here's an article on the transit company's homepage about the extra trains they're putting on for Kenny Chesney on Saturday, which is the first concert there. Probably useful info:

Light Rail will save you some grief to Levi's 'cuz the traffic, but there's no real parking... just street parking.

In town June 27 and 28 vs Rockies. Maybe check out a game in the most beautiful ballpark in Major League Baseball. Both games 1:20 start. About 45min/with traffic hour drive between stadiums.

Thanks for the tip--I just noticed this as well. I think I am going to go to the Sunday game. Depending on when I get to town, I might go Saturday as well.

but for daytime fun, Great America is right down the street from the stadium.

Does anyone know if you can camp out in the Levi's Stadium lot after Sunday's show? Would like to take a camper, but not sure where to stay overnight. Suggestions??

I am possibly driving up from LA/Long Beach on Friday afternoon or Saturday and looking for places to camp close. Also if anyone interested I have room in my truck and will consider a ride for splitting the cost of gas. Ride share just fell through. Anyone looking for a ride from LA area to SC?

I second that request for ideas for (car) camping, close or semi-close, to Levi's. I'm driving in from NM. Any ideas are much appreciated. I'd even pay some local land owner in santa cruz to set up for a couple nights...Thanks!

I just called and they said they are only allowing tailgating 4 hours prior to show with paid parking pass, but no overnight camping will be permitted.

My son and his best friend just graduated high school and for their grad gift they want to road trip up to SC to see the Dead Shows. I found bus fare through Megabus that is not too bad, but willing to discuss rideshare option. Having a hard time finding camping or hostel availability in Santa Clara or nearby...have you had any luck?

I don't know what the hell they are thinking.... but according to a tweet I got back form Levis' themselves they are not opening lots until 3 pm on Saturday. Just imagine the horrible traffic backup. I am pretty furious about it actually. I am paying 60 goddamned dollars a day to park my freakin' car and with the traffic and short amount of time in the lot that is a huge, usurious rate to charge. Chances are once the huge line of people unaware the lots don't open till late starts to back up on to the freeways and streets the CHP will force them to open. But come on. Bad enough to charge people ridiculous money, but for like 3 hours of lot time with the GD family, it's a tragedy. I've posted a bunch of things to Twitter about it.... I seriously doubt, being concert newbies, the Levi's crew has no idea what they were in for. Not a Taylor Swift concert or a Kenny Chesney show. It's idiotic. I don't know that I have ever gone to a stadium Dead show where the stadium didn't have the good sense to open the lots bright and early. Get people in and off the roads, and you'll keep 'em safe and the neighboring areas too. Didn't anyone learn any lessons in the late 80's?

KFOG Radio (104.5 FM in the Bay area, kfog.com) just announced that it'll be rebroadcasting each night's SC show starting 30 minutes after the show ends. For your drive-time listening pleasure... Don't know if it works on the net, but they're on RDIO, so maybe.

I think we all know what kind of traffic clusterfuck they are bringing down on themselves with that late gate time. Utterly ridiculous to pay 60 bucks and not get in a lot until three after driving 600 miles. Or more! It's unbelievable. Didn't anyone from GDP or Shapiro tell them what a stupid idea that was? They're treating it like it's just another concert crowd, when we all know... it is anything but! Camping, I don't even care... But this lot time thing, combined with the asinine parking fee is really pissing me off. I don't know if Levi's or Shapiro are to blame for that crazy shit.

Hey y'all...here's a pretty cool parking tip. There's a Togo's near by, right near the Crossman Light Rail Station. You can park for free there by the Togo's, grab a brew and a sandwich (they have a FULL BAR!!), and then hop the Light Rail in for a 7 minute ride in. The trains will be running after the show as well for about an hour. Here's a coupon for a free sandwich too!!! They're not open on Sunday, but for Saturday, should be perfect.
