    Dancing outside the venue

I was living in Berkeley in 1986-87. I lived close to the Greek. I didn't get inside this show, but I joined the throng of Heads outside dancing to the speakers placed outside!

even when sloppy, the GD are great
listen to this show for the warm energy, and just-plain-fun factor. Definitely different than 6/10/73, but it still puts a smile on my face.

Was surely the ultimate 3 day run of shows of my tenure over the years as a devotee as everything seemed to change after that season. I think of great shows afterwards, especially the Shoreline runs w/ Bruce Hornsby, but Brett died soon afterwards and and it kept lookin more and more like the "Old Man" was gettin on. Soon after Jerry had his diabetes coma episode and the feeling became more of "it's just a matter of time" and, alas, the momentum never really returned. But I witnessed 3 days at the Greek and scored free ticket for day 3 from the roadie scalper selling tickets out back. SCORE!!!!! and what a Stella Blue on day 3, many say they saw him crying.......... But after Brett, it all changed........

Drove from Eugene, saw Friday and Saturday's shows, then attended a Wedding in San Mateo.I remember My Buddy's hatchback wide open in the gravel parking lot of the reception site, drinking bubbly, Jamming to the Broadcast & wishing we were there!

My good friend at the time...John..??? from so cal got busted before the show for selling hash...little did they know there were sheets of paper in his Opel...I remember driving back to the dive hotel in his car and getting pulled over for a tailight infraction...opened the glovebox and shit....found the reggy in there and got me a ticket for a tailight!!! LOL....had to fly back in 2 months to prove it was fixed....went to court the next day to get him out...the lady judge was wearing tie dye under her robes!!! John missed a great show!!!

This was a pretty strong Greek show from start to finish. Very cool when they seemed to take a mini break before coming back out after Brokedown for the Box of Rain. By then alot of heads had headed into the streets, but when they heard the band come back out they all came running back in. It was great. Phil- "you people will cheer for anything!" before busting into the Box. A memorable afternoon to be sure and a great way to end another great Greek run.
