This is from a post dated March 28, 2012, in the forum titled "Bob Weir and the National light up TRI for Headcount" ...mind, you, this is 2012: "Campfire! As they were going off the air you could hear someone say 'that was best campfire they had ever been to" or something like that. It seemed to me that Bob had enough fun with it that he will resurrect this in the future." Thank you, Byerly, for your astute comment... fast forward to 2017 and your prediction comes true. Who woulda figured. geoitaintovertillit'sovermeister

Some might find it a coincidence that the day Bobby rolled into town (Wednesday, April 12) for his sound test on his new spring tour, the City Council of Dallas voted to decriminalize pot. http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/dallas-city-council-approves-cite-and-re… A coincidence? I think not... Thanks, Mr. Weir, for doing your part. G

i believe i have had brother theo, and yes it is excellent. I prefer IPAs as well, but do like my Belgians and Saisons, too. Craft brewing has finally hit north Texas in a fairly big way, and there are many small brewers putting out various IPA in DFW. Until recently, too often, Texas beer always seems to be a slightly watered down version of whatever style they're brewing. Lately, though, many of the newer guys have figured out how to make an IPA with bite, but not just bitter-to-be-bitter. Community Brewing, Deep Ellum, Peticolas (but they only sell kegs to bars...you can't get it bottled)...these are just a few to try if you can find them. Not slighting the other guys, these are just the ones I can think of immediately. thanks for birthday wishes and "back atcha"

Oh... I always loved Belgian beers. Definitely a different breed of flavor, but they were all so good. For a Strong, the Rochefort 8 is exceptional (https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/207/1696/). The Tripel was always my favorite. Lighter/crisper than some of the others. Peace, -Dave

glad you liked the show, reviews I've read were positive...there will never be another Jerry, so we may as well stop the comparisons... On a different note Matt, ever try Brother Thelonius White Belgian Ale....although I prefer IPA's, this California brew is kick ass in taste as well as ABV, over 9 percent.... Regards to the missus, our birthdays are right around the virtual corner.... be well....

The show was really good. Song selection WAS excellent, execution excellent, some nice jams. as you and Rich suggested, it would be a good, solid show...and it was good to good very good, and some moments really shined. Deep Ellum Blues was a rave-up, especially as the venue was about a mile from the original Deep Ellum section of Dallas. GDTRFB was probably my highlight, my wife really appreciated Easy to Slip. STOM plodded a bit IMO, Althea was uneven but good. The crowd turned Truckin into a sing along and drowned out the band. it was fun bt I can't tell you if was good or not. Bob stepped up to the mike and just ignored the lyric "Dallas!"..it seemed spontaneous. This show seemed to have more "red dirt" west Texas influence in the Blue Mountain songs than what I've sampled on YouTube. "When in Rome...", I guess. There was a new song they played that was more jazz-blues than west Texas..I'll have to figure out which it was...that was my "new" song highlight. I think by the end of the tour they'll stretch it out to a nice jam. I, too, was a little disappointed in the lead guitar work. I've heard Kimock before, and liked him, but last night, something was just not there for me. He was not bad at all...he just was not exceptional. I know it is not fair to hold Garcia, or even Anastasio or Mayer, as the standard when listening to Dead songs, but I do. So that is the context in which I say he was not exceptional. All in all...I've seen Weir as the Bob Weir band way long ago, Ratdog in many of its lineups, and then last night...last night was certainly the most unique, and maybe the most enjoyable of maybe 10 or 12 Bobby-led shows I've been. I would certainly go again. The venue's acoustics are exceptional, too, so that made it that much better.

thanks for the insight. that is about what i expected from what i've read. currently listening to a show from last october...not bad. i, too, have always liked cowboy bob, so, one way or another, this will be a show. weir with dave nelson sounds awesome. i'll see if i can find that anywhere.

Matt I am sure you will see a solid show. Circumstance and work commitments prevented me from attending the Ryman show last October, but liketohike and hubby were there and I am told it was very good. As Dave said, it's the players, the National, while good are not suited for the extended jams, last month Bobby filled in for Dave Nelson and his band on tour in Alaska, he played half Blue Mountain, and half Dead, the Dead and solo stuff was amazing thanks to the backing players....Pete Sears and Barry Sless on pedal steel made the music alive...I don't know who Bobby will have but you will enjoy yourself.... stay well

Good luck you all on the divide and conquer Ebay sale. I intend to wait for a bit longer. Try to relax this whole thing is way more stressful than it used to be. My heart raced every time the seconds ticked down to a sale time. CID presale, TM sale, Dear Jerry Citi bank presale, Dear Jerry 9:30 club presale, Dear Jerry public. That is 5 near cardiac arrests while waiting for bits and bytes to come over the wire and show me success or failure. At least the Mail Order was not a single high stress moment, just a series of days waiting for bad news. So watching an ebay auction come to an end and wondering if my bid was accepted would be too stressful. I do wish you all luck though.

