    DVD
I really enjoyed Dave's chat and also found it very informative. I would be interested if there is any possibility of a future DVD of GD with PigPen. I know Dave alluded possible "Sunshine Daydream" release. But would love to know how much additional early GD good quality vids are available that have not been seen.

    and one more thing
I totally agree with your assessment of what guest musicians brought, and often detracted, from the band. My one quip is your comments about Townsend on 3/28. I think his performance is less about being dumped into a family conversation where you don't get the inside jokes and quirky references, than it is about a family (or part of it) and their guest going to the banquet table of whiff one too many times. Been there done that -- I find it pretty painful to see Jerry and Townsend chewing their cud the way they do (although there was some fine music played that night)!

    video chats
That was good -- my vote is to keep them coming. A couple comments: 1. Taking the "uncensored" questions creates a nice open environment, but also results in some bad questions that are a waste of time. Might be good to solicit some questions beforehand that can be screened, reflected upon etc. 2. This is a business. You are rightly proud of the first Dave's Pick, You rightly plugged it time and time again. No shame in that; it's just kinda of annoying to hear you preface each and every plug by insisting that that is exactly not what you are doing. 3. I can't believe you don't have 5/7-8-9/77 in the vault, but I love your idea of that as a boxed set. In fact, that is the "boxed set" I make as gifts for people all the time, and what I use as my "dead accessible" intro for the curious-but-uninitiated. You've never put out "feelers" to the people with the source reels -- it's pretty obvious to figure out who he/they are... 4. Sorry to hear there are no videos in the pipeline. My vote -- a box set from Alpine -- restoring the two shows that are cut up to comprise DHFH to their full glory, and including so many other chestnuts from that run (not the least of which being the totally seamless (if short) Sugar>Scarlet and the incredible Morning Dew).

I found this to be very informative, things I knew about and things I didn't too much about and/or rumors, Dave put them to rest. I didn't summit a question but my question was asked and we got a good answer about the Sunshine Daydream movie. The unexpected bulls-eye surprise was the show selected for Dave's Picks, Volume 2. If you don't know by now what it is, watch this video! Thank you, I liked it, something to do again.

I watched the entire thing, lots of good info. No mention of any Bluray plans in the future. Vol. 2 sounds really sweet, with a bonus too. Looking forward to the whole thing. Really wanted some more 60's stuff. Phil

Interesting, some good info, hope to see more of these. What I would really like to see would be a discussion, or even an actual official post/list of what shows are exactly in the vault. I'm sure there is a database/document/list of the shows that are there. I'd like to see that released. Love the accent and the way you pronounce your last name! Thanks!

The Bluray plans may or may not be true, but I thought I heard that. I do recall quite specifically him saying there are plans to rerelease the 14 live videos as a compilation package. It would not make sense to me that they would put them out as dvds again. That being said, that may or may not be the case they will be blurays.

Dave, et. al. - I really enjoyed the live chat. The transparency with the entire process is refreshing and much appreciated. I would love to see more of these - perhaps once a quarter or every other month. Not so frequent as to become banal, but often enough to keep us all apprised on the goings-on in Camp Dead. Thanks again!

Dave! Dude -- 74 is a fantastic year. Please be insistent that sound is cleaned up and try to get rid of that hiss. A fine fine example is the GD movie soundtrack. That is a fantastic piece of audio from one of the best periods. Clean sound (some hiss yes) but man that is a fantastic job - especially when the vocals where not the best sounding that year (sung well, sound not so good). We all don't need to hear it like we were there. We want to hear it clean full and all instruments blazing. Listening to the Eyes from 07/31/74 as I write this (I am a subscriber) and I just hope it is cleaned up - (My Charlie Miller mastered version is foggy). I guess DP 24 just had a nice tape but it is a pretty good one. RT from 74 was great music but just needs that extra blemish reduction -- don't worry nobody will remember that level of detail anyway ;-)

Love the choice for this release!. It's less than a week before my first Dead show (8/5/74) so I'll admit I'm partial, but it IS a great era. One request: Could you guys please put a segment of the Seastones set on there? Some of us really do love that stuff.

Hey Dave, Really enjoyed the chat. Meant to ask, "how did you get this job!?" BTW, I'm with Equinox on the "Seastones." Some of us really do love that stuff!

I'm about 20 minutes into the chat and Dave has mentioned videos several times and mentions stuff coming out on "DVD". Will these releases be DVD only or will they also be on Blu Ray?

I greatly enjoyed the video chat and hope that these will continue! It was great hearing such cool inside information about the Dead, their history, the shows and the archives, and Dave is a very cool guy with the best job in the world :)

really. I do feel that it would have been released by now, if it was ever or is ever going to be. if any show deserves releasing THAT one does.

into the vault, fun history, info on your role/scope, and how the process of releases can take place. That said, I thank you for the hope that 'good people' could someday get the 8/27/72 field-trip available for us all to enjoy in crisp video. Another question on my mind is regarding all the unused concert film shot for the 74 dead movie. Wasn't there much unused footage? I loved the bonus material on Disc 2 (actually more than the film itself for the completeness of songs) which included footage of several of the songs from that run. Would it be possible for some day to have a official video release of that concert footage shot from the filming of those 1974 shows ? The soundboards circulating show the Dead at the height of their powers and I believe that such a release of concert footage would delight old and new heads alike. David, is such a release a possibility as well?

Really enjoyed watching the first online video chat with Dave. It would be great to have these on a regular basis. It would be cool to have Dave do one with Jeffrey Norman if they can find the time. One thing that Dave said that concerns me. He mentioned Missoula ('74) as being a possible bonus disk for Volume 2. This surprises me, because I think I really great show like that should be saved for a separate release on its own. I have a copy of that show, but I would really like to hear that show after Jeffrey works his magic on it.

Really enjoyed watching the Dave online chat. Perhaps in the future he can do a sitdown with Jeffrey Norman too. But whatever the case, I hope Dave decides to do more of these. One thing he talked about did surprise me. He mentioned that he was considering including a bonus disk from Missoula, '74 with his Volume 2 release. I have a copy of that show, and I think it definitely deserves to be a full release on its own. I was looking forward to hearing just how great that show can sound after Jeffrey works his magic on it.

Listening to this now, it's kinda cool how many future (at the time) releases were mentioned. Dave's Picks 5, Spring 1990 boxes, 30 Trips: 83, 84, 89. Hopefully the Chicago 1991 show will be release soon.
