I don’t know what you call them but it is something in between GD and JGB. The line-up is Garcia, Weir, Kreutzman, Hart and John Kahn and on 5/22 Mydland joins the fun (I actually wonder if Brent played 4/25 too). Both are short one set performances but as you may have guessed they are acoustic and exceptionally good. 5/22 is seriously one of the best sounding auds I have ever heard. Plus they play some of my favorite tunes. For example, how many times do you get to hear Dark Hollow? I just found these to be very enjoyable and something a little different. I will include wav and flac files for this one on CD-R’s. Humongous thanks to RaymondMBrown for providing!! Here is an offering from the late great west coast taper, Mike Millard. The most interesting tidbit about Millard, in case you haven't heard, is that he would go to concerts in a wheelchair, despite being able-bodied, in order to more easily disguise his equipment and secure a good taping position. I think if you asked a large group of people to name the 5 best rock bands in history, three of the bands included here would make the list: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and the outfit that called itself the greatest rock and roll band in the world, the Rolling Stones. Plus 3 from Yes and 1 from Kansas. The sound and performance quality is almost uniformly top notch. SHN/FLAC files only (the next vine, Pink Floyd, will include WAV, I promise), 3 discs total. Here is what is included: Led Zeppelin 3/24/75, 3/25/75, 3/27/75 The Rolling Stones 7/11/75, 7/13/75 Pink Floyd 4/26/75 Yes 6/23/75, 9/23/77, 9/26/77 Kansas 12/31/77 Note that the Rolling Stones 7/12/75, the second night of the run, is also included, but I do NOT recommend bothering with it, or if you must, at least only convert and burn through Happy. There is a tape flip during You Can't Always Get and a skeevy AUD fills in, then during Happy, the very next song, the Millard recording dies for good and the skeevy AUD continues the rest of the show. It is God-awful. Unfortunately, I did not know this before converting and burning the show, and I burned the disc here before listening to it. But the rest of the stuff is awesome (well, okay, maybe Kansas isn't quite awesome, but even it is enjoyable, and the sound quality is great). Enjoy!

These came from Arkdeadhead, I just converted them. Both of these shows are audience video footage from a tripod with excellent soundboards synced to them. If any of you have recently purchased the Crimson White and Indigo DVD this vine would make a great companion. Both of these shows were taped a couple of months after the July show and have the same feel. They are in DVD format (5 discs in all) so make sure you can copy them. If you can't and would like them PM me. Enjoy, and thanks Arkdeadhead! Grateful Dead Hampton Coliseum Hampton, VA October 9, 1989 Disc 1 - Set 1 01. Tuning 02. Feel Like A Stranger 03. Dan Lampinski taped a lot of shows in New England in the 1970's. I don't think he ever recorded the Dead, but he captured a lot of great bands. His recordings are only recently being circulated. Here, presented in SHN/FLAC format, on a single DVD, are 5 of his recordings: Styx 11/4/77, Heart 1/27/79, Bruce Springsteen 7/20/75, Yes 8/15/77 and Yes 12/11/74. The Styx and '74 Yes shows (both A AUDs) are especially enjoyable. I grade the sound quality of the Bruce show as A- and the others as B+. Styx are one of those bands that doesn't get as much respect as they deserve. Young people don't know them aside from Mr. Roboto and older people, especially those who loved them at one time, felt betrayed because of Mr. Roboto. But in 1977, this band was at a peak. I love the show. For more info on Dan, Google his name and you can read a cool story about him and why his recordings are coming out. If there is interest, I will seed a Part 2. I am working on acquiring yet another Yes show, and maybe Rush, Supertramp, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jethro Tull and Lou Reed. I can't seem to get the Queen 76 Lampinski recording. If someone has or can get that please let me know.

This DVD contains an audience 'stealth' video/audio labeled from the 12-7-91 Warfield Theater show and contains 7 songs from that evening. It is obvious how special these shows were. Garcia & Grisman DVD Warfield Theater 12-7-91 1. To Sea Once More 2. Friend of the Devil 3. Wind and Rain 4. Arabia (fades out) 5. Sittin' Here in Limbo 6. God rest ye merry gentleman Jam 7. Ripple Jerry Garcia- vocals & guitar, David Grisman- mandolin, Jim Kerwin- bass, Joe Craven percussionist extrodinarie along with violin, etc. Note: this is not a proshot or professional effort, but an audience video recording that gives us a taste of that intimate evening, even with the periodic crowd banter, camera movement or the occasional 'pixilating' of the image. It ain't perfect, but boy is it sweet. I also made some inserts for this 1 DVD. The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.

