Well, i would pretty much buy any DVD of the Grateful Dead in concert live, even if it wasn't a complete show and / or a compilation -- that said, i would certainly hope for complete shows. Rhino, get them elephant ears up and please listen to the heads, WE WANT DVDs, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! pretty please with sugar on top! I'm gonna make a prediction that they will release the recent The Dead show with the fire dancers in the not too distant future. I am not sure if that was the only venue that had screens, but the shows we was at didn't have screens and i didn't see no cameras. a couple of those shows we was right down in the third row, KIND miracles from an old friend who got those cool seats at a bit more than cost through the Rex auctions!! he just sent me a very cool, signed by all members of the band, poster which was included in that charity tix package!!! oh, and Rhino and / or dead promoters, next time there is a tour, DO THE CHARITY AUCTION FIRST!! then the people with deep pockects will help the charity rather than the asshole scalpers or the consideritDung vip thing.

My vote would have to be July 7, 1989.... JFK Stadium..... Philadlephia Pa. The reasons for this pick are many. First and foremost, this tour was simply put, one of thier best. Another one would have to be the Scarlet>Fire and Blow away are arguably the best career versions of these songs... This is debated on many boards, and I would tend to agree with those that say so. Listen to the streams at ARCHIVE if you never heard them. The number of people who showed up at this show is another reason it should be released. Municipal Stadium aka JFK Stadium was built to seat over 100,000 for a football game. On this date I heard that there was over 90,000 people in attendance and another 15,000 who , for whatever reason; didn't come in.... which surprises me since tickets were still being sold at the door when the first notes started playing. If these numbers are true, then this show might be the Band's most attended single act show in history... If someone knows of a bigger show please let me know.... Englishtown NJ might be the only other example. A Grateful Dead concert was also the last event ever to be held here. This is the show that almost wasn't. City officails were playing around with cancelling this show on the day of performance. Could you imagine what would have happened with 100,000+ deadheads being told there is no show at the last minute. Luckily the city father's took this into consideration and allowed the show to go on. For those who don't know, JFK was literally falling down. As the band played that night, a fine mist of cement was falling from the cement steps down onto the concourse below. Although the Rolling Stones would do some sound checks there later in the week, the venue was officially closed before thier show. Sadly this left Philly with nowhere for the Band to play summer tour anymore (The Grateful Dead refused to play The Vet... for obvious reasons).... Just imagine if JFK could have lasted just one more year for the epic 90 summer tour. As someone who attended both JFK shows, the other in 87.... A DVD of this show would be appreciated because if you were unlucky enough to sit on the risers, you really didn't get a good sound. I have heard the field was alot better. After listening to the soundboard of this show I think I believe those who say that. While so many of the summer tour 89-90 shows have already been released, I'm sure there are those who say "enough from this era".... And I might agree.... But this is a show that should have been released early on.... If only for the good playing and the historical aspects.

I'd vote for DVD releases of any show from the summer of '89. 7/7 is probably at the top of the list. Downhill From Here is a great release, but the performances the next two nights are just as good. How about a release of the whole Alpine run -- leave all the shows intact and that could be the "excuse" for re-releasing 7/17 as part of a 3-show box.

Continuing the View from the Vault Series / MORE CONCERT VIDEO
What happened ? They were coming out consistently and then stopped. Were rumors of a release of some footage with Pigpen and although Festival Express was awesome, I was looking more further into a sole Grateful Dead concert release. I also have the collection of all the others as Downhill, Truckin, Dawg, Winterland, etc.. Also releases of crowd compilations as End of the Road and Tie Dyed. I've read other peoples comments concerning all the footage on the back screens of shows that included lot scenes and indoor video circulating amongst the crowd during the show I would imagine there could be some great compilations made realistic. Where are they ? I was at the Terrapin Family Reunion at Alpine Valley and was awed by the display of collections from and of the Vault. All that tape and film dilated my pupils, we are all patiently awaiting... I'm sure all these people that make these sorts happen are all very busy, I would just like to take an opportunity to thank them for all their doings on some very special releases past, present and about to come and let them know that we for sure are looking forward to some more. Keep up the good work keep it coming ! Would especially like to see something in a more High Definition source of audio/ video format (7.1 & 1080p) such as on Blue Ray Disc. Well Hey Now enough rambling, God Bless... One Love ! Looking forward :) peace.

The whole show had huge video screens going so you know that the cameras and footage are there! Would also like to see something, possibly a montage of some restored footage from the early to mid 70's. I am guessing there is a ton of footage out there with great audio to match it with. It doesn't matter if the whole show is not there, etc.... It would be great to just start getting that stuff out there. I feel it has been long over due and I was expecting (now that it is 12 years since Jerry is gone) that more video footage would be out there! Other requests would be: Silver Stadium 6/30/88 Warlocks 10/9/89 Nassau 3/29/90 Anything from Europe 1990 Shoreline 8/16/91 Oakland 10/31/91 - Bill's goodbye show Oakland 10/31/92 - Jerry Garcia Band - Jerry's 1st show back after his coma Any 199?'s show from Las Vegas - The Silver Bowl (what a magical place!). Shoreline 6/2/95 - the last west coast shows and the Gyoto monks - WOW! Praying for that miracle video! Brother A

