Well....How to put into words. I just finished seeing both Shoreline shows and the Gorge. My last experience with any Dead members was Phil and Friends w/Bob Dylan at the Gorge in 2000, before that was West Coast 1995 ending with the last Jerry show in the Bay Area at Shoreline. I was thrilled, to say the least...every aspect went off without a hitch. The shows were fantastic, better musically then I could have dreamed. Each show had a stellar highlight, but if I had to chose a favorite, I would say the first Shoreline show. Help/Slip/F.T opener, and we knew we were in for a nice ride. Too much to relay and reflect on...so I will just say, take what Mickey said to heart...take this good feeling out into our communities...build on the dream...live your life like the planet depended on you.

I'm sure I"m not the only one, but after listening all night on Saturday and hearing Phil do his donor rap, then hearing Mickey come out and thank the crew...I just couldn't help but feel sad that this tour was done. Like the others before me - THANK YOU BOYS FOR A REAL GOOD TIME. I can't even put into words what this band and this community means to me, and I just feel extremely blessed to be a part of it. Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile!~Tam

i had an event AFTER the show, that ruined it for me, i held off ofr 5 days, to get it resolved, but.... my wife got sick at shoreline, RockMed, the heros they are, got my wife to ambulance, right after the encore, i bought wristband, picked up CD in time, b4 ambulance left, well... the 3rd disc dont play, i missed the 2nd half of 2nd set 2x sofar. the CD only has dead.net listed as contact info, they tell me on phone they dont FIX venue sold items. WHO DOES?? how do i get the 1/3rd of this show i paid for, and the recording wont play? why does it take 5 days for dead.net to still not have answers for me on how to replkace this disc, other then REBUYING the download for $15 more!! this is what the opperator told me, at dead.net i didnt buy a download, i bought a concert bought, pressed CD. i spent good cash for it, all i want is what i paid for, thank you. if not, return my $25 for this half a show, and i will stop going to shows alltogether. me and my wife collectively have over 200 shows behind us, this is the ONLY bad exp i got from 20+ years of going to your shows. is it so hard to step up, and give a bit of service to those who pay your bills, lines your pocket, the fans.

    My highlights
Nice story Supertacks! As I sit in a hotel in Montana, 500 miles from home I am still dazed. We had so much fun and I felt like I did 20 years ago. Being stuck in the rat race I really needed this tour for many reasons and on many levels beyond just seeing a concert. Here are some of my highlights of my 10 days of craziness: * Walking into the Pepsi Center and everyone is just going nuts - hooting and hollering, we weren't even inside yet!! * The Denver acoustic set and especially Deep Elem Blues was so so good * Taking my daughter and wife to Shoreline for the 20 anniversary of my first show at ... Shoreline!! What a feeling dancing with my little girl in the same place I first danced 20 years ago * Help Slip Franklin opener ... St Stephen the 11 encore * SHOOT!! Couldn't make it to LA but from what I heard from folks in the lots it was super sick. * Now on to Shoreline May 14. This show folks was so good. The best post-Jerry show by faaaaaar. And I would say maybe one of the top 10 Grateful Dead /The Dead shows ever. Seriously I will stand here and defend that statement that it was was one of the best shows I have EVER seen. You can read my earlier review but when they were playing Fire all of Shoreline was in one wave of cosmic trippy dancing it was so beautiful and it reminded me of back in the day * Getting a 70 year old super cool lady high for her first time at Shoreline * The fire dancers doing their thing to Mickey's thunder * Seeing the Gorge *Hearing Dire Wolf and Althea and Eyes * I will say this about the Gorge though - it was like the boys finished shoreline and were like "oh shit we still have to play the gorge" * I am a new huge fan of Warren he had me in tears several times this tour. Just as one girl was shouting as she marched through the campground at the Gorge - "Warren - Motherfucking - Haynes!!! ORDER OF MY FAV SHOWS: 1.2ND SHORELINE 2. DENVER 3. 1ST SHORELINE 4. GORGE Thanks for a real good time and please come on tour again!! Can't wait for Ratdog this summer! Thank you all for your wonderful vibes!!! I felt them!! "Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space. It rainbow then exploded, left a bus stop in its place. The bus come by and I got on, thats when it all began. It was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to never ever land"

