"We have the technology"....don't know why this flashes me back to the Bionic Man/Woman tv daze (well of course I know why), but my wife is about to have knee replacement surgery. I think that I'm freaking more about it than she is -- can't shake the idea that they are going to CUT THE "OLD" KNEE (which is to say, her real one) OUT...and if something doesn't go quite right, it's not like they can put the old one back in, can they? Her recovery will be tougher than it could be -- she's had to stop taking the meds that have been keeping her arthritis at bay, won't be able to re-start for a month after the surgery. This will make the re-habbing on the knee all that more difficult, but she's stubborn and tougher than she looks, so I'm confident all will go well. Extra healing vibes request to help through this...thanks all!

My dear friend and ex boss in Spain just called me this morning with the devastating news that his father died last Wednesday. I had the pleasure of knowing Senor Rey, and am truly saddened by this news. He was such a cheerful, peaceful man, with kind smiling eyes. I used to run into him in the street in Sevilla, from time to time, and he always had a kind word, or would insist on carrying my groceries home with me. Jose, his mother, and younger brother are devastated; and Jose told me that his father died in his arms. He said that the loss has not fully sunk in yet-for example he almost phoned to check on his father this morning. Jose and I spoke for a very long time today, and his deep sadness was striking me very hard. I have a very clear visual image of Senor Rey, and am feeling very fortunate that I had the opportunity to know such a fine person. Jose's younger brother has MS, his mother is devastated, and Jose is assuming the role of head of the family now. He needs our love and support vibes, in order to be able to handle processing his father's death, managing the details of the estate, running his business, and getting through his loss. He told me that his family has been somewhat comforted by the outpouring of support from friends, aquaintances, and former co-workers, and that there were nearly 500 people at the funeral, from all over Spain. Friends, please help me with sending strength and peace and recovery vibes to my beloved friend and his family. It is very strange, as working for him down in Spain was sometimes very very tough, but the fact that Jose had been trying to reach me here in the States, (he tried to call my cell phone several times) so soon after his father's death has reminded me of what is really important-our personal bond is deeper than any professional stress. And to have heard the loss in his voice is breaking my heart. Adios y paz Senor Rey, una persona muy especial. Te vayas nos falta. ********************************** Education: that which reveals to the wise, and conceals from the stupid, the vast limits of their knowledge. Mark Twain

To say that it has been a long week in my household is an understatement. After a much longer wait than we would have liked we found out that the pathology results on my son were clear of all cancerous/precancerous cells. My wife and I are incredibly relieved at this point. Thank you to everyone who sent prayers and positive vibes our way. I know that the warmth and support you have shown towards me and my family will come back to all of you. Though I am Christian, I firmly believe in Karma, and that is why I know each of you will be blessed for the kindness you have shown to me and mine. Again, thank you.McB "...the powerful plays goes on, and you may contribute a verse" -Walt Whitman-

Certainly great news for McB and family. My experience today: I hadn't had any type of surgery since kindergarten when my tonsils were yanked. The operation today was like a finely-tuned assembly line from the receptionist to the wheelchair trip out the door 3 hours later. As the anesthetist wheeled me into the op room, I swear some guy in fishnets and a nurse with begonias, tucked into her curls, went twirling past me!! I'm thankful to all who expressed good wishes. With Love & Peace!! >> Gr8fulTed

peace through musicHi and positive Love vibes to all in need and not in need. Cause " all you need is Love". My 30 year old son Norman is in the hospital in a coma and on a ventilator for the last week needs your prayers and positive vibes right now. He has been to over 400 Grateful Dead shows when he was younger and he is like a big teddy bear. And he is so full of love and kindness, whenever someone was ill and he would pray for them, well he seemed to have a hotline. I haven't had a chance to be home to write but much love to all and Happy Grateful Thanksgiving Day.