I was at the D/D in Anaheim and most of it was released in the Vault Video with the Oakland show but I would love to see the footage from the Dylan set and the encores... I agree with HighVibe on the late 80s and early 90s shows. Many of the shows I was at had the screens i.e. Shoreline etc... So there has to be Video out there waiting to be released! - Eric

...shall we go, you and I while we can... Two problems. One, Dylan wasn't satisfied with the shows himself, so he's disinclined to release the performance. That's why it wasn't on the VFTV release. Two, Jerry was very protective of those videos. After the show, he had a designated person bring him the video master, which he would put in his briefcase before leaving the venue. There probably aren't too many of these in the vault, although David Lemeiux would know. I thought some of them might turn up for the recent auction of the contents of his home, but didn't. So maybe the guy who bought his house or, more likely, Deborah Koontz, has them.

After doing a little exercise to the "Truckin of toe Buffalo" DVD, I realized that there were some HOT shows during this tour! How about the show before: 7/2/89 Sullivan Stadium! Playin > Crzy > Wang Dang SHOW OPENER! My goodness! The whole show is amazing! And how about the show after: 7/7/89 the last JFK Stadium show! The band was again in top form! How about releasing the whole TOUR! Also forgot to mention..... Would love to SEE some video of The Greek shows from ANY YEAR (preferably 1985 though!) That is it for now. I am not asking too much, am I? (^_^)

Another yes for Sunshine Daydream. We have heard about this film for years. 35 is long enough. That is more time than the start of WW II to the resignation of Nixon. Please, while some of us heads are still around and have the eyes and ears to enjoy it. It's release won't do us much good when we are dust. Do I contradict myself? I've seen a couple of different versions of Sunshine Daydream and I can understand why the band chose not to release it (at the time). My personal opinion is that when Jerry saw the guy losing his mind over his shoulder during Dark Star he felt the cause and effect was a bit too vivid for theatres. That said, I would love to see it officially released and would hope that they kept all the Prankster animation and overall documentary feel.

Just in case the number of requests are a factor. When it comes out if you could try and include a full shot of the decorative tapestries that covered the scaffolding and stage that would be cool too. When we walked into Rich Stadium that year our mouths were all hanging open...that face was freaking us out!!!

I'd love to see a fat bounty offered for the missing Festival Express reels, because the movie, fabulous as it is, is made from about a third, tops, of what was originally shot. Including, evidently, the reels the camera guy's kids used for hockey pucks. It would sure be swell to see the rest of it, "children of Calgary" and all...

The cameramans kids used them as goal-posts. Too big to be pucks. (Up here you can by hockey-pucks anywhere!) Concerning the missing reels, I wonder who would one entreat to produce these?

Since I think there was a fairly diligent search at the time the movie was being made, and this is all they came up with. So they may just be irretrievably gone. But (knowing nothing of Canadian TV), I do wonder if there isn't some logical venue to broadcast the word that people are looking for this stuff and willing to pay. And probably not ask too many searching questions about provenance. I expect there may be some murky rights issues, and on the other hand some of them may be moot after 35 years. I am not an IP lawyer...

...I note in passing that I have no knowledge of any actual extant film or plans to do anything with it, and that watching the film again leads to a lively appreciation of the veritable morass of rights issues probably involved. Bigger than a drive-in movie, oowee. Anything I'm saying is from pure wishful thinking. That said, though, holy moly. And thank God for freeze frame.

First off, I own every officially released DVD and lots more that our intrepid friends have produced personally. I have been desperately waiting for a new DVD ever since the re-release of Dead Ahead. I know there is some killer stuff available, because I have a fair amount of it in un-official release. Some ones that quickly jump to mind are the Summer Solstice show with Clarence Clemons and the Germany '81 show. I would really like to see Deer Creek '93 third night (dark star > the wheel) and 5-6-90 (just a killer show). Merriweather Post '85 would be a really stellar pick as 6-30 may be one of the best shows ever. In general, I would appreciate it if some wide angle shots were incorporated into the videos. I know that most of the vids are taken from the screen caps at the venues, which are all close ups, but I experienced the dead most from a distance, with the full light show. The videos that are available, even most of the un-official ones, are all close up shots. Candice did such a brilliant job and her work is almost entirely missing from the video releases. This is a shame, and frankly, leaves me longing for more when I sit down and watch the videos. Just a bit of venting. Frankly, I would be really happy if you would just release some more videos, is one every 6 months too much to ask? - a very happy deadhead

well, the top of my list would be more stuff from the 70's. the complete 4/17/72 would be amazing. herouville '71 could be made into a nice release. 8/27/72. stuff like that. but... since it is more likely that rhino has access to 80's/90's video, i'll second 7/7/89 as a great example of later day dead. this era is already well represented in video but 89/90 was just a really strong period for the band. keep it coming.

The bevy of high quality summer 89/90. Was an apex for the band, and the video/audio is top level quality, so why not dare I ask?And whatever is left of Winterland Closing 74 (if anything) And the reels of Festival Express Trip. And whatever else of high quality is available. Not picky, would just like "many and often"!!!! “The Omnipotent Grateful Dead!”