    Closing thoughts on the
Closing thoughts on the Spring Tour I am 45 now. Up until 04 I had not been to a “Dead” show or derivative of since 90 or 91. I was 27, 28’ish in 91. I caught on at age 18-19 at City Island in Harrisburg in 82 but didn’t get going until 83. Back then I was still wondering around aimlessly not even understanding that I had not found my niche in life yet. I knew I was not confident within certain groups or types of people and in certain situations but beyond that was just a punk kid. I was going to lots of different types of conerts back then and none hit me like a Grateful Dead show. The reason was that this was one place I could go where I felt I was not being judged by anyone and had no expectation to live up to. Of course I did not realize that then, but that was really the thing for me that made it a great place to go. I gre up during that period and carried on until 91. i took in 100+ plus shows in the time. Fast forward to 04. I went to see The Dead at Montage Mountain for Nostalgic purposes. They were 20 minutes from my house so it was low maintenance. It was great fun and the music was good. If I had to go further I would have said fuck it. I didn’t go there with the high expectations or expecting it to be like it used to be. I had a great time, got home to bed, and was asleep by 11:30. I listened to Jack Johnson the next day. Fast forward to 08. A good bud works at the Bryce Jordan in State College and emails me way ahead of public knowledge telling me the Dead are doing an Obama benefit. I figured fuck it I’ll go. I got tickets, then totally realized the historic significance of the show among the community, but it wasn’t that big a deal to me. I get to the show and am blown away. November 08 – The Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre is a small and beautiful theater in WB. They are my client. Bob Weir is doing a show there and my phone rings that morning. It’s the promoter, he is having computer problems and needs help. I say “Let me grab my hat and I’ll be right there” They are across the street from my office so I am onsite in 4 minutes. I casually let him know I was at the Bryce Jordan show and he smiles and says let me put two comps at Will Call for you tonight. I had no plans on going. My wife goes with me and the show is killer. Fast forward to Spring 09 The economy is in the shitter, I know of 5 or 6 people who have lost their jobs who are extremely talented. There is little good news and everyone is stressed to the max. The Tour is announced and The Dead books Wilkes-Barre. That’s my building, I do ALL the tech work there so of course I gotta go. WB has no idea what they are in for and don’t open the lot until 4. It’s a full fledge spring tour so the busses were dusted off, tuned up and the caravan is in high gear. The community sets up in the Walmart parking lot up the street. The scene is small but cool. Same ole, same ole, but has a really different feel than the 04 show. The 04 show felt like a reunion show for nostalgic purposes only. This was different. The show itself was good, not great, but good enough for me to check out some other shows online. As it turns out the WB set list was my least favorite of the tour so far. I start to get the itch to go to Philly where I didn't miss a show through the 80's Fuck me. We get in town at 2:00 and it’s just going off. I find myself saying stuff and hearing stuff that hasn’t entered even my most remote thoughts in 20 years. As soon as we pull in I looked at my bro-in-law and said “Lets pour a beer and head over to Shakedown Street for some eats” I am immediately floored because I haven’t thought about Shakedown in that wqay forever. I talked to too many people to count. Many now corporate guys with old shirts on and many hippies, some that came in community busses just like the old days. No one is talking about the economy, Iraq, school shootings, swine flu, the crime rate, the financial crisis, GM, Chrysler, housing, none of it. Everyone is smiling, speculating on the final Set List for the Spectrum. There is much talk of the first “Dew” on the tour. Much talk of the first "Samson and Delilah” on the tour. I had my Hershey 85 shirt on. No less than 20 people stopped me to talk about Terrapin in the rain. There was tie dye, crystals, falafel, burritos, balloons, curry, BO, Patchoulie, much sweet smelling smoky stuff etc. All the symbolic stuff was point on. The vibe was just incredible. If they tour again I will be there. At 45 what I got out of it was every bit as fun as it used to be. I was not there to cut loose without fear of judgment like back in the old days. My life is well defined now and I am comfortable in my skin. But it was soul cleansing and therapeutic to rinse off the stress of everything going on in my 45 year old world. There was this total sense of release from everyone there who was doing the same thing. After just one afternoon and evening . . . (Got home and 3:00 a.m., shower was mandatory) asleep at 3:30 and still woke up Sunday morning feeling more relaxed and fresh than after a week’s vacation and I still feel that today. I haven't listened to anything but the Dead since May 2nd. I DL'ed every show on this tour, stayed up way too late checking out the streams, met tons of new peeps online and have just had a blast. I think we get so caught up in our lives, families, children, responsibilities, and the expectations everyone around us sets for us, that it’s hard to do stuff like this without feeling irresponsible. I am fortunate in that I have a wife who urges me to go have some fun and blow off some steam. I pick and choose very carefully where I use these opportunities and only use the hall pass once or maybe twice a year. He'll I don't even golf. She knows this, so when I bring something up she knows it’s for real. It’s so nice to be able to do something you know, really puts your wife out for a day and she is still supportive and encouraging. There is still nothing like a Dead Show. If several circumstances did not happen that made it easy or convenient for me to get re-acquainted I never I would have. I am not sorry there are more shows on this tour I can’t go too, but truly appreciate the ones I did. I am back in the daily grind now, and the grind is rolling off me like water on a well waxed car. It is so amazing to me that this scene evolved the way it did, and survived. If you look at the era in which we live, it is one of the most unusual occurrences going and I am honored and blessed to have had the opportunity to particpate. God bless the Grateful Dead and everyone that is a part of it. You people are as much responsible for this as the music. I will miss this tour, can't wait for the news of another, and am off to have another grate day!