Here are 3 more shows from the fall '89 tour. 10/25 and 10/26 are pretty well-known, and 10/19 deserves to be. 10/26 was vined previously (eurovine # 5) but that vine experienced a premature death, and reached few people. I will include both SHN/FLAC (1 DVD) and WAV files (9 CDs). Thanks to RMB for giving me the shows. I grade all 3 as Very Good shows. For what it is worth, of the 29 shows from '89 that I have graded (I have another 5 I haven't graded), I give a Very Good to 13 shows, a Good to 12 shows, and a Decent to 4 shows. I have a difficult time giving a Great to shows from the later years. A Great corresponds to 5 out of 5 stars or close to 10 out of 10. A Very Good is probably 4 to 4.5 out of 5 stars. Sure thing! Would someone actually mind taking the GDH vine now and then sending it out when it's officially in the vineyard? I'm leaving for the Adirondacks tomorrow for the week (Great way to spend Jerry Week!) and if Marye puts this up in a few days I won't be here to send it out. Thanks, Nathan. *It probably would have been easier for me to have did this when I got back from the 'Decks, but I really wanted to get this one out!*

This is the rest of 76 not yet in the Vineyard. 6/18 will not be included in this vine as it was released as part of the Digital Download Series. Almost all of these seem to be upgrades and sound excellent from what I have listened to so far. Once Mary gives this vine a home I'll have it out the door and off to the post office..... Some time ago there was a gigantic vine circulating with ALL the shows played by The Dead in 2009. That vine is long dead (excuse the pun). I propose a modest little replacement vine featuring just the May 1 and May 2nd shows at the Philadelphia Spectrum. There was some pretty grate playing that weekend on both nights, and a typically energetic Philly crowd. Some folks may have heard the Saturday show which was broadcast on Sirius/XM. The Friday show kicks off with a rare set-opening PITB and ends with the only Playing Reprise of the tour. Warren Haynes dominates this set (with Pigpen looking on from above), trading vocals with Bob on Shakedown before taking the lead vox on Duprees and Hard to Handle (the only one of the tour). The set finishes with a sweet and gentle Friend of the Devil followed by a slow-building Playing Reprise. Set 2 gets kicking with Jack Straw and then the boys set the controls for the heart of the sun, launching into an up-tempo Alligator into a Caution (with everyone picking up bits of Pig’s rap), followed by Drums>Space. After dismantling and reassembling the universe, the band hands it over to Warren for the ballad (OK, “Comes a Time” does sound like the Allmans doing a cover, but it is a good cover!). The set regains some energy at the end and concludes with a lovely ‘Box of Rain” encore. On Saturday the boys come out kicking with a rare show-opening Saturday Night and do not stop until they welcome in Sunday with Sampson and Delilah. The first set again features Warren heavily, throwing down some bluesy riffs during Schoolgirl (Bobby vox!), before taking the mic for Althea. After a middling He’s Gone and a sweet UJB (nice harmonies) the energy goes way up as they launch into a rollicking Mason’s without a pause. Nice jamming on this one. The second set starts slowly with a gradually building Good Lovin’ and really gets cooking with Cumberland, followed by Cryptical (Phil on vox!) into The Other One into Drum>Space. Even if you are not a big fan of D>S you have to hear what they were doing with the D>S segment here – with some help from Jeff at the keyboards. After a longish pause, the first notes of Morning Dew whip the crowd into a frenzy (one of two played this tour, the other being at Shoreline on 5/14). Following another longish pause they kick it up a notch with St. Stephen and (without a pause) launch right into the Beatles’ “Revolution” (a nice bluesy version). Help>Slip>Franklins takes us to Phil’s rap and a Samson encore. Samson was expected of course, since after 53 sold-out GD shows at the Spectrum, this show was boys’ final performance in the Spectrum- by anyone -before it was demolished later that summer. The boys did have their way, and the old Spectrum was torn down! This is a 6 CD vine with SBD mixes from the discs available at the show. The setlists are as follows: Friday 1 May 2009 First Set: 1. Playing In the Band 2. Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleloo 3. New Speedway Boogie 4. Shakedown Street 5. Dupree's Diamond Blues 6. Hard To Handle 7. Friend of the Devil 8. Playing In the Band (Reprise) Second Set: 9. Jack Straw 10. Alligator 11. Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks) 12. Drums 13. Space 14. Loose Lucy 15. Comes a Time 16. Cold Rain and Snow 17. Sugar Magnolia Encore: 18. Box of Rain Saturday 2 May 2009 First Set: 1. One More Saturday Night 2. Brown Eyed Women 3. Good Morning Little School Girl 4. Althea/ 5. He's Gone 6. Uncle John's Band 7. Mason's Children Second Set: 8. Good Lovin' 9. Cumberland Blues 10. Cryptical Envelopment> 11. The Other One 12. Drums 13. Space 14. Morning Dew 15. St. Stephen> 16. Revolution 17. Help On The Way> 18. Slipnot!> 19. Franklin’s Tower Encore: 20. Samson and Delilah Friday Notes: Only “Hard to Handle” and “Playing Reprise” of the tour “Half Step”, “Duprees”, “Alligator” and “Comes a Time” each played only twice on this tour “Playing Reprise” starts disc two – annoying but the first set was too long for one CD Saturday Notes: “Schoolgirl”, “Cryptical”, “Morning Dew”, and “Revolution“ each played only twice on this tour. COMES WITH A BONUS DISC

