It's been pointed out that for some strange reason we have no thread for the JGB. Yikes! Now we do. Talk about old and current versions of the band here.

Palmer- In the GD Hour this week there is a excellent Garcia/Grisman Russian Lullaby, you can use the time bar as a fast forward: it's at 40:50 Ditto to the Garcia/Grisman tapes. They, too, were great together. To chime the JGB bells, I miss those shows so much. It was like boarding a love vessel whose journey and destination was the soul: to tend it, heal it, mend it, teach it, console it, rock it in its need to be pure energy! TO this day, I must listen to the JGB as its perfection...in a ecstasy soulful kind of array. The beauty of the JGB still lives and is so beautiful, xo. Go see them if you can.

I have been listening a lot to the "Let it Rock" album lately. I got it when it came out but have neglected it until now. What a great band! Jerry and Nicky sound great together. Sadly, it now seems out of print. I hope the new GarciaLive series revisits Garcia/Hopkins. They are really worthy of a box set. Also, a "Reconstruction" release is overdue. FInally, what the heck is going on with the Garcia/Grisman releases? I guess most of Grisman's studio recordings are out, but what about live recordings? Nothing since the Grateful Dawg soundtrack- was it really 12 years ago? Surely, there were live recordings made. I thought Grisman, especially, would have documented many of those shows. All the live Garcia/Grisman I've heard is pure gold. Please get some of this stuff released!

finishing up listening to the new album it seems to get better with every track and the last is certainly my fave but that's listening on the Amazon cloud and thru a very modest desk speaker system (at work) - hopefully the CD will be on my doorstep when I get home can't beat the price tho

Was always my favorite. But whatever came down the pike was always just all right with me. After hearing that 25 minute version of Shining Star on You Tube from 93 (93 for God's sake!) you just couldn't ever know what Jerry was capable of.

Thanks sherbear! I'm inspired now to pick up GarciaLive 1&2. And one more shout out for the recent Garcia/Saunders Keystone Companions Box set. I was hesitant to buy it since I had most of it already, but really it's worth every penny. just a superb box in every aspect.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gwb005_5EA The Jerry Garcia Band Songwriters: JOHNSON, CHARLES B. I wanna say to my sisters and my brothers Keep the faith When the storm flies and the wind blows Go on at a steady pace When the battle is fought, and the victory's won We can all shout together, we have overcome We'll talk to the Father and the Son When we make it to the promised land If we walk together, little children We don't ever have to worry Through this world of trouble We gotta love one another Let us take our fellow man by the hand Try to help him to understand We can all be together, forever and ever When we make it to the promised land Our bible reads Thou shall not be afraid Of the terror by night Nor the arrow that flies by day Nor for the pestilence That waiteth in the darkness Nor for the destruction That waiteth in the noon-day hour If we walk together, little children We don't ever have to worry Through this world of trouble We gotta love one another Let us take our fellow man by the hand Try to help him to understand We can all be together, forever and ever When we make it to the promised land This world is not our home We're only passing through Our trail is all made up Way beyond the blue Let us do the very best that we can While we're travelin' through this land We can all be together, shakin' a hand When we make it to the promised land If we walk together, little children We don't ever have to worry Through this world of trouble We gotta love one another Let us take our fellow man by the hand Try to help him to understand We can all be together, forever and ever When we make it to the promised land When we make it to the promised land Make it to the promised land (Sisters) Make it to the promised land (Little children) Make it to the promised land Make it to the promised land (Children) Make it to the promised land We can all be together, forever and ever When we make it to the promised land Walk together, little children We won't ever have to worry Through this world of trouble We gotta love one another Let us take our fellow man by the hand ~Try to help him to understand~ We can all be together, forever and ever When we make it to the promised land We can all be together, forever and ever When we make it to the promised land

For those of you out there into purchasing digital music, Amazon is having an Americana sale in their MP3 department. While no Grateful Dead or Jerry Garcia Band albums are up for sale (don't ask me why), "Jerry Garcia And David Grisman" is: http://www.amazon.com/Jerry-Garcia-And-David-Grisman/dp/B000S5ACUK/ref=…. And for only $5.99, no less! Not a bad deal if you don't already have the album. Act fast, though; the sale ends on the 7th.

Anyone know the status of this series? The releases were coming fast and furious, but it seems like it's been a while since Vol. 5 dropped.

I have just been starting with the Garcia Live series. It's my first real exposure to JGB. I heard "Dear Prudence" on XM radio and was enthralled by the wonderful way Jerry interpreted that great song. Got volume 1 and 2. I haven't had a lot of repeat listens yet with Vol. 2 but I LOVE me some Vol. 1. Much as I love GD, at the core for me it was always about Jerry (big realization right). Why it took me so long to try JGB on for size, I have no earthly idea. Thanks Jerry!