Thankful be-well, get-well peaceful vibes for Norman, and a big hug for you, Kid. Poor puppy!!Wish her the strongest love and cancer-fighting vibes I can. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. Hope we can all take a moment or two to think about what we are thankful for- all of our blessings, amongst all of this woe and chaos. Extra especially thankful for Deadnet people and marye today; because without them, we wouldn't have this media to connect with each other. ********************************** Don't part with your illusions. Terrorism in Mumbai, including @ Taj Mahal, have left lots of people & hostages dead. Indian commandoes, possibly w Israeli help, have gone after the terrorists to try and stop them and free remaining hostages. (Mumbai is also known as Bombay). not quite sure how to define the terrorists, although Pakistani/Islamic influence has been suggested, with main targets being Brits, Americans, Jews.... according to news I've read.

not the Taj Mahal, from what I could tell on TV. Pretty horrible scene, though one of the things that's coming out in the interviews with locals is that there are terrorist attacks by the boatload there and this one just happens to be a lot more grandiose.

unfortunately India has had A LOT of terror attacks in recent years. and this one was not at the Taj Mahal Palace in Agra like mary said. One of the luxury hotels in Mumbai, a historic place, was named the Taj Mahal Hotel or Taj Hotel. Plenty of places are named Taj something all over India. This shit happened in Bombay, now known as Mumbai, as Ted pointed out. Mumbai is the richest Indian city and their center of commerce, like their Wall Street is there. YES, it has been reported that the terrorists were asking people to identify their citizenship, and seemed to be targeting Americans and Brits, clearly with the attack on the Jewish center in Mumbai, they also were targeting Jewish people. This leads me to think think is some kind of pan-Islamic attack; They also shot up the train station which is primarily locals. Some cafe frequented by back-packers was also hit, as well as the luxury hotels. This may be the first case of terror in India that was, partly, clearly directed at westerners. another side problem is that this attack may be 'blamed' on Pakistan (true or not) and stir up more bullshit between them over Kashmir. There have been suggestions at some link with that, though... they caught at least one gunman, so hopefully they will get some 'intelligence' out of him. When asked what country are you from? I ALWAYS answer Darkstar. no joke. ++++ vibes for all folks over there, their families, and friends.

if more people actually gave a F? Here's one maybe you didn't see coming. Mucho positive vibes to intolerant morons the world over who fail to see the inherent idiocy in attempting to violently inflict their religious beliefs on others, that their eyes and minds might be opened, and they learn to grant to others the respect they seek for themselves. Peace and tolerance are not the goal, they are the way. Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

or is it hear, hear?? i'll send some of those type vibes out ! now back to that "F"... what could be more positive than a GOOD "F"? and if everyone got one, then gave one back maybe it could start a movement. and if everyone was busy getting and giving than there really wouldn't be time for the aforementioned "inherent idiocy"now would there!

IS "K" whats that spell, what's that spell, Well c'mon all you big strong men another country got it's self in a terrible jam, just over near the other stans. So put down your books and pick up a gun we're gonna have a whole lot of fun And it's 1-2-3 what are we fighting for. Well anyway that tune goes through my head regularly and I ad-lib to whatever the sit is. We have made alot progress on the global war on terrorism. But as we all see it is not over and may never because of idiotic fanatics. And as we see no one is immune. Maybe that's the problem they don't F enough. Everyday I read the star's and stripes and shake my head to all the dumb shit the world over, like people dying at wal-mart being trampled and womens child lost to injury, to morans shoot each other in toy store WTF is going on. The India deal and here in Iraq the average is 2 american deaths per day. Sometimes man I just want to go away to the moutains and say fuck it, I did my part and isolate myself from society and only relate with animals trees and well of course deadheads. But that really wouldn't be a way to still give hope and peace to others after I have put down my rifle. Would kinda be like quitting. Anyway heres some positve vibes to all to look out for each other no matter who it is. Most of us know that just a little love and light goes a long way. Everywhere is freaks and hairies Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity Tax the rich, feed the poor Till there are no rich no more Id love to change the world But I dont know what to do So Ill leave it up to you Population keeps on breeding Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy Life is funny, skies are sunny Bees make honey, who needs money, monopoly Id love to change the world But I dont know what to do So Ill leave it up to you World pollution, theres no solution Institution, electrocution Just black and white, rich or poor Them and us, stop the war Id love to change the world But I dont know what to do So Ill leave it up to you
