    Remember the days
When we used to survive without all the AC? It seems like a different kind of hot these days. Of course, all older people say that. You have to wonder, though, what it would be like if sun spot activity, solar flares and such, suddenly wiped out the power grid for the month of August? Going to the mall wouldn't be an option. Checking your elderly neighbors would become a responsibility. Switching over to a more reliable food supply sans fridge. It all adds up to a degree of misery we'd all rather not experience. Experts say it is more likely than not.

    That triple-digit heat wave
Pulling into NC today. With a heaping dose of humidity in tow, I hear. Three words to explain why it's easier to cope with this kind of heat where I live now compared to anywhere else I've ever lived: central air conditioning. Hotter than a match head, indeed, Ted! Stay cool, folks. Positive vibes to the people dealing with wild fires and anyone trying to survive this oven with just a fan, or less, for relief.

Hot town, summer in the cityBack of my neck getting dirty and gritty Been down, isn't it a pity Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city All around, people looking half dead Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head... (Mark Sebastian 1966) Hard to believe Lovin' Spoonful sang this song 46 years ago! Meanwhile it's literally hotter than hell in most of the US this week. In Kansas, we'll be over 100 with no precipitation in sight. Keep those prayers and good thoughts coming for our friends in the mountains. Looking forward to our US Supreme Court decision in a few minutes....

First, it's a horror in Ohio with 3 dead at Chardon High School, then deadly twisters rip through Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and possibly in Kentucky or Tennessee today. In Kansas, we had 70 degree temps yesterday, now it's snowin w large flakes, confusing birds, humans and spring flowers alike. !!

Rain is but a tease in south KC this morning: 72 degree temp is very nice, but we can't seem to squeeze any rain outta them grey clouds. Meanwhile, up north of KC, rain is supposed to fall, Interstate 29 is still closed for the Missouri river flooding (thank you South Dakota!) the lowlands from Omaha south into Kansas and Missouri. Newsman this morning says they are diverting Joplin tornado FEMA funds to help pay for Irene's storm damage back east....

Death toll rises to 5 in Vermont
20 towns remain cut off from the outside world in Vermont. The devastation has been staggering. There are no people in the state, no matter how old, who can remember such a flood. Where there are towns connected to roads, bridges and pavement have been washed away. People are staggering around with a glazed look in their eyes. Many have lost everything and extremely few have flood insurance. This has been an extreme tragedy. No one had any real idea that this was possible...

If you like fog, You're welcome to visit my neighborhood. Yes, folks, Pacifica, California does host its own annual Fog Festival each September in special honor of the dense, clammy, gray coastal fog bank which drops in when you least expect it - and makes you feel winter is just around the corner. We're right in the neighborhood near Devil's Slide on Highway 1. I'll see you at Linda Mar Beach!

Redbuds are profuse this year. Jack Frost has been good to us by staying away, so far. Today we have blue skies, scattered wispy thin clouds, with an expected high of 79 F. I planted 4 Better Boy tomatoes last night!! Last time I checked, Trifecta, Sierra Leone was on the Atlantic. like a steam locomotive, rolling down the track....

it IS-gr8fulTed"Sierra Leone, officially the Republic of Sierra Leone, is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Guinea in the north and east, Liberia in the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean in the southwest and west" pasted from Wikipedia Trifecta was also confused in the Heads of Africa thread ********************************** Don't part with your illusions. Ya you guys are right it is the Atlantic. This is what happens when you live in Asia where everything is about the Pacific. Anyway, i stand corrected. Sun just set and there were some torrential down poor coming in from the "Atlantic" and now it is just humid and as i write this message i am sweating my !@##$ off! I am over looking the ocean from my room at the Bintumani. The room comes with worn out towels, roaches, fuzzy TV and an occasional power outage. God i love it. Tomorrow i am going to Banana Island for the day.

Another beautiful day but a bit cloudy as we are heading into the rainy season here. Last night the sun set on Atlantic Ocean was breathtaking with purple and red spectrums blazing beneath puffy purplish clouds. Here comes the Sun King.

We have a SW wind blowing up from the Yucatan and Gulf of mexico which means HOT weather. In the mid 90's and humid broke several records. No ocean breezes. Spent Saturday with 2 friends who have seen the Dead several hundred times. Mothers Day made the wife her favorite French toast casserole and took her to see Harold and Kumar movie which sucked and then a nice italian dinner at home with the kids. And the road goes on forever.... BobbaLee

I just saw the weather report spotlighting a T.S. named Bertha as has been seen by Mr. Pid, Candyman and you gotta take notice when a storm with hurricane potential goes by the name of Bertha. Suppose to be in play tracking toward the US Thursday. Ahoy matey's and islanders, coastal dwellers...Bertha's coming round. Maybe she's just passin' through...but give her plenty of room. "Ran into a rainstorm" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Maybe the sun is shining, birds are singing, No rain is falling from a heavy sky." Robert Hunter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
