Got it at 12:02AM. Subject says "Roseland Confirmation". Body of email is sparse. Venue instructions, time and location of show, and my name in bold print. Has a link at the bottom for Dead.net complete contest rules.BTW, I sent GDTSTOO a rather direct email about an hour ago telling them what I thought about the whole shebang.

Confusion about "Guest" - Help Dead.net, need some clarity (^_^)
I am a winner for Roseland and I did not see any place on my entry form to enter in the name of a guest. My winning email clearly states that "I have been selected to receive (2) tickets" but I do then also see on the email that it says, "The person accompanying them must be the same individual whose name is provided upon entering the ticket giveaway and this person must also provide a valid state-issued PHOTO ID in order to enter." And, my winning email has my name as BOTH the Winner and the Guest! Myself (Winner) and my guest are driving from very far tomorrow for the show, so we hope to get some clarity on this here in the next 12 hours before we hit the road! Boy this is confusing!!! I am praying that this is like how they did it when Phish played at the Filmore and you simply need to show up at the door with your guest (whoever it is) and if your name is on the list (as the winner) for 2 tickets it gets you both in. If someone from Dead.net gets this with any affirmation or clarity on this you can email me a response directly at antonio@dailypassion.com See you on the dance floor! (^_^)

Further evidence that the latter part of the email related to the sweepstake entry on Friday from 6-9 is because this is what the entry form asked for, which is in the fine print of your email: Entrant's First Name Entrant's Last Name Entrant's Email address First Name of Entrant's Guest Last Name of Entrant's Guest

This is the email I got. The top portion clearly does not sound like a sweepstakes entry. I took it that I had won. I figured the bottom portion of the email related to the initial entry into the sweepstakes from 6-9pm on Friday. When I get an email stating "You will be sent an email confirmation voucher that you must print and provide for entrance to the event", I take it to mean "You will be sent an email confirmation voucher that you must print and provide for entrance to the event".

Just like the superbowl, out of thousands of seats theres actually few real buyers. Most of the tickets go to vip's, promotions, radio contest, etc. The 60's are gone, no more digger philosophy of things being free and playing in the park for nothing. Theres greenbacks to be made good sir. 5 minutes after phish announced their summer tour i had every detail i needed , and i havent fount out shit about the dead tour since they announced it. Guess im just impatiant. sorry about the negative vibes, seems alot of people are wondering the same though. Just not feeling loved by the dead team.

Hey, now. I think it's cool that we've got the presale info we've got and not any more. Imagine if a password was already known. Talk about ticket shut-out. As it is, I'm amazed at how many non-heads are asking me about the tour announcement--just that much info made about every surviving US paper and flew around cyberspace. I remember once when I wanted String Cheese tickets and wasn't a member of their online site. I didn't get the needed password and had to wait on tix. That was the last time I didn't sign up and sit tight. It's all good. Talk about exciting!

To all of you who have never looked into the way that basketball/hockey arena concert tickets get scalped, here is the process: SEASON TICKET HOLDERS (usually only the FULL season tickets, not the partial season packages) in SOME seating areas have, as a sales incentive, the right to purchase their same seats (and/or, in some cases, preferred location floor seats) for virtually all concerts and special events on a "right of first refusal" basis. That means that anyone with season seats can simply notify the arena (within a short window of opportunity) that they wish to exercise their concert ticket option, pay the list price for the tickets (plus the standard "service fee" to cover the cost of shooting an 8" x 1-1/2" piece of thin cardboard out of a printer slot) using their on-file credit card information, and the tickets are mailed to them automatically. Since many of these season ticket holders have little or no interest in live music, they choose to exercise this option and then to resell their tickets to a scalper at a substantial profit, essentially allowing them to use concert tickets to either 100% finance their box seats or even to turn a profit. These individuals work closely with ticket brokers and pre-guarantee their seats to them, well in advance of the ticket sales date (and since they can pre-notify the arena box office and pre-authorize the ticket payment through their on-file credit card number, those seats are seldom available through general public ticket sales. Fortunately, a good number of the venues (including--fortunately for me--the Forum in Inglewood, CA) either are non-sports venues, are venues that do not offer this particular benefit, or are facilities (like the Forum) that no longer host major league professional sports teams. I remember, back in the '80s when we lived in Long Beach, CA, we gave serious thought to buying L. A. Kings season seats at the Forum for exactly this reason (of course, now the Kings, Lakers, and Clippers all play their home games 20 miles away in downtown L. A. at the Staples Center--and if THAT place offers this benefit, I can't imagine that ANY good concert tickets make their way to the general public at face value, what with having to satisfy season ticket holders for THREE teams...).

Let's just take a breath and wait. When have the boys left us hangin? In the old days we had to go to the post office, get a stamp and money order (or 2 if there was lawn seating and you wanted to be sure to get a ticket), decorate and envelope and mail it off. That was some painful waiting. The digital age has ruined us all for the greater appreciation received when something takes time. Savor these moments of anxiety and expectation. What else could get a bunch of hippies this on edge but Dead tix?

