    I can answer that.
The band was set up at mid-court, believe it or not. I can't imagine what they were hearing. Additives to the collective cortex enabled me to experience the Doppler Effect in a beautifully visual fashion, a sort of Viking portcullis buster to the heart chakra. Still remember JG's smile...so many dreams to remember. Yes, a special night...AND a great prelude to Madison's St. Padrig's Day fete. Still wondering how I survived.ps

I paid homage to this show on a visit to Madison, sneaking in a side door of this curious structure just to check the place out. Knowing they had played there was so cool .... found myself wondering what end of the court the stage had been set up at, etc. What a night this must have been given the environment.

    Camp Randall Fieldhouse...March '71
First performance I attended. The "Old Barn" was a terrible place for anything unless the ear-splitting dissonance that accompanied a Badger basket against Marquette was your vibe. Nonetheless, this show will always remain my favorite.Pig still alive and well. Hunter's words reverberating, resonating, entraining with virgin timber beams. Dr. Garcia on pedal steel, a Mendota to Monana grin disarming the badly camouflaged "undercover" boys. NRPS lagniappe! Loud hello's to Doran, Ellen, Hellerstein, Z, Gleason and the rest from 2001 Monroe, an Iliad. Shout back if you can hear me. ps

My first Dead show and one of my first major concerts. I was somehow allowed to tag along with my older brother and his friends. After oh these many years my recollections are as much about the audience as the band. Wow, so this is what a rock concert is all about!
