I also had tons of trouble getting on to the ticket sale site this morning. when i finally did get on, trying to buy tickets for 4 different locations, i was rejected at checkout. the message was that i had timed out!! huh????? i wasn't the one taking so long!! it was so incredibly frustrating. i ended up getting shut out of msg :( but was successful securing tix for buffalo, nassau coliseum and shoreline. happy 'bout that, but still hoping for msg.by the way, if this was the "presale", does that mean the "regular" ticket sales have yet to happen? if so, when?

I checked at 11:55 am to see if I could pre-load my "account" information with mailing information and my credit card number and, to my surprise, was placed in the "waiting room" because there was already "high demand." I thought the whole process was supposed to kick off at high Noon EST. After waiting for an hour in the "waiting room" I got in. Tried every permutation to get 4 tickets to MSG. No luck, so I bailed around 1:30 frustrated and pissed. To add insult to injury, I got an email from dead.net at 1:46 pm saying the pre-order started. WTF? I'm done with this band. $100/seat for a Jerry-less Dead is not worth this much hassle. What started out a long time ago as a cosmic adventure has turned into a money-grab. Can't say I blame any artist for wanting to make some duckets to provide for retirement/kid's future but there was a point in the not so distant past where the true fans could pay a fair price and get tickets by filling out a 3x5 index card, a money order and an envelope (and the old system kept Dead office people employed). This band has turned into one giant cluster f*ck since Jer checked out. I would rather take the $100, buy 4 DSO tickets and a round of drinks for my friends, hear a great show, and be happy. I'm out. Nice knowing you.

    Pre-sale flop . . .
I am truly disappointed with the way the pre-sale went down. I would have thought that if anyone could have provided a fair ticket-buying experience it would have been the Dead "organization" and their ticket vendor. Turns out they can't; like every other shyster promoter out there, my experience today was actually the worst experience I've EVER HAD in buying pre-sale tickets. I've had much better experiences through Ticketmaster and Live Nation (who knows . . . they're probably both at the root of this debacle anyway) and that ain't sayin' much. Take a gander at how many tickets are being sold by scalpers already! How does that happen?! It happens because the "safeguards" that were in place did nothing but safeguard the STATUS-QUO, thereby allowing every scalper out there to get the lions' share of every good seat available, and freezing out the rest of us! Have The Dead forgot those of us deadheads who have been with them since the beginning?! It sure feels like it. I had an incredibly frustrating time in my attempt to purchase tickets - I just wanted ONE ticket for each of the couple of shows I wanted to attend - and it turned out way too confusing, convoluted, and skewed to make it worth the $115 cost for a seat and a date I really didn't want and to which it took an hour-plus to finally achieve the end result [without being bumped out, frozen out, or otherwise timed-out as I had throughout] before I was able to complete my purchase. My first Dead show was 33 years ago. If today was any indication of how the future of the Dead's ticket distribution will look like, then this May 2009 will be it for me. It's just not worth the aggravation, cost, and disappointment, where the system allows those who are honest fans to get beaten over by scalpers once again. There . . . I got that off my chest. PS:Thanks for so many incredible shows! Disillusioned words like bullets bark as human gods aim for their mark make everything from toy guns that spark to flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark it's easy to see without looking too far not much is really sacred. After days of despair over extortion ticket prices, officially condoned scalping in the guise of "VIP packages", a totally fucked up on line ticket sale process and lack of accurate information, I was explaining the situation at the family dinner table. My wife said "Don't they know the economy is in the toilet"? To which my eleven year old daughter chimed in "Don't they know half the band is dead"? Maybe you had to be there, but sometimes a child can put things in focus. Thirty plus years of shows and I am terribly disillusioned at this moment, but the laugh my daughter gave me took away some of the edge.

