Well a lot of your descriptions are subjective to the listener. So, with that being said some of my suggestions might not be exactly what you are looking for but here you go: 1. 2-14-70 Dick's Pick TOO and Dark Star are absolutely killer and spacey as hell. 2. the Field Trip 8-27-72. For me this show is a melding of their really psychedelic stuff and the jazzy influence of '73, but there is some great psych-rock here. 3. Fillmore West 1969: the Complete Recordings. If you can get your hands on this box set, you will be set because this is their pinnacle of acid rock and killer stuff. In my opinion 68-through really '71 is the height of their acid era. So if that is what you really want then you can't miss. Once you branch out into late 70's and all the way until the end, you will find a much varied band that can rock-out on any tune on any given night. Not to say they weren't great in the 60's and early 70's (my second favorite year is 1970, after '77), they were--just different and in a good way. Happy hunting!!

I am a young Deadhead and I have been absorbing every dead show I can get my hands on. Right now I've been borrowing all the live Dead I can from my limited resources, but my hunger is insatiable and growing still. I am looking for suggestions of shows that are extremely spacey/psychedelic/out there. Jams that stretch on and on and take you to another planet, primarily through the instruments and not so much through vocals. Shows that just bleed electric acid vibes through your body and mind and leave you changed. Can anyone give suggestions of particular shows I should seek out?

Wanted: reliable person with copious quality shows (preferably without gaps) on CD who wants to trade. I have a pretty extensive collection, mostly from 70's era, but am always looking to fill some holes (right now the Northwestern 11/1/73 is much desired) and acquire more Brent era Dead. PM with your email and we can exchange lists.

I am looking for a great sound board copy of this great show. The "Dew" is absolutly amazing--worth while on its own. I have about 250 shows on tape but most don't want tape and I don't have a digital converter (yet). So I guess I will have to do a B&P. If someone is interested, you can contact me at pwyatt30@yahoo.com. Take Care!

Hi, I would really like to make a serious Dead and JGB collection. I have started about 8 years ago when I was in high school. Yes I am young I am 26. Some people think I am too young to be a Dead Head. But Jerry has really inspired me and made me the man I am today. What I really want is to find a really big database of music I can put on my computer and convert to mp3s or burn to cds.. Youd think that with computers and fast download speeds you could just download gigabites of shows... Archive.org the only thing you can download are audience recordings. I really like sugarmegs but its hard to put in all the tracks for each show. I am using nero and thats not really working well... Does anyone have any ideas?? I would really appreciate. tphuber@gmail.com

I have well over 1000 hours of GD, ABB, Springsteen, jazz, SCI, Dylan, etc on tape, and now I have a deck that converts tapes to digital. I don't want to throw all these tapes away - bad for the environment, and a waste of years of meticulously collected music. I'm willing to give these away in bulk, and all you have to do is send postage and SASE - sort of like the old "blanks and postage" deal except you don't even have to send blanks!Just today, I listened to 5/6/89 and 5/4/42. Last night it was fall of 1970 and fall 1973. And I want all this great music to find good homes. I know most of us are digital collectors now, but if you are interested, email me at chip@chipwithrow.com. "Folk rock for groovin families!" myspace.com/chipwithrow chipwithrow.com

Hello,Sittin' here thinking about certain killer board cassettes I used to have and thought I'd put my wish list on the board. I have dail up, so bit-torrent etc. is a non-starter for me. I've been on the VINE, here on this site for many months and have accumulated around 90 or so shows. I'd be happy to trade or B&P or whatever to get some of these shows which were easy to get back in the day that somehow seem hard to get now??? Well, anyway here's the list: I'll be happy to email my list to you for trading... email to notchloft@aol.com... or PM me. 6/26, 27, 28, 29/76 Auditorium theatre, Chicago 2/ 18, 19, 20, 21 /71 Capitol, Portchester, NY 12/1/79 Stanley theater, PA 12/ 3. 4, 5/79 Uptown Theatre, Chicago 12/6/81 Rosemont Horizon, Rosemont,IL 7/ 27, 28, 28/82 Red Rock's Ampitheater, CO 8/28/82 Venetta, OR 7/22/84 Ventura, CA To name a few. If you can help me out, That's awesome! Email for list Thanks in advance and peace, Andy

I have only receved one post from a NW head (from my previous posts) so now ive decided to offer up the tapes w/o cases (unless you want to pay a little more to include cases) to anyone who wants to pay postage. send me a PM with your requested year(s) and if I still have that year I will send them too you. Keep in mind that I can not guarentee sound freshness as its been years since Ive last listened but I will go off what my J-Card says. (which Ill include) I still have over 1000 tapes and I want you to have them if you cant access the internet or have dial-up. The offer for everything with "napa valley" cassette racks still goes in your in the PDX/Seattle area. Come get them! Eric

The search continues for clean copies of 10/18 and 10/19/80 (Saenger Theatre - New Orleans). The copies I have I am VERY grateful for but, they are as muddy as my coffee is this morning. If you were there or have heard these shows you know why my search continues. The venue, the locale, and the boys were ON.