Couldn't have said it better bro....you are spot-on. And to be clear, my expectations are still low on copping any of these eBay auctions. I do know this - I prefer a GDTS TOO commemorative ticket, rather than a TM ticket (I think I can speak for all on that one). I also want a frickin' view of the stage (which I believe every GDTS TOO ticket will have). I also believe, as posted last night on the big board, that when tickets finally get sent out in June and arrive in people's mailbox, that there will be a flurry of ticket sales during that time period. So, I've concluded that yes, there is a price for "peace of mind" by securing a ticket during the next 8-10 weeks, but patience, as always, is a virtue.

I enjoyed the Dead Covers Bracket also. My first choice was "He's Gone" by Alice and her gang. I also liked The Lower Companions "Mississippi Half-Step" and The Play Dead "Black Throated Wind." For the record, I am hoping for a ticket for at least one night - with a view. Ideally a MO ticket. Depending on the cost, I will hopefully then have a ticket to get in the building to miracle to somebody. Welcome SoCalDeadfan! Nightzzzz

Hey now peeps: Yesterday I posted an eBay sale of interest for us. The initial $ 0.99 starting point for these four (4) alleged GA-Field GDTS TOO tix is now a still modest, $ 405. The seller has like tix for all three shows. The auction has two (2) days left. I sent him/her the following e-mail this morning. Trust but verify gang. Let's see if I get a reply. Will advise. Dear lakedrive101, Hi there: I represent a group of folks from dead.net. We are interested in buying all of your tickets for all of the shows. Can you answer the following questions please: - are these, as you state, GDTS TOO mail order tickets? - If GDTS TOO mail order, can you please provide a screen shot of their e-mail to you validating your lottery win with their batch #? I ask you this because your ad mentions the option of a TicketMaster transfer which is simply not-applicable for a GDTS TOO hard ticket. - You indicate these are "GA-Floor" seats. Are these, via the original Soldier Field seat map, the PL4, $99.50 seats? - Are you a deadhead? If not, no need for your reply. If so, please respect the spirt of our community. We'll pay significantly more than face, but we can't produce for you a wheel barrow of money. Thank you for your time and consideration. Dark Star Orchestra just announced shows July 2,3 at the Vic in Chicago. Most of you are probably familiar with them. If not - they (usually) replicate historical Dead shows and they're great. Every once in a while they perform their own original set lists but they're mostly Dead tunes with a few other covers mixed in. John Kadlecik (Furthur) got his start with them. The Vic is an awesome venue. I saw DSO there a couple of months ago and as always they delivered. They did a Chicago show from 1976. Tickets are usually easy to get but with the July invasion they'll be tougher. Tickets haven't gone on-sale yet.

Totem - perfect. I forgot DSO. I'm sure more and more will be popping up, so I'm real glad that you're on it. Also it's Pink Talking Fish :) rrrgrrrr - OCD or none, nothing wrong with writing the name of a band, or spelling a word correctly. I too honor the alphabet. I respect and revere my given and unusual name (Chandra), but Stella sure has a nice ring to it! Thanks family. ps. un-dead but Chicago-weekend related - I will be looking into the possibility of Blues and House music (both very Chicago related). If any of you have a line on either of those, please PM me or otherwise drop me a line! I may only have enough bandwidth to do all of the Dead related things plus probably the Art Institute.

GM SD'ers !!! Hey now, for anyone interested and getting into town the day before the shows, rrrrrgrrrrr and his wife, and my wife and I will be heading to The Kingston Mines (a classic Chicago blues club). Given there will be three wonderful days to Let the Music Fill the Air from Friday to Sunday, Chi-Town is one of the blues meccas in the US so why not take in some or the local color, right? http://www.kingstonmines.com/ Note: AND TO THE RELIEF OF MANY OF YOU....I AM NOT ORGANIZING A FIELD TRIP FOR THIS :-) (but if Totem attends, we may have a 2nd daily event countdown!!) PS - if any of our local Chicago peeps have another or better recommendation, bring it on please.
