    I love Jerry!
Admittedly, Garcia had increasing troubles remembering lyrics in the later years, but I can find a show for any year you want and show that he was still fantastic. I followed the Grateful Dead from 1980-1995 and I saw many earth shattering shows! Jerry's soul was bigger than his addictions and I surely sopped it up like gravy. Long live J.G. R.I.P.

    Jerry
Sorry I have to agree on some of the Jerry comments, after 1986-1987 Jerry as they use to say about Keith in 1978-1979 was just"not there" I remember him standing on stage not even looking up, head down the whole show & just always looked "out there"...it was sad to see so that was it for me.

I have been listening to the show from 3/6/08 and these guys are hot. I am glad Bill is back at it. Pay us a visit in the NW guys. If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. William Blake

Hey now, Ratdog are so kickass they are so soulful jazzy. Anyone that dares to put down Bobby has not heard the passion he has been playing with. Ive heard Jerry was doing junk after the Europe 72 shows. I love Garcia but he really lost his edge after Mars Hotel. I really think Phil and Bobby saved his ass so many times. I toured for 10 years and around 85 people who said the DEAD were lame, you cant really argue with them. They had a lead guitarist who couldnt play or remember lyrics he wrote. I got a tape of their last show a few days after the show from my girl who still followed them just to stay with the family. When I heard them open with Touch it sounded like, lets not go there, but I knew it was over. Sometimes I think if we as Deadheads didnt put such a demand on Garcia and the band to tour NONSTOP Jerry may he rest in peace would still be around. I know he was addicted and a junkfood junkie, but still give him a year between tours. Bobby sounds GREAT and all I want to do is this last summer tour with RATDOG, just to be around my friend and community, and Bobby is playing so good right now I cant pass this up!!!!!!! PEACE LOVE IMPORTS and FAT TYE DYES and GREAT MUSIC make the world go round, HEADYS help too. R.A. G.B.T.G.D.

Hey Z, Do you have a clue as to what you are talking about. First off, I reread the messages before you and no one said anything about Bobby. I am not sure where that came from? I went to three of Bobby's shows in the fall of 07' and they were incredible. Especially the Raleigh show. With that being said, Uhh Jerry..... I must assume that if you toured for 10 years it must have been the last ten years. My favorite era is from 79' to 82'. Jerry was absolutely magical. That magic could be seen all the way through to the end of his life even though I would agree that those moments were fewer and further in-between from 86' on . But to say that Jerry was washed up after Mars Hotel really exposes a lack of first hand knowledge on the experience. Just go to 11-30-80 and listen to the second set and tell me that Jerry is washed up. I really could mention so so many shows after 75' that are other worldly and would singe your ears. That is if your able to sit back, get rid of the neg tude, and listen. Either way, peace brother, good luck where ever you move to. Now, as far as Billy. Wow this is great news. I also must catch one of these shows. I want to see the true master at work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dougles

I'm so glad Billy is ready to exercise his musical mojo again..... Hope these guys make it to the west coast, specifically PORTLAND, while they're on this new adventure. I can't vouch for all the scheduled venues, but there should be some lucky heads in Baltimore~ The Recher Theater in Towson will be a great place for a close look. Caught RatDog there a few years ago when visiting (the first time I saw Bob with a beard, in fact) and it was an intimate blast. (Not a cozy space, mind you, but intimate; then again, the vibe cozed it up in no time : ) On that same visit, I saw the Trichromes open for Phil & Friends. What a score~ Billy did a solo drums during a Truckin' jam, and what a treat for someone who'd never seen the early '70's Dead with solo Billy. Loved it. Happy Birthday, Bill! Have a fun tour & don't be a stranger to Portland!

Was at the show at the Tower Theatre in Philly on March 30th. BOTH sets were first rate. Can't stop replaying the downloads of all the shows offered on the tour. I dare anyone to listen to them and come away with anything negative. The band has a little Coltrane, Bird Parker in them with Kenny playing sax.

It's easy to bash him after he's dead and there's noone but the people who loved him to stand up for him and defend him. This is typical of the kind of big liars who go around spreading crap, and their dumb kids will believe them. Eat my shit Zarnzzo! Suck my dick if you know how!

Not a career tour junkie here. Saw 30 shows between 83 and 93. '88 was my personal favorite. Probably luck of the draw. Saw a few particularly hot shows that year and saw a couple real weak performances toward the end in '92/'93. But...as many other things in life Dead shows could be hit or miss. But anyways....wanted to jump on the Billy wagon....from the perspective of a Max Creek fan from the east. Billy did a radio interview with Scott in Mass. just before the debut performance of 3 in Northampton in March. BK talked about the show they did in Costa Rica w/Gordon on bass in January. Talked about how he'd finally found that guitar player that he wanted to play with for the forseeable future. So hopefully, you folks out west will get the opportunity. It's been written that they'll be releasing a CD this fall. Check this act out. I know Billy will be the larger draw but those who show up for that will get hit smack in the side of the head with the greatest guitar slinger this side of anywhere. I mean it. I've watched this guy play for 21 years and I honestly believe he is the best guitarist in the entire jam band scene. The guy just f'n shreds. You will be absolutely blown away. But don't take my word for it. Ask Billy. Or Mike Gordon. Gordon's been a Scott disciple since he was a kid.