I have a rediculous amount of tapes and I'm willing to copy a bunch for some in return. I recently got the device to copy tapes into my computer so I can burn them onto disc. Once I get them into my hard drive I'm looking to pass them on to people. Get in touch and we can work something out.

Folks, Yes I know how lame it is to double post the same thing in different topics. Sorry if I'm making you read this twice, but I think this is the most appropriate spot for this: Hey all, I started posting on the original DeadNet Central back in 1997. A huge advocate for the Audience recording, I did everything I could to transfer old AUD masters into digital formats - sharing seeds of AUDs online. I've even had the pleasure of supplying David Gans with an AUD for the GDH and was interviewed on the radio show. I dropped out of the online posting sphere a few years ago, and have just started peeking my way back in (love the new Dead.net forum layout). Mostly I've started a blog aimed at helping people new to the world of Dead music online navigate the choices of shows to listen to, with a lean on the world of audience recordings. Check it out here: http://deadlistening.blogspot.com/ and let me know if you find it useful.

Hi everyone, I am a grateful dead fan, music lover, and graduate student. I am currently working through Tufts University's music department on a project reagrding Grateful Dead tapers and traders. I do not have any experience taping or trading but I am really interested and would like to start trading - especially trading cassettes. If there is anyone near Boston, I would love to talk in person. Otherwise I am available through this thread or by email (MagnoliaRose72@gmail.com). Thank you for taping.

Hello all,I have a bad case of the 'dail-ups', Thus uploading torrents etc, is just near crazy thinking to even think about. I was wanting to make a gift of finding the April 1st and 2nd 1995 Memphis show that me and my lady friend went to all those times ago. Anybody out there have a copy of any of these 2 shows? The good memories of hanging out that weekend at the dead camp at the river banks is still fresh in my mind reading these forums the past few dayz. CD or CD-rom/DVD-r prefered. but tapes are even welcomed. I can transfer to the computer if I have to. Thanks in advance for any info! www.tuckermike.com

Hey all - I went to a show in Cheney WA in the middle of October 1978 - it was in a gym I believe. Bob Weir Band opened for Jerry Band (with Maria Muldaur AND Donna!). After sleeping in a fresh cut wheat field that night and making it back to Missoula, where I was living (and have been again since '94), I was so inspired I borrowed a friend's guitar and started to learn. I've been gigging since '82 and would love to hear that show, no matter the quality. Who's got it? Thanks so much, friends. Larry

Otherwise I have found that I can send flat rate boxes with 60 tapes (possibly more with out the cases) in them for under $9. If your out of the area and want them let me know!! So I have this thing I do for my friends and family. On their birthday, I make them a CD of the Grateful Dead show that happened on the day of their birth and give it to them. It's kind of a cheap way of getting out of "buying" something, but it's my way of spreading the vibes and trying to share some Dead love. Obviously, I can only do this once, or I'd be giving the same gift to everyone every year. It's worked pretty well, and I've even converted some folks to the family. I've been able to find shows for almost everyone, that is, except myself. I was born on February 7th, 1979, the night of the notorious Carbondale show in Illinois where Jerry "supposedly" had a bad reaction to Valium. Archive.org has this show available for streaming, but that's it. If anyone has a copy of this show, I'd appreciate it. I'll foot the shipping or whatever. I know this isn't the best sounding show, but I'd like to have it anyway. Peace, Caleb “Let there be songs to fill the air.”

Hello, I'm brand spanking new here... But of course a long time Grateful Dead fan. I had a tape back in high school (1981) that blew my mind. I unfortunately lost it way back when, and have spent years trying to jog my memory as to what show it was. Well I finally figured it out. It's from 12/1/79.. Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh. How do I go about downloading this most treasured concert? I found a site that streams it and it has been a delight to listen to again after all these years... but I'd really love to take it with me on road trips. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Keith

What's up? I was curious to know why can't some of the music sharing be done via email? I have all of my music in .mp3 format. I know some of the files can be large, but if one manages their email with Microsoft Outlook, you can receive .mp3 files. Yahoo and Gmail email accounts could be file size constrained. I have a bunch of music and want to share it. However, I also don't want to break the law. It's all good. Bamski

My brother moved out about 10 years ago, and has left his massive collection of Grateful Dead & Phish live tapes he recorded during his Dead Head years. He hasn't expressed much interest in keeping them and my father mentioned ebaying them. However after some research I've come to find out that selling these tapes (or you guys buying them) doesn't really happen. So I'd like to offer the collection to anybody here. I'm in the process of cataloging them but for the most part they are recordings from the early to mid 90s in venues surrounding the NY area. There are about 100 or so tapes that I just want to ship off to anybody who would want them. Unfortunately if nobody wants them, I'm just gonna chuck them. If you want some more info, feel free to email me at mstrit63@gmail.com Hope to hear from you!

The only complete 91' shows I have on tape are Charlotte & Greensboro NC. I think those were in April. They did "Loose Lucy" at the Charlotte show. Both of these were indoor arena shows so the sound is not all that great but ok. It's been 13 some years, and the "last" show 7-9-95 has not been released? I am still waiting too. For crying out loud, it could be one of the downloadable series sets.
