I made a post in the families forum on July 3. It was there later in the day as I logged on to let my wife read it. Today (July 4) I went back to the forum to read any new posts and my post was not there. I'm not very computer savvy, but am curious has to how and why this happened. Thanks so much for any enlightenment on this.Peace.

I am sure many would share my sentiments. I have enjoyed the new site thus far, the Tapers Section is great, met a few new people already, I'm sure it will only continue to grow.

Thanks for the info. It just seems foolish to me that the Download Series is no longer available, hopefully it is short term and will return. Ratdog, Gov't Mule, Phish, Widespread Panic, and many more all have downloads for sale on their sites, seems like it would be purely a cost effective profit maker as there is no hard product to manufacture, ship, etc. I saw a posting on here the other day by someone that said "alot of Heads he knew are in fact dead", given that statement and the fact that we all are getting older, common sense would tell you that there are less of us today than there was 10 years ago, the longer it takes to get the music out there, the fewer sales there ultimately will be. Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic every time a new archive release comes out like Three from the Vault, and I do purchase them all, but it should have come out years ago. (Don't get me started on the JGB stuff!) I realize it takes time to remaster stuff, and there is no way to do this every piece of tape in the vault, but it doesn't matter that every show is sonically perfect, the demand is there. If you take look at the Internet Archive at http://www.archive.org/details/GratefulDead and see how many times each show has been downloaded, this proves my point and if they charged a fee to download from there instead of allowing just the streams, that would be a hell of alot income for the band and its staff. Yes I agree the old philosophy that the music is "free" doesn't apply anymore, but it would make alot of people happy if they just made it available. I'll get off my soapbox now.

No, doesn't require an iPod, and the iTunes software has Mac and PC versions. You can play the music, burn CDs, etc. and never use an iPod at all. I used it for years before I bit the bullet and bought the iPod, and boy did I look silly sitting in the airport listening to tunes on my iBook... The more audiophile among us think there may be better audio formats than the one iTunes uses, so you may want to wait for them to weigh in here. (Or ask over in the Technical Discussion topic in Tapers.)

I think it could be done, though I tear my hair at the thought of retrofitting what's already up. It's a good idea, as we've been getting a lot more artwork from folks lately.

What is this in the forumsI saw one about 1974 Miami show I assume that you sign up and someone mails you the CD and then you pass it on? Sorry I am not really uh knowledgeable about this. Planning a big party when i get the Pyramid shows. Thanks And the road goes on forever.... BobbaLee

It is indeed where people who sign up share shows by passing them along for the next person to copy the CDs and then send them on. There is a variety of Grateful Dead, Garcia, Ratdog, Phil & Friends and even other artists music to share. Click back to forums, then scroll down to the vineyard, click and browse.

Why does it always say "You are not allowed to post new forum topic"? Are we only allowed to respond to Admin. issued Topics on this board?

In short, yes. However, if there's a topic you'd like started, we're generally pretty responsive.

I have no idea. Delighted as I am to see you around these parts, it seems to me all the various Obama fundraiser topics are alive and well, other than the one with the original press release, which did get rather summarily removed as arrangements were not exactly firm at the time. If you want to PM me the particulars on this mystery please do!

There are more people who are willing to be Miss America! Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

its because no-one pays attention to the independent candidates, most of us are just concerned with the two bloated bloodsucking political parties that have the most money (our money of course) that's all they see. you must look beyond these vampires....plenty of other candidates out there but it's harder for them to get on the ballot, because, again, money!!

Im so sad that all of the tickets are sold out for the Dead Heads For Obama Concert at the Warfield!!! You guys need to have another show so the rest of your fans can have a chance of seeing the greatest band ever supporting the best presidential candidate of our generation!! I would drive across oceans and fly through time and space for those tickets!! Please consider it, Morianna

I have a question: say I wanted to make sure dead.net folks were aware that HeadCount was auctioning off certain music-related items, like: 1. A Warren Haynes, custom Gibson Les Paul Guitar, signed by Warren himself 2. A Pearl Jam poster from their 2008 tour, signed by every band member 3. A Fender guitar signed by every member of the Allman Brothers Band and Bob Weir & RatDog 4. A guitar signed by every member of My Morning Jacket 5. A Rothbury poster signed by Snoop Dogg, Dave Matthews and three members of Phish 6. A Mile High Festival poster signed by Dave Matthews, John Mayer and 10 others 7. A pair of Congas played by Jay Lane of RatDog along side Bob Weir at a historic private performance in Washington D.C. on April 7th (signed by both) Where would I post something like that? (I get HeadCount emails, let me know if you want me to forward you the email with the auction link) ((Snoop Dogg, Dave Matthews and Phish - you know that's the after party to hit!))

marye said: "we could start a topic for HeadCount I'll try to deal with it in the next day or so." Don't worry about it mary, you've been swamped with starting new forums. I just wanted to post the auction list somewhere. The Ratdog/Allmans autographed guitar is still only $1000, and the Bob Weir autographed congas are an affordable $370. thanks, Mark
