    Robert Hunter fanmail address
Hi all, I am very keen to post a letter to Robert Hunter thanking him for a particular lyric I heard last night. I heard it when I needed most to hear it and I need to express my thanks in writing. Does anyone know if he would accept mail via a record company or any such means? Many thanks, Anthony - Sydney, Australia

"Tails from the Golden Road" rebroadcast question
Is there a place to listen to the rebroadcast of "tails from the golden road" besides the rebroadcasts on the satellite radio? I have a Sirius subscription but can't ever seem to catch the show throughout the week. Is there a website that you can stream it from or something like that?

Help to Identify Grateful Dead Hookah - 1960's - 70's
I have a friend who was given a Bear Head hookah. He was told that this belonged to a stage hand from the 1960's-70's and that a member of the Grateful Dead gave it to him. There are a couple of symbols in the pottery, but no markings. Does anyone recognize this? Thanks. let's just say

there is no single answer to that question.

I mean, back in the day, one guy famously amassed so much vacation time that one year he could do every show one year as paid vacation, and some people pay their way by vending, though this gets pretty precarious, and some folks, frankly, beg. Others pick manageable subsets of the tour and do that, for starters, like a weekend or a week, to get their bearings, make contacts, build relationships, etc.

I would say, this is not something to rush into. Go to a few shows. Hang out with some folks. Build a few relationships. Decide who you like. This is a pretty benign scene, but that does not mean that it is any fun to be a thousand miles from home with no money and not knowing a soul. Doesn't mean a wonderful miracle won't happen, but better to have a plan.

I was looking on tips for how to tour with the band. I've heard about all of these Deadheads who follow the band and know that people still do it for Furthur. But what I'm wondering is, how? I might want to do it and I want tips. How do you make an income and get tickets? How do you get from town-to-town? How do people afford food, etc.? Just how?

    Looking for tunage
Hey hey! So I would say that I have been hooked on the dead (and post-projects) for about three years. I know... not too long. I am just starting to sort through all the era's any thoughts about where to get started? I get the 70's (mostly later) are the hot years. But for some reason the 80's and even some of the 90's shows are speaking to me. I like exploration but only if it goes super far or I like good old fashioned solid shows. I love that Lindley Meadows from 75. Love it. Love that Boston Music Hall show from the winter of 76, forgot the month, but I love that sort of exploration. I also love the spectrum shows from 88... blah blah. I am more looking for suggestions from others to expand my horizons. I would love to trade, too. Rather spend money making a connection with a person rather than itunes or whatnot. My email is sylvaindelaney@yahoo.com if anyone feels life hitting me up and spilling some knowledge into my mind. Thanks a ton!

Des Moines and Louisville both have mix problems at the start of the show. Perhaps a good audience recording will have Bertha for 6/16 and Jet on 6/18. Who was running the board back then: Owsley, Healey, Cantor, Kid? Remember, the Wall of Sound was up and certainly demanded a lot of tech attention.

I attended and have a copy of this concert from the archives sound board but the first tune, Bertha, only has half the instruments and no vocals. Does anyone have a clean copy of Bertha, the first tune??? If so, you can contact me at: w.antonelli@sbcglobal.net Thanks BillyA52

I'm trying to piece together some of the shows I've been to. Anyone know the dates when Led Zepplin was playing Winterland and the Dead were playing the old Fillmore? How about the date for the Winterland show that Wavy Gravy announced from stage that refreshments were being passed around "take a sip and pass it on." I don't think a lot of people heard the "sip" part :-O!!!! Seems to me Mr. Gravy may have been in a bodycast, but then my vision was fluctuating somewhat. That show might have been the Indians on Alcatraz Benefit. Any help appreciated!

there are two concerts that I have found to be pretty good in quality and structure. 06-24-1985 when they played in the River Bend Music Center, and 03-24-1990 when they played at Knickerbocker. These two concerts I could listen to for hours on end.Dead is Better!

Would be 9/15/82, per deadbase. Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

buckeye110 If you go to the top left of dead.net and click shows&lyrics it will give you the option of viewing a list of all shows 65-95 by date. Or you can search by year and it lists #of shows per year. If not there it sounds like dead base is also helpful but Ive never used it myself. I research dead things in the shows and lyrics area all the time and they are usually pretty accurate. Oh yeah you can also search by venue.

trying to find an awesome show I'd never heard until I was in a bar a while back and the kitchen staff had taken control of the music. there was a show they were playing from the late 70's or maybe 1980 from florida where Jerry was singing all of Bobby's cowboys songs and it was cool as hell. I've forgotten the show and am really itching to get ahold of it some how. need to know what specific show it was to find it though. thanks guys

I don't know where this should go, but does anyone have any info on the Terrapin Station Theater, Hotel and eatery that was going to be built by the band? I remember that there used to be a website link for it on here way back when. I found some info on the internet about it, but not it's demise or postponement.