I spent an hur trying to get logged in before I finally got in. Then I was put in a holding patern for around 30 minuits before the connection was dropped. I tried to get back in for another 15 minuits before I had to return to Life. Now I log back in and only the show that I can get to is sold out. I guess it's just a sign! It was kind of wierd that all of the good seats are being sold by a ticket scalper! $350 per ticket, give me a break! Personally I would have had to work to get the $95 that they wanted for the other seats. Oh well, I will just have to wait for the video.

hey man you and i are in same spot, i got rejected for MSG mailorder adn i think they put us in this thing as a consolation prize. It is weird to send out notice that we are in adn then not follow up. I'm hesitant to send an email since they say they dont want that. i guess its almost a miracle eh? who knows maybe tomorrow morning something good will come in the old email.

ok I know folks have been careful about not revealing contents of the message sent, and with good reason I can see already. but this needs to be shared.. last thing I wanna see is a riot at the door of the show: The person accompanying them must be the same individual whose name is provided upon entering the ticket giveaway and this person must also provide a valid state-issued PHOTO ID in order to enter. now maybe they will be lax, but I wouldn't bet an expensive last second airline ticket on it.

First, ratdog.org, philzone.net, and dead.net each seem to have their own allotment of tickets. From what I have read, the first venue capacity is about 400, blender at gramercy around 500 and roseland about 3,000. Dead.net has a certain allotment of tickets, the 1000 or so to roseland is not the only tickets. Ratdog.org and phils site also have tickets. There also seems to be some confusion in regard to the emails sent out. According to the email sent by ratdog.org, you do not need to reply or confirm that you accept the tickets. The email is the only thing you have to get your tickets. I read someone say that the email from dead.net needed to be conirmed then you get a second email which is used to get the tickets. The ratdog.org email was only one time. In regard to people trying to get "extras" there is none. The only people that will get in these shows have to have the email and the winner and guest listed are the only people admitted. You can not bring anyone else. This is to avoid people selling tickets, if they let u change the name of the guest u listed than u can theoretically sell the ticket and give the spot to the highest bidder. So, if your name is not listed on an email from dead.net, ratdog.org or phils site, you are not going to get in. It clearly states on the complete rules page at http://www.dead.net/official-rules that only the people listed in the email will be admitted and there will be no exceptions. I suggest that everyone look over the official rules: http://www.dead.net/official-rules

I am in the same boat you two are in. I did the mail in on the first day as soon as the post office opened for MSG and I got my MO mail back to me with an apology. I accepted that. I know the supply was not as big as the demand. When I received the e-mail "The Dead 3/30/09 Roseland Ballroom - you've been selected" I too thought it was a consolation for not having received my mail-in tickets but it turned out to be a sweepstakes. I entered and did not hear back from GDTS. OUCH! I now feel as if they dangled a carrot in my face by the way it was worded and find the only thing I had been selected for was to be entered into their sweepstakes for a chance to go to the show. I guess I was not selected after all.

If you received a congratulatory email from Dead.net with your name on it - that IS your ticket (along with photo ID). There's not a second email that you need to receive. Here's an excerpt from the email... "No tickets will be mailed out. You must print out THIS email and provide it for entrance to the event. Once at the venue all concert goers will be required to provide photo identification along with a copy of the email voucher which will be checked against our record of your confirmation." It also says... "Each ORIGINAL winner must provide THIS physical confirmation email, and a valid state-issued PHOTO ID in order to gain entrance to the show. The person accompanying them must be the same individual whose name is provided upon entering the ticket giveaway and this person must also provide a valid state-issued PHOTO ID in order to enter." Hope that helps.

I got that first email too. I'm assuming without any concrete email with my name on it, I'm shit out of luck. It makes me feel like any cool element of this whole scene is finally done. Been seeing shows since 1980 and have never felt this animosity towards GD Tickets. People have real life concerns to take care of day to day. You'd think they'd get their act on the same page as the rest of us.

thats a bummer. strange way to word the email if its only a "chance to win" I just reread the email and it does say Notification. Winners will be notified by electronic mail within twenty-four (24) hours prior to the shows. This electronic mail message is sometimes referred to herein as the "E-Mail Prize Notification". Winners will not receive any further confirmation from Sponsor that they have been selected as a Prize winner other than the E-Mail Prize Notification. If you do not receive an E-Mail Prize Notification, then you were not selected as a Prize winner. so perhaps notifications have not been sentyet? or am i really reaching at this point. LOL

sange post above did shed some light on the subject that there were more than just the dead.net drawing, from what I can tell ratdog.org and phillesh.net followed the same method as dead.net, you get a winning email notification and that is your ticket.. all are clear on the guest policy, not gonna be able to give it to someone else. it is the GDTS one that is fubar'd, looks like they did things differently and have left this mass confusion in their wake.. inspite of the request not to call or email I think it is justified, they need to clarify!