I've been downloading videos' for a while now and from everything I've seen I'm sure there's all sorts of tasty Dead video footage just sitting there. First of all I have some footage of The Ramones at Winterland in 1978, it's black and white pro shot. second in Kissology Vol 1 there is a show of theirs from Winterland 1975 that looks exactly the same. Then today I downloaded a Who video from the Cow Palace in 11/20/1973 that looks just like those others. On the bottom on the screen there's a time counter on the left side and on the right it says "BGP Archives"!! So you have this camera set in The Cow Palace at the end of 1973. So why wouldn't Bill Graham have put the same set up in Winterland at the same time? So if we conced they have this set up in place at the end of 1973 then there's probrably footage of the shows at Winterland in February 1974, and the one at the Cow Place in March, Possibly The Winterland shows from The begining of November 1973. And every show the Dead did at either the Cow Palace or Winterland from that time on. So make with the goodies!!!! Get on it now my moneys getting cold!!!!Check Out My Orignal Music at myspace.com/salaversano

So, 10-4-70 was a quadrophonic sound FM-TV simulcast by KQED? It would be awesome to somehow get that reconstructed. I heard the rumor that they are not of high resolution. But hey, we'll listen to shitty old casette tapes! So, how about getting into it, digging in the dirt, and putting out a nice 5.1 DVD remaster??? In general, I vote for anything pre-1978 to come out, even if it's a compilation in the vein of the Led Zeppelin DVD box set. Something like that would be great. Sure, I'll throw in for Sunshine Daydream too. Although I have the bootleg & it sort of disappointed me a bit. I'd rather have seen the concert footage in the proper order, with all the songs... nevertheless, it's one of the greatest shows in history and it's amazing to see the 1972 Oregon scene. All the prankster hemming & hawing just kind of gets to you after a little while.

I was at this show in Jamaica in '82, and at the 3 day festival there were video cameras everywhere! On the stage, camera booms were being lowered from the stage in front of the bands and into the crowd. None of this ever surfaced. I remember "Feyline Productions" from Colorado being involved with the video shoot. Would be awesome footage to see, the Dead didn't come on till 4:30am and played till after 7am. They stalled Scarlet Begonias until the sun started coming up, then went into Fire On The Mountain, incredible! Where is this footage.....

just start releasing them more often. i'll take whatever. only got to see 1 show live! i'm an official release whore. brent fan, if we're getting down to the nitty gritty but any dvd is worth it to me, since i think seeing them adds to the experience of trying to relive these shows. egypt would be cool....multiple discs with as much of the wandering around exploring egypt footage as possible (bill walton with crutches exploring the pyramids, that weird guy inside that tomb making music of sorts, billy by the pool talking about there being a craft inside the pyramids, the flag being planted on the top, etc.) obviously. i know the piano wz out of tune and the drums were minus an arm, but from the little i've seen jerry rips it and they're having a blast. sunshine daydream is the ultimate "duh". guy with boner and all, you'd sell tons! anyway, just release whatever you want, but do it more quickly and regularly please.

Saw a decent copy of Sunshine Daydream once, been waiting for it to come out on video ever since. I was told the many bare breasted camera shots have been one of the reasons for it's not being released. I find this a little hard to believe, being that the show is so good and footage from that era is quite rare. Hoping it's gets a legit release soon. Patrick

Woke up this morning and oddly remember seeing this live on the USA network all those years ago. It was also a FM radio simulcast in my area (CT) and a good one at that. There were interviews w/ Bob & Mickey inbetween sets with Father Guido Sarducci. It was set up alot like the 78-79 broadcast (no Bill G. flying in on a giant joint though), and I think it would make a fine DVD release. After "Sunshine Daydream" this would definitely be my next choice. Any of you out there who remember this broadcast or even just heard the show and liked it, post your requests. Maybe we'll see it get released sometime soon. Love to all, Patrick

I have a copie of Sunshine Daydream. I watched it just a few days ago on my day off. I had a 8/27/72 revisited day if you will. Early in the day I was at the local record store and they had the Vaneta 8/27/72 New Riders set on cd for sale. So I bought the cd and this triggered me to dust off my burnt copy of Sunshine Daydream(that only plays in one of my dvd players?) and I made an afternoon of it. Listened to the NRPS cd first, Im pretty sure its their whole set stage announcements and all. Then I popped in the Sunshine Daydream dvd. It was a pretty good afternoon. The Vaneta footage is great there is also just a few minutes of very early dead at the beginning. This being said I do hope they release sunshine daydream I would defenately buy an official release, I like getting sets and nice packaging I also enjoy extra pictures and essays and good quality sound thats why I will always buy a new release even if its a show I have on tape or something. PLEASE RELEASE SUNSHINE DAYDREAM!!!! I also just read something about the bickersaw festival from england 72 being broadcast on tv that would be a good dvd release.

What's not to love? why do i need another feed from the jumbotron cameras, when we could have THIS video, that people worked so hard on. i can't believe that SO FAR is not the most talked about, here. but i hope my voice is heard. peace