I would like to thank all the people that unshelfishly volenteer there time to make this site happen.. This place helped alot of us in getting to the show..The majority of bands websites make you buy a membership in order to get the perk of a password for presale tickets... for those that think the band sold out they could of easily made us pay for a fan club but they opted not to and noone had to pay for the presale info.. Thanks everyone here for getting this done to the best of there ability

I can't get over all the negativity surrounding this HUGE event. It IS and always HAS been about the music. The remaining boys are hitting the road and I feel truly honored to witness this event. The music is timeless. The atmosphere is beautiful... Also please stop with the "boring Warren" comments. The man is a truly gifted guitar player. When John Scofield toured with PL&F, I though to myself-will this really work? Scofield is an amazing player with quite a bit of history. Talk about improvisation! Then I thought about Phil's playing and realized "how could it not work?". And let me tell you it worked out really fine. Amazing and memorable show. So in respect to Warren...I consider anyone who has to fill those really big shoes will not only be respectful, but also humbled. I'm looking forward to seeing mr. Haynes play alongside the GREAT ONES. I can't wait till April. I know it will be memorable. As the master of ceremonies once said "They're not the best at what they do, they're the only ones that do what they do." AND MAN DO THEY DO IT WELL!!!!!!!

That's another grate thing about this site, the occasional video clip of a hula-hooping twirly girl loosing her halter top at a show ;^D. Probably not exactly what you were talking about, though. Gotta love the cool people here, too. They're pretty magical, even with clothes on. Could anyone ever imagine taking this long to finally start getting excited about having tickets? This has never happened to me before, EVER! I've been in a very foul mood since Tuesday but I'm slowly coming around. Must be all the positive posts I've enjoyed reading, especially the ones about heads taking road trips to see a show. Did you see the one about being in a business meeting while on-line ordering tics? That was a good one. Anyways, we''ve been waiting for this tour for soooooo long and deep down we all really know the boys are worth the $95.

Here's my question: Why is it legal now to scalp tickets? There are dozens of sites (if not hundreds) that are plain as day that have, I would venture to guess, at least a quarter of the tickets for some of these shows. Stub Hub, Admit One, Ticket Liquidator and ABC tickets, to name a few. I been on these sites and I found that for the Philly shows there is an offer for tickets in section 102 in ANY of the first 15 to 20 rows. Ticket price rages from $943 to $1,131. This is front and center- absolutely the most prime seats in the house. The person offering these tickets has to either work for Musictoday or Consider It Dan because they have more then their allotment of 6 tickets. Or they're counterfeit. According to the user agreement on the Musictoday site this is illegal (see below). Do they really have no way of tracking these people down? Come on! They're as plain as day. So, is it illegal or not illegal? Or is it illegal and not enforceable? Not enforceable would seem a likely excuse but please, spare me. Now who's to blame for the proliferation of these site. George Carlin said that its not the fault of the politicians that they're corrupt and evil and destroying this country it you fools who voted them in. (I'm paraphrasing- go here for what he really said ). If people are paying $250 to thousands for tickets to the Dead, then who are the fools. OK, I'll stop ranting because, lord knows I could go on and on. I have more questions then I have answers. Pessimistic? Very!! "Stop this train I'm leaving." Part of Musictoday's user agreement: "Third Party Resellers You agree not to sell, reproduce for sale, alter, or counterfeit the ticket for any reason, and you assume all financial and criminal liability resulting from the same, including the copying of your unique, bar-coded ticket. Any transfer, attempted transfer, resale, counterfeit, or unauthorized copy is grounds for seizure and/or cancellation without refund..."