I think I attended four in all.... Two at Wembley Conference Centre, London, in the early 1990s. One at the Rainbow, Finsbury Park, London. One at a venue near the Aldwych, London, but I cannot remember the name of the theatre. If anyone has got any info about the London shows... Thanks

Hi, I am 26 and really love Jerry. He is my idol. A lot of people say that I am too young to love this music. But I disagree. I am looking to build a really strong collection of Dead music. I used to trade tapes for a while but I figure with the internet there should be databases of music at my fingertips. Is there anyone out there that can help me out? I have been to sugarmegs but the shows do not have track breaks in them. So If I wanted to burn them on cd or put them on an mp3 player I would have to listen to the whole show. I have also tried to get the program furthurnet to work but I am no computer genius and I cant get it to work right. Please help me out.

I suggest you take yourself over to the Vineyard and sign up for a few vines. Don't sign up for all 300 of them at once or your mail carrier will hate you and you'll be spending all your time copying and mailing. But it's a great resource.

Jedi, if you don't mind streaming off the internet... take a look at archive.org they got thousands of soundboards available for free streaming. I plug my home theater thing into the 'puter, or use ear bud ear phones, and it sounds grate. they got audience recordings available for free downloads, but I never learnt how to do that. peace.

I'm from Turlock, and just getting into collecting Grateful Dead albums/concerts/etc. A few years ago, I bought the Europe '72 CD, and that's where I first heard either Bob or Jerry introduce Truckin' as the number one song in Turlock, CA for 2 weeks...etc. I've sent emails to all my folks friends who lived in Turlock during the 60s/70s and they don't remember any Grateful Dead shows in town at that time. So... what's the Turlock connection? Any ideas? Any info helps, as my old college roommate thinks that Turlock is a big waste of time, and nothing good has ever come from the city.

I'm looking for a source for some Peter Stone Dead sterling silver jewelry. It was available until a few years ago, and I can not find anything, but a few Dancing Bear pendants. I would like to find a few of the bigger pieces, ie.large SYF, or SpaceYF pendant, dancing skeleton bracelet, various rings. I am also looking for a few of the cast belt buckles that were produced by GDproductions, or the bolt buckles that were produced by Liquid Blue in Amsterdam. I have done the google search thing, and am familar with the online stores, like hippishop, liquid blue, woodstock, and others that come up when searching. There was one store online that had some buckles, but it was in Japan, and I could not read a thing. Maybe your local head shops still have some stuff in stock, or your buddies with that guy that has it all. Any help would be great, cash or trade hit me up, Peace, Billy bill@bareboneschoppers.com

i recently made a purchase on ebay of a frank zappa book along with an older deadbase (#3) and some random taper covers (awesome, calvin and hobbes ones and stealies that were huge late 80's early 90's and if you have treasuered tapes from then, you know the ones i am talking about) anyway the guy included a three hole punched over 100 pages of a home made song book called looney toonz there is no information about it other then the name looney toonz on the bottom. it is complete which is amazing, and all i can think is someone must have been making and selling these at shows...it is really cool and i would love any info on who made it or if you know of them or have one or anything! i am assuming, because of the materials it came with it is late 80's early 90's (very early, like 90 91) made any help, thanks!!! it has an index in the back and well over 100 songs in there muffin www.creativemuffin.com

I know... I KNOW that I saw the Dead in the 90s in either Vegas or Eugene play in the hot summer. It rained, cooled everyone off. The rain ended. They played "I Can See Clearly Now (The Rain is Gone)", but I can't find it on any set lists. I'd love to download the show from archive.org, but can't find the show I KNOW I was at. Thought it was '93 in Eugene when the Indigo Girls opened, or my last show in Vegas '95. Am I still hallucinating? Help and info appreciated.

...Deadbase returns no hits when queried for "I can see clearly now (the rain is gone)" or any of the permutations I tried. Looking at just "rain" and Vegas, nope. "rain" and Eugene (the stadium shows), again nope. Generally they played "Box of Rain" or "Looks like Rain". I was at the Vegas run in '93 and although it stormed nearby (that was the "dude got hit by lightning" year) we didn't actually get rained on. If you don't already have it, here's the Deadbase link to noodle around on -- be careful, it's addictive! http://www.deadbase.com/homebase.html ********************************************* I have a sigfile! --> www.kindveggieburritos.com *********************************************
