Many thanks to all involved, and vine on! -- Dead.Net Vines - What It Is & How It Works (We're changing some things for 2009) BACKGROUND: The concept of a "vine" is music sharing through conventional means (e.g. mailing cd's or dvd's) with the sign-up list being on-line. The basic idea is that someone starts (seeds) a vine, made up of one or multiple shows, and sends it via mail to the first person who signs up. That person makes a copy for themselves and sends the ORIGINAL media on to the next person on the list. As more people sign up, it continues to grow and grow - hence the name "vine". MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Make sure you can deal with the media format. Many vines are in audio CD format, so the minimum basic requirement is that you are knowledgeable and capable of copying audio CD's. Other vines are in D

Since the 88's are goin well here in the vineyard, I'd like to offer up some more shows during their Fall Tour. The Cap Center saw some magic moments when The Grateful Dead showed up to play. Among them is the electric (and final) Ripple from 9/3/88, apparently a Make-A-Wish request. gd88-09-02.sbd.miller.28799.sbeok.flac16 gd88-09-03.sbd.miller.27749.sbeok.flac16 gd88-09-05.s1.sbd.miller.80630.sbeok.flac16 gd88-09-05.nakamichi.leeds.16440.sbeok.shnf gd88-09-06.sbd.miller.27750.sbeok.flac16

    Closing of the Spectrum Vine
Some time ago there was a gigantic vine circulating with ALL the shows played by The Dead in 2009. That vine is long dead (excuse the pun). I propose a modest little replacement vine featuring just the May 1 and May 2nd shows at the Philadelphia Spectrum. There was some pretty grate playing that weekend on both nights, and a typically energetic Philly crowd. Some folks may have heard the Saturday show which was broadcast on Sirius/XM. The Friday show kicks off with a rare set-opening PITB and ends with the only Playing Reprise of the tour. Warren Haynes dominates this set (with Pigpen looking on from above), trading vocals with Bob on Shakedown before taking the lead vox on Duprees and Hard to Handle (the only one of the tour). The set finishes with a sweet and gentle Friend of the Devil followed by a slow-building Playing Reprise. Set 2 gets kicking with Jack Straw and then the boys set the controls for the heart of the sun, launching into an up-tempo Alligator into a Caution (with everyone picking up bits of Pig’s rap), followed by Drums>Space. After dismantling and reassembling the universe, the band hands it over to Warren for the ballad (OK, “Comes a Time” does sound like the Allmans doing a cover, but it is a good cover!). The set regains some energy at the end and concludes with a lovely ‘Box of Rain” encore. On Saturday the boys come out kicking with a rare show-opening Saturday Night and do not stop until they welcome in Sunday with Sampson and Delilah. The first set again features Warren heavily, throwing down some bluesy riffs during Schoolgirl (Bobby vox!), before taking the mic for Althea. After a middling He’s Gone and a sweet UJB (nice harmonies) the energy goes way up as they launch into a rollicking Mason’s without a pause. Nice jamming on this one. The second set starts slowly with a gradually building Good Lovin’ and really gets cooking with Cumberland, followed by Cryptical (Phil on vox!) into The Other One into Drum>Space. Even if you are not a big fan of D>S you have to hear what they were doing with the D>S segment here – with some help from Jeff at the keyboards. After a longish pause, the first notes of Morning Dew whip the crowd into a frenzy (one of two played this tour, the other being at Shoreline on 5/14). Following another longish pause they kick it up a notch with St. Stephen and (without a pause) launch right into the Beatles’ “Revolution” (a nice bluesy version). Help>Slip>Franklins takes us to Phil’s rap and a Samson encore. Samson was expected of course, since after 53 sold-out GD shows at the Spectrum, this show was boys’ final performance in the Spectrum- by anyone -before it was demolished later that summer. The boys did have their way, and the old Spectrum was torn down! This is a 6 CD vine with SBD mixes from the discs available at the show. The setlists are as follows: Friday 1 May 2009 First Set: 1. Playing In the Band 2. Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleloo 3. New Speedway Boogie 4. Shakedown Street 5. Dupree's Diamond Blues 6. Hard To Handle 7. Friend of the Devil 8. Playing In the Band (Reprise) Second Set: 9. Jack Straw 10. Alligator 11. Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks) 12. Drums 13. Space 14. Loose Lucy 15. Comes a Time 16. Cold Rain and Snow 17. Sugar Magnolia Encore: 18. Box of Rain Saturday 2 May 2009 First Set: 1. One More Saturday Night 2. Brown Eyed Women 3. Good Morning Little School Girl 4. Althea/ 5. He's Gone 6. Uncle John's Band 7. Mason's Children Second Set: 8. Good Lovin' 9. Cumberland Blues 10. Cryptical Envelopment> 11. The Other One 12. Drums 13. Space 14. Morning Dew 15. St. Stephen> 16. Revolution 17. Help On The Way> 18. Slipnot!> 19. Franklin’s Tower Encore: 20. Samson and Delilah Friday Notes: Only “Hard to Handle” and “Playing Reprise” of the tour “Half Step”, “Duprees”, “Alligator” and “Comes a Time” each played only twice on this tour “Playing Reprise” starts disc two – annoying but the first set was too long for one CD Saturday Notes: “Schoolgirl”, “Cryptical”, “Morning Dew”, and “Revolution“ each played only twice on this tour. COMES WITH A BONUS DISC