I was thinking about the days of the pre-sale party..... A bunch of my friends and I would camp out on the side of a record store a week before tickets went on sale. I remember during the touch head days when we got tickets for Red Rocks the guy at the counter told me to check my tickets. So there I was just outside the door goinin' through my tickets and security comes out like two seconds behind me and yells sold out. We had this guy shoving cash in our face tellin' us I'll give you $250 a piece for every ticket you got! I know everyone is anxious and frustrated with no pre-sale info, but I have gone through the same thing with other bands and did just fine. Try and keep those good vibes flowin.... peaceful journey to you all!!! Saint Stephen with a rose. In and out of the garden he goes. Country garland in the wind and the rain. Wherever he goes the people all complain.... Shine On! Saint Stephen

I agree that the presale password has to be kept until the last minutes and being a season ticket holder for the Seahawks when they offer us presale for an event the password is normally held till the last minute.. This was it would limit the perk given to us since with the internet nowadays it would be all over the web in no time.. I have a few questions to get prepared to get online so I can get seats ASAP Is Ticketmaster definately selling the tickets ??? I just want to be set up and also need to find a location that sells tickets for Shoreline ahead of time.. Does anyone know the prices yet ???? What time do tickets go on sale ?? I know alot of times it is 10am but I have seen a few people mention 9am Thanks and Good Luck to everyone

I figured prices would be a little steep for this tour, but .....wow.My wife and I were really hoping to make a weekend of the 2 shows in NY. As much as I love this band, I dont think I can swing it. Best case scenario: 2 tix to Nassau = 114.00 2 tix to MSG = 117.00 2 nights hotel =350.00 Gas,Beer,Food, etc =200.00 Total =$783.00 Chance of the band living up to my expectations 50-60%............. I'm sorry to be negative but I'm bummed.

On the web link for the venue at The Forum, they have a couple of tidbits of information that SUCK: 1. PARKING is reportedly $22 - 25 per space. Expect that a motorhome or a bus will get a higher fee to park, and that all such vehicles will be confined to a specific bus parking area, probably with parking personnel directing them to specific spaces. 2. (and I quote directly from the site) "The City of Inglewood does not permit tailgating. It is not uncommon for the City of Inglewood to issue citations!" Something that may dampen the chances of an extended or added-to summer tour is that all four members of The Dead front their own full time bands, and that the "solo" tours are the major source of income for their close friends who comprise the musicians in those groups. An extended Dead tour would mean a long-term major drop in income for almost all of those fine musicians, and you can bet that Bobby, Phil, Mickey, and Billy ALL feel greater concern for their close friends and musical collaborators' welfare than for the desire felt by fans for more Dead shows. As for the chances of taking those groups along as opening acts, there is no such chance--not only are the set lists too similar to those that The Dead will be playing, but (I checked) our beloved Dead are getting a bit long in the tooth, and they're going to want to get SOME sleep between performances (which is hard to do when you finish up at 2:30 in the morning and have to be in a different state within 10 hours). They are also likely to want to spend SOME home time between tours (this is why they buy homes and build families).

Other than at concert nightclubs (where tickets seem to hover in the $20 - $25 range), the $40 - $100 per ticket prices are very normal these days. If you want to see a HIGH price at the concert, try buying ONE beer. It'll make the ticket price seem reasonable. Furthermore, when I look back at the $2.25/hour I was earning in 1977 to pay for a $6.50 ticket and compare it to the money I earn now as a teacher, I find that I can get a ticket nowadays for only 1 or 2 hours of work compared to the 3 hours it used to take. In this perspective, I'll cope.

I was looking forward to going to either the Worcester, Hartford, or Albany shows. But when I saw the ticket prices. NO WAY!!!! $100.00 to $102 for good seats, and between $49 & $69 for the nosebleed seats. That does not even include all the service fee's livenation/ticketmaster is gonna add on. I can understand maybe charging $75 tops for the good seats, and $35 for the cheap seats. And, I know touring is expensive, but we are in a major recession!!! Most fans, like my husband and myself cannot afford these obscene prices!!! Only, the super wealthy.

I can make the 8 hour drive to the venue be able to feed my myself and make the 8 hour drive back home cheaper than i can buy a ticket (including gas). You can also go to a festival, stay all weekend and see 50 bands cheaper. sorry to be a drag, but damn...........

What a great documentary of the 1970 rock train tour of Canada. The footage was almost lost, in part to the fact that some thought that the bummer of the tour, the controversy regarding charging anything for tickets, would dampen anyone's desire to check it out. Luckily it was found and restored cuz the music and atmosphere on the train was really on the bus. I remember how young Weir was and how upset. Over all these years I've NEVER felt ripped off by the Dead. Just Grateful.

Must agree with most folks that 50 to 70 bucks is about normal for concerts mild compared to what it is going to take for me but may not get too many chances- hoping to hit the old stomping grounds and do Greensboro, DC and C-ville (?) hot damn that ought to be cool!

Is the gdtstoo site affiliated with this site or are they different? In other words, is mail ordering for tickets through that site the only way to get them, or will there be a seperate online option here? I'd MUCH rather do the online thing. At least you know you have them (or not) rather than tying up loads of cash and hoping you get them.

These ticket prices seem just plain wrong to me. A hundred dollars a ticket to see the dead, without Jerry, in this economy? Come on, guys. I understand wanting to make some money, but be reasonable. These prices are not reasonable.

Wow. I'd love to see these guys, but at about $70 a pop I guess me and the missus will have to stay home. In the old days we'd always order an extra or two to make somebody's miracle on the day of the show ... guess those days are over ... It'll be a miracle if we make it. It's a rich man's gig. Sad I won't be there, but much love and good vibes to those who will be.Peace. Critter in Philly