You all ready know Billy has the goods but your in for a treat if you've never seen or heard Scott Murawski play. As a spoiled northeast creek freak Im afraid the secret is finally out, that Scott (simply called "X" by the creek faithful) can indeed rip it up! Its nice to see him finally get some national exposure. I saw their practice/opening nite gig in Northhampton, Mass and was very impressed with the powerful jams the TRIO brought. Rock on X and enjoy the tour---sweens

yes, Scotty rules...deserves every bit of this.... will be interesting to see him without Mark on keys. For those who aren't famliar with Mark Mercier, he is unbelievable. Hornsby is the only one that I think compares. If not familiar with Creek, you have to see em live to appreciate but, here's a couple more... Hey now I have to agree with those posting about Scott / Max Creek I too followed the Creek for a long period of time even before I saw the Dead. Scott has it happening and to team up with BK just adds to his resume I would be interested in finding out if there is anything from the recent KBM shows posted anywhere to take a listen I tried Archive and there is nothing posted as of yet Anyone with info let me know?

Wow! I saw these guys on their last stop in Burlington. I was floored to see Billy. He was totally the glue in the band. It was so cool to hear Oteil's take on Dead tunes and Phil's lines. Cohesive and funky. X rocked my world. Im stoked to see him with Mike Gordon this summer. That Languedoc is so pretty and that tone is just majestic (as is the work of another Languedoc player...). The sets both started with 30 minute jams that sounded great. I could not believe what I was seeing when I walked into the half-full venue on a Saturday night and walked right up to the front of the stage. Billy didn't drum, he danced. These guys were on point and they seemed to be enjoying themselves very much after a handful of shows playing together. My grin went to an ear to ear smile that I could not wipe off of my face when Page came out. Although he seemed a tad rusty on the Scarlet, it was so nice to see and hear him after almost a year of him not playing out much. Not to mention ol' Cactus, who played bass, keys, and guitar that night. Even though Mike is a staple at a lot of Higher Ground shows (in crowd and on stage), it is always a pleasure to see/hear him play with such superb musicians. I could not have asked for a better experience at Higher Ground that night. Incredible music and Magic Hat Lucky Kat all night. Next to the Ratdog Charleston, SC show, this show takes the cake so far this year for me. Anyone else out there see the Charleston show? Smooooaaakin'!!! Anyhoo...keep rockin' Billy K!

Caught 5 Of the New England Shows, This Trio Is Awsome.... Have Seen Scott Murawski More Than 100 Times With MAX CREEK alone... 94-Present...And several times with Guests the likes of Jeff Pevar, Derick Trucks, Mike Gordon, and many Others... This Guy Is My Idol... Him And the boys from Creek can and have thrown down any tune,be it their own or anyone elses, at any time....! As for this ZARNZZO comment... Did you see all your Shows with your eyes shut and ears blocked? Bobs playing is Ok, I guess? And did he too not have help in the creativity process... Jerry's Musical and Instrumental abilities are far Superior from that of Bob. And at one point I belive in the Mid 70's He was about asked to leave the DEAD... I personally think his existense in the Band was out of sympathy from the other Members....

The early comments on Jerrys drug use and his supposed forgetfullness of lyrics in this topic, and all that bashing of the late shows is a bunch of bunk, i myself was very lucky and seen two shows, one at Soldier Field 93' and one at Buckeye Lake, in 94' and i consider myself very lucky to do so, there are many fans who trade recordings, and go see RatDog and Phil, that would have loved to see The Worlds Greatest Band!!! The Grateful Dead, even if it was in the early 90s or even 1995,,,, So What,,,Jerry might smoke a big fatty and forget a word or two, i woulda done worse, WHO CARES!! if Jerry didnt give you a perfect sing-a-long sorry!! you were lucky to see what you seen,, if you seen them at all!! i was at RatDog show the other day in PA and some fan was barking how Bobby should clean up and get a Haircut, shave he said!, , Screw these fans who want to bash, these are same people who back in seventies would have been wearing checkerd pants and had a buzz haircut every summer by there momma, F*** OFF!! if you dont like what you see here go see a Winger show or a Back Street Boys show, i love the Grateful Dead any year they played, stoned Jerry or Not,, singalong or no singalong,, i love em!! WE LOVE" EM!!! EST-Proph71