This is the rest of 76 not yet in the Vineyard. 6/18 will not be included in this vine as it was released as part of the Digital Download Series. Almost all of these seem to be upgrades and sound excellent from what I have listened to so far. Once Mary gives this vine a home I'll have it out the door and off to the post office..... Enjoy!! 5 DVD's FLAC: gd76-06-11.00238.sbd.mccartj.sbeok.t-flac16 gd76-06-11.07824.sbd.jmason.sbeok.t-flac16 gd76-06-17.80739.sbd.miller.sbeok.t-flac16 gd76-06-17.91861.mtx.seamons.sbeok.t-flac16 gd76-06-19.sbd.digitalrbb.miller.111852.flac16 gd76-06-23.95321.aud.miller.sbeok.flac16 gd76-06-26.95355.mtx.seamons.sbeok.t-flac16 gd76-06-26.s2.aud.digitalrbb.miller.112790.flac16 gd76-06-27.sbd.digitalrbb.miller.112295.flac16 gd76-06-28.mtx.seamons.112676.flac16 gd76-06-28.sbd.digitalrbb.miller.112296.flac16 gd76-06-29.31144.sbd.bertha-ashley.sbeok.t-flac16 gd76-06-29.mtx.seamons.xxxxxx.flac16 gd76-06-29.s2.sbd.miller.113556.flac16

Since 1988 is another under-represented year in the vineyard, I'd like to offer up this run of shows. Yes there are lyrics forgotten and mistakes on some songs but hey, a band can't be on every night. gd88-07-15.sbd.clugston.braverman.tetzeli.fix-10343.34751.flac16 gd88-07-16.sbd.miller.87751.sbeok.flac16 gd88-07-17.sbd.miller.87752.sbeok.flac16

I've decided to offer up this little 5 DVD vine. However, almost all of these are auds so listener beware. That being said, you will find some true gems in these shows. This was originally going to be a 2 DVD vine with one source/transfer of each show but I have decided to include all known sources/transfers of the auds so you, the listener, can pick which you like. *NOTE: Apparently 11/23 could be 11/16 gd70-11-05.aud.harlan.9356.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-05.aud.sirmick.30115.sbeok.flac16 gd70-11-05.aud.warner.17182.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-06.aud.d3new.hanno.19922.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-06.aud.warner.17183.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-06.aud.evans.3338.sbefail.shnf gd70-11-07.aud.warner.10306.sbeok.flac16 gd70-11-07.aud.toner.berger.100330.flac16 gd70-11-07.aud.weinberg.moore.berger.98264.flac16 gd70-11-07.aud.weinberg.moore.berger.98263.flac24 gd70-11-08.aud.lee.gd-nrps.26975.shnf gd70-11-08.aud.owens.23474.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-08.aud.partial.unknown.94500.sbeok.flac16 gd70-11-08.aud.warner.17184.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-08.aud.weinberg.cousinit.18639.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-08.aud.weiner.28609.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-09.aud.hanno.07591.sbeok.flac16 gd70-11-10.aud.cotsman.17032.sbeok.flac16 gd70-11-10.aud.hanno.8837.sbefail.shnf gd70-11-11.aud.cotsman.17081.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-11.aud.sirmick.31154.sbeok.flac16 gd70-11-16.sbd.winters.17361.sbeok.flac16 gd70-11-20.aud.cotsman.09001.sbeok.flac16 gd70-11-21.sbd-fragment.hanno.14858.sbeok.lac16 gd70-11-23.sbd.lai.4734.sbeok.shnf gd70-11-29.aud.hanno.07592.sbeok.flac16 1. Love those 11/6-8 auds aka the usher tapes. Anyone know why they're called the usher tapes? I know they were taped from the balcony and maybe the usher's helped get the gear in?!?