I guess you can't post links because the one that's supposed to be in my last post didn't show up so just google "George Carlin on voting."

I supposed a hundred bucks is reasonable.... if there is the expectation for greatness, but I am having a hard time anticipating that. For all intents and purposes, other than the initial Other Ones tour after Jer checked out, the shows seem very under-rehearsed, tentative and downright haphazard. The Phil and Friends shows have always seemed far more exploratory and interesting. Ratdog? Next! Mickey? Moments of magic. So call me the wet blanket, but this fan for 37 years will pass on this one. The loveable, friendly Warren Haynes does zip in jacking up any excitement. His approach is too gritty and the melodic sense is not in the same ballpark as many other players, so that sealed the deal for not going. But good luck, I hope the fans and band have some great shows and that I am totally wrong. But the combination of money grubbing and unrealized musical experiences are keeping me away this run.

ahhh, kicking back with my warm bevvie, watching the sun come up, thought I wuold perusethe tour page, and what did I find? Literally the most engaging, raw interchange of frustration, talking with no listening, farting in to the wind, and then the mountains of men and women that live on this site, guiding, directing, instructing, ducking out (cc-i know your gona read this), ducking back in, and in general taking on the heat, and trying to make it all come out of its vicious hippie downward spiral, while allowing heads to cool, I must say, this is by far the most inspirational example of good deadheadism I have ever seen. You guys know who you are, I aint gonna list you all, but way to f^%*^%&^king go guys. You have made me very proud to be a deadhead, by your willingness to stand in the fre, and try to cool things down. so proud to be a dead head this mornig. i might even CONSIDER going to a show now, just to see if I can meet some of yuo. you guys are f%^&^king awesome! No, by all means all information is welcomed! As I stated I just guessed their cut……now that you say 25% I would say that sounds more like it, being most big business usually net from 10-15% on gross sales after all is said and done. I was just trying to understand what everyone is so upset about…….. when it’s not like each guy is taking home 10’s of millions on the tour. Thanks for the info………..see you at the shows

It seems to me the tide has turned in here. The vibe is better. Even those criticizing, which everybody has the right to do and should do if they see fit, are doing so in a more civilized and rational manner. I am proud of the "regulars' who stood up for the site, and hope that some of the new visitors to the site stay with us. BTW, anyone looking for recordings of shows, check out the Vineyard. Does anybody know how long it takes to find out if you scored a ticket with the mail order? "Let there be songs to fill the air."

JackstrawfromCo. - "Anyone who followed the Grateful Dead that extensively would never be such an a-hole especially to other Deadheads."............. Only imbeciles have to resort to insults. Thanks for proving that point. Who made you the "judge" of other people? Look in the mirror. Only a fool would say Jerry messed up the Dead. It's called an ADDICTION, moron. Do you know what that means? If Jerry was messing up the band so much, why didn't the rest of the leeches dump him. Because anyone with a brain knew w/o Jerry there would be no Dead. I believe that is what happened when he died. Pass the joint? I wouldn't smoke your Schwag. pomo1 - "Awest may have been a Deadhead, but that doesn't mean he is not a jerk."....... Another poser who thinks he is a judge.Oh, don't feel sorry for me. Remember I saw the Dead 500+ times and you have to see the LEFTOVERS. Good luck with that. By the way, the bus stopped in 1995. hey its all good,, I saw my first show in 74 roosevelt stadium,, I had no clue what was going on, 14yrs. old.. by 76 I was ready though..things have changed a lot since than,,I have a good vibe about this tour,, I think the core four is into this,, more like 98(other ones), Im betting they bring there A game to the shows,, new years was as good as anything I have seen since Jerry checked out..100 bucks a pop, is a lot of cash no doubt,, makes doing a "run" of shows almost impossible,, with mortgages, kids, college,, all the other things,, but enjoy what you can,,like we used to say before web posting Its the Dead man if you get it, you love it, if you dont... let it be, Fleetwoood mac just canceled there show up in albany, poor sales ..140 or so a ticket, , we know this tour will most likely sell out,,so the heads speak... but Id still like to see Donna Jean with the boys though..just to watch her twirl when the band gets out there..

As far as insults, is ""AWEST27 SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! " a term of endearment? You might want to practice what you preach, hypocrite. fleaflicker - I not arguing, just presenting facts.