At least they could send out an e-mail saying "Sorry you were not selected" so we could have closure on this issue. I hate being strung along. First with not knowing for weeks with the mail-in until I got my money order back and now this. I have been glued to my computer for two days now.

It seems the majority of people, like myself, who got the weird reply asking for more information needed, did in fact get this from Dead.net. My email clearly states "Hello, congrats, etc...". But then goes on to clearly state that a follow up email will come and that email will serve as the ticket. I never got that follow up email and the one email I did get doesn't have my name on it. So, what do I do? Go to the Roseland Ballroom with an email printed out with just my email address on it? Again, what a drag.

pretty clear the e-mail confirmation is all you get, I got mine from ratdog.org, they are even more confusing. They say you AND your guest must be present to get in, the official rules only talk about the winner, obviously you can't sub one guest for another, but the question is does a winner who's guest doesn't make it still get in. I think they do

This is the email I got. The top portion clearly does not sound like a sweepstakes entry. I took it that I had won. I figured the bottom portion of the email related to the initial entry into the sweepstakes from 6-9pm on Friday. When I get an email stating "You will be sent an email confirmation voucher that you must print and provide for entrance to the event", I take it to mean "You will be sent an email confirmation voucher that you must print and provide for entrance to the event".

Further evidence that the latter part of the email related to the sweepstake entry on Friday from 6-9 is because this is what the entry form asked for, which is in the fine print of your email: Entrant's First Name Entrant's Last Name Entrant's Email address First Name of Entrant's Guest Last Name of Entrant's Guest

I am a winner for Roseland and I did not see any place on my entry form to enter in the name of a guest. My winning email clearly states that "I have been selected to receive (2) tickets" but I do then also see on the email that it says, "The person accompanying them must be the same individual whose name is provided upon entering the ticket giveaway and this person must also provide a valid state-issued PHOTO ID in order to enter." And, my winning email has my name as BOTH the Winner and the Guest! Myself (Winner) and my guest are driving from very far tomorrow for the show, so we hope to get some clarity on this here in the next 12 hours before we hit the road! Boy this is confusing!!! I am praying that this is like how they did it when Phish played at the Filmore and you simply need to show up at the door with your guest (whoever it is) and if your name is on the list (as the winner) for 2 tickets it gets you both in. If someone from Dead.net gets this with any affirmation or clarity on this you can email me a response directly at antonio@dailypassion.com See you on the dance floor! (^_^)

Got it at 12:02AM. Subject says "Roseland Confirmation". Body of email is sparse. Venue instructions, time and location of show, and my name in bold print. Has a link at the bottom for Dead.net complete contest rules.BTW, I sent GDTSTOO a rather direct email about an hour ago telling them what I thought about the whole shebang.

Oh yeah! Forgot to put out here another request for information regarding the taping policy for Roseland. I am hoping there will be tapers allowed!!! See you there! Antonio (^_^)

Congrats! Hope to see you there! One other thing that occurred to me. The band didn't have to give ANY free shows. Given that the combined capacity of these three venues is less than 1/6 of MSG I am truly thanking my (for once) lucky stars that I'm in. Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

You are lucky... When you think of the odds and the amount of people who paid BIG to see them on this tour. It's gonna be some party....Have a good time!

Not to take anything away from your good fortune......but When I see your last message I have to question the winners will be "Selected at random" statement in their "Official Rules"

With my "Ratdog.org " concert at Roseland confermation letter it states that I have to have my guest along ,well she cannot get off work, can anyone out there tell me if the guest MUST be present or can the winner (s) go alone ? I have a 1250 mile trip for this and really don't want to get burned just because my date can't go . Any Help ?

I hear you loud and clear. I sent an email to them at 11:00PM. I wasn't rude, mind you. I just kind of spelled out the situation. Who knows if they even read those emails. I assumed it went on deaf ears and it was really just for my piece of mind. I can only hope that maybe they really are dragging their ass getting the confirm emails back to folks and each and every one of us who can, will be there tonight checking this out.

You can call me a wa-mbulance if you so desire. I think it cruel to make fans wait for a respose all this time. "If you plant Ice your gonna harvest wind" I hope your right. Have a safe trip~
