After completing two consecutive shows at Oakland Stadium with The Who the previous weekend, The Dead performed two shows, Thur.-Fri. 14-15 October 1976, @ the Shrine Auditorium in L.A..
The second show on the 15th is "The One".
it's "the One" that would be seriously considered for a Dave's Picks release. But Dave says the last reel for the 2nd set is missing. Oh, and no encore because there was no need for one.

Sounds like a mighty fine show. And not many shows have been released with Shakedown Street, especially a 2nd set opener.

"I know I have been going crazy with show requests, but I keep stumbling on shows that I think would make great official releases. If anyone is sick of my requests then I will slow it down. Just can't get off 'the wheel' I guess!"

"I know the night before 08/07/82 was featured on Dick's Picks Volume 32, but I think this show 08/08/82 is just as good, maybe even better. I think an official commercial release of this show would make a great companion piece to Dick's Picks Volume 32."

Hello. I am new to Dead.net, not at all new to the Dead. I really enjoy that Reckoning record and would love to find more acoustic Dead. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks, and sorry if this has been requested more than once.
    Enjoy!

Hi, Has there been any thought to a commercial release (Dave's Picks or Road Trips series) of either (or both) of the shows from New Orleans September 18-19, 1980? The Sunday show (9/19) was the single greatest performance of anyone I've ever seen in 50 years of attending rock shows. Phenomenal. That little run was something they squeezed in between the Warfield and Radio City Music Hall runs that produced the Reckoning and Dead Set releases. If I remember correctly, because that tour was being recorded for commercial release, tapers were discouraged from recording, so the only versions I've heard from these shows have been of middling quality at best. Thanks.

I’m thinking based on the clue offered for Dave’s 50, specifically the reference to “show (shows…?)” and the timing being right,… leads me to believe the show is the Watkins Glen summer jam and the bonus disc is the sound check. I did some quick math at archive.org and it looks like the show would fit on three discs with about 15 min to spare, and that the sound check would almost fit on one, with the need for last song on the other discs.

As is well known, there are Owsley tapes for both days and even though widely available (in so so quality) already, this show deserves the official release, plangent process and all. Here’s hoping I’m right on this guess.