Since the 88's are goin well here in the vineyard, I'd like to offer up some more shows during their Fall Tour. The Cap Center saw some magic moments when The Grateful Dead showed up to play. Among them is the electric (and final) Ripple from 9/3/88, apparently a Make-A-Wish request. gd88-09-02.sbd.miller.28799.sbeok.flac16 gd88-09-03.sbd.miller.27749.sbeok.flac16 gd88-09-05.s1.sbd.miller.80630.sbeok.flac16 gd88-09-05.nakamichi.leeds.16440.sbeok.shnf gd88-09-06.sbd.miller.27750.sbeok.flac16

Neil Young- Boulder 1976 & Buffalo 2010 (4 CDs)These are both audience recordings (2 CDs each show). The 2010 recordings are the same quality as the other newer Neil vines that I have posted (very nice!), and this new solo show is Neil & his electric guitar (?). And Neil plays some tunes that you may not have heard. The 1976 (especially the acousitc... shhhh crowd ! its Too Far Gone) has some audible 'tape hiss' & you can hear the crowd (but it is worth it). When Crazy Horse joins Neil in the second set- put on your seat belts! They play loud enough to drown out all of us cheering that night! There are quite a few Kingfish shows in circulation but it will take some time to get a hold of them. I put out a request but nothing yet. If I get four or five shows (i.e. enough for a FLAC DVD) together, I'll start a Kingfish vine. Great personnel in this band. A forerunner of "Ratdog" with Steve Kimock playing lead guitar. If any one has a few shows, please feel free to start a vine. Best Wishes-Jimmy

I did a little research for you. The IDE format is giving way to SATA so your options are not as vast as they once were. I used to build PCs as a hobby and always used Plextor or ASUS drives although I never had any problems with Lite-On drives either. I found this one in stock with all positive reviews. Hope this helps: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?Ed…

is here and with that I think we're caught up. Sorry for the wait, but the system was acting crazy and I wanted to make sure things would work...which I hope these will!

Now the Vindex is getting so huge and seems to have been eliminated from this site, I am planning a new way of sharing it, which is intended to be easier for me, easier for folks to scan and analyse and that will not clog up the site. I am posting a link to a place where you can read a simple spreadsheet online with the VIndex on it. It includes a whole lot more useful info too, including a list of all the shows the GD ever played and dates of all official releases. The link is here. Please tell me if it works OK https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApYQXLRMperodHNXcXhNYjdpWH… thanks CB

it hasn't been eliminated, it's fallen prey to technical weirdness, but until we get this figured out, it is good that a better option exists!

Here is the rest of 1978 that is not A) an official release; or B) yet available in the Vineyard.I just got a new job and free time is going to be harder to come by here soon so I wanted to get some music out to yinz while I can. This is a mix of SBDs and AUDs with a couple of nice MTXs thrown in there. I actually enjoy/don't mind AUDs and these here for the most part, are very enjoyable. The 2 December Texas shows aren't so hot, but that is what is available of those shows, so I included them for completists sake. Also, I am missing a show or two that is not in the Vineyard so we'll have to get those added at a later time. A HUGE bonus with this vine is that ALL shows are tagged!!! Ready to convert or what have you. Let's get this vine a home and I'll send it out pronto. Peace everyone. 8 DVDs in FLAC/SHN format: gd78-04-06.81508.mtx.tobin.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-04-07.83715.sbd.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-04-08.83716.sbd.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-04-15.86412.mtx.chappell.sb24.t-flac16 gd78-04-24.97543.sbd.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-05-09.12184.aud-sony54p.vernon.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-05-13.17406.aud-sonyECM33p.rolfe-weiner.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-05-16.08333.aud-AKGd202e.weiner.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-06-04.94407.sbd.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-06-25.07048.sbd.cotsman.sbefixed.t-flac16 gd78-07-01.97424.aud-sonyecm54p.wagner.minches.t-flac16 gd78-07-03.97601.aud-sonyecm54p.wagner.minches.t-flac16 gd78-08-30.11479.aud.wiley.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-08-30.110151.sbd-set2.miller.t-flac16 gd78-08-31.20726.aud-sbd.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-11-13.11483.aud.wiley.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-11-14.100205.aud-nak300.rolfe-miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-11-16.11486.psbd.wiley.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-11-17.07687.sbd.acoustic.dodd.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-11-18.81131.sbd.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-11-20.95660.sbd.fix.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-11-21.87203.sbd.carpenter-andrewf.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-11-23.96031.fob.walker-scotton-miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-11-24.87642.pre-fm.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-12-13.25717.sbd.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-12-15.09479.aud-sony54p.wiley.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-12-16.82211.fob-sonyecm250-dolbyb.walker-scotton-miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-12-17.92528.aud-sonyecm250.walker-scotton-miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-12-19.19507.fob-sony54p.wagner.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-12-19.102429.sbd-s1.miller.t-flac16 gd78-12-21.15209.aud.cotsman.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-12-22.14562.aud.cotsman.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-12-27.09480.sbd.wiley.sbeok.t-flac16 gd78-12-28.35159.sbd.tetzeli.fix-7487.t-flac16 gd78-12-30.18092.sbd.miller.sbeok.t-flac16