One of the management models I've seen used here before for effectively dealing with bullies was the old tried and true Treat Them Like They're Your Teeth: Ignore them and they'll go away. Everybody remember the episode with the person calling themselves JC? The sooner we stop reacting to the haters the sooner their fun is over. I haven't had much to say recently because I was pretty bummed by what happened to me in the presale, and I really didn't have anything constructive to say. So I just shut up instead of being a drag. The screen snap I posted certainly seemed to be a lightning rod for negativity, and in retrospect, I wish it had been more effective in that role. At least then, those who didn't want to deal with the bad vibes could just ignore the whole thread. Happy to suck up the bad karma if it helps everyone else out. I'm still hoping to have a shot at decent seats in the public sale. If it works out, I'll be happy. If not, I guess I won't get to go. But I do hope that everyone who does go has one hell of a time as they should. And I do hope those seats I missed out on end up in the hands of some kind and deserving people. That would at least make my disappointment worth it. Peace, everybody. Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

I was looking @ E-Bay just to see what tickets people where selling and when I saw the price I nearly fell over..Alot of the people are posting different shows as sold out which I find strange since they didn't even go on sale officially yet to the public..I realize there are no presale seats left for Shoreline but I would be curious to know how many seats have been held for the official sale on 1-23 and what type of seats they are still holding

"Shut the fuck up" was a command. "Hypocrite", on the other hand, was an insult. ********************************** Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone, you will still exist, but you have ceased to live. Samuel Clemens

I was not happy with my presale seats for MSG, so I sent in for mail order tickets.

Back in the 80's I got beat up by some drunken bullies in the parking lot of the meadowlands. They broke a beer bottle on me and kicked me around for being a "stinkin hippy"! I felt so sorry for them. I had just seen 3 amazing shows and was on a musical high like I had never imagined possible. Their limited minds would never allow them to understand how amazing things the hatred they felt would not permit them to get. I honestly never even felt anger towards them. Send out love and that is what you will receive. Peace. Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his sandals. That way when you do judge him, you are a mile away and have his sandals!

Would have definitely gone that route, except that using a credit card is the only way I can float this right now, which they aren't taking for these shows, so...... Hope everyone who did mail order comes up smiling! Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

I don't get all the negativity. The Core 4 have decided to reunite. Is it for the money? NO. Is it for us? Partially. Is it 'cause they found that magic again and want more of it? That's my guess. $100 a seat and people are griping? Go see the withered Don Henley and the mishmosh of musicians he's calling "The Eagles" these days for less than $200 and your seat will be in the bathroom. The Rolling Stones' cheap seats are $190....and don't forget - they don't have all THEIR original members either. $100 is just fine by me. I can't understand the bitching and complaining. If it's too much, don't go. If you'd rather see the pale imitation, aka DSO, for $30 - enjoy 'em! They're great at what they do - a wonderful imitation of the Grateful Dead. To me, it's "Gratefulmania," but I'm glad they're helping keep the music alive so nicely and with such attention to detail. The world needs them! For these 4 guys to patch up their personal differences and see them palling around in those videos - it's simply wonderful. The vibe is great. I'm just gonna steer clear of the negativity being spewn from people who simply just "don't get it." And when I say that, I say it wholeheartedly. You haters may have "gotten it" long ago, but you lost it somewhere along the line. Personally, I believe this could be the last time. I felt the magic in State College. Their listening skills were honed in and the collective brought it - with force. I'm dropping out for 5 shows. I'm a father of 3, full-time employed and only income in my family. There's no way I'm missing some of this magic. Even if they DO another tour, I'm done. This is it for me and I've made my peace with that. Certainly if they come to my backyard - I'll be there....but my touring days end after this tour. I'll be pickin' my acoustic in the parking lots and I'll be a 22 year old all over again....nothin' left for this 40-year old papa left to do but smile, smile, smile... ~ Pappy http://www.theCAUSEjams.com "Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places, if you look at it right." - Robert Hunter

all the haters stay home. If you choose to attend, please check the tude at the gate. I also flipped out at first over the prices and scalpers scooping up most of the good seats, but I'm over it. Is what it is. I'll be happy to jump into a seat closer than mine left empty by an unsold scapler ticket. Just looking to have a good time and hope you all are too.

I have a feeling that what little seats that are left at Shoreline and MSG will get snatched from brokers and scalpers..I am curious to see the listing prices after the 23rd when the demand is higher..I miss the old days when you camped out for tickets and where rewarded for your patience and time..Met some great people over the years standing in those lines
