People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing,Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin, When I say that I'm o.k. they look at me kind of strange, Surely your not happy now you no longer play the game, People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away, Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me, When I tell that I'm doing Fine watching shadows on the wall, Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball? I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round, I really love to watch them roll, No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go, People asking questions lost in confusion, Well I tell them there's no problem, Only solutions, Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind, I tell them there's no hurry... I'm just sitting here doing time, I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round, I really love to watch them roll, No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go.

He turned thirty-five last Sunday In his hair he found some gray But he still ain't changed his lifestyle He likes it better the old way So he grows a little garden in the back yard by the fence He's consuming what he's growing nowadays in self defense He get's out there in the twilight zone Sometimes when it just don't make no sense He gets off on country music Cause disco left him cold He's got young friends into new wave But he's just too friggin' old And he dreams at night of Woodstock and the day John Lennon died How the music made him happy and the silence made him cry Yeah he thinks of John sometimes And he has to wonder why [Chorus:] He's an old hippie and he don't know what to do Should he hang on to the old Should he grab on to the new He's an old hippie...his new life is just a bust He ain't trying to change nobody He's just trying real hard to adjust He was sure back in the sixties that everyone was hip Then they sent him off to Vietnam on his senior trip And they forced him to become a man while he was still a boy And in each wave of tragedy he waited for the joy Now this world may change around him But he just can't change no more [Chorus] Well, he stays away a lot now from the parties and the clubs And he's thinking while he's joggin' 'round Sure is glad he quit the hard drugs Cause him and his kind get more endangered everyday And pretty soon the species will just up and fade away Like the smoke from that torpedo...just up and fade away [Chorus]

This one is for the bus.....and its inhabitants...... I remember to this day The bright red Georgia clay And how it stuck to the tires After the summer rain Will power made that old car go A woman's mind told me that so Oh how I wish We were back on the road again Me and you and a dog named boo Travellin' and livin' off the land Me and you and a dog named boo How I love being a free man I can still recall The wheat fields of St. Paul And the morning we got caught Robbing from an old hen Old McDonald he made us work But then he paid us for what it was worth Another tank of gas And back on the road again I'll never forget the day We motored stately into big L.A. The lights of the city put settlin' Down in my brain Though it's only been a month or so That old car's buggin' us to go We've gotta get away and get back on The road again

I'm just really bored at work since the doctor I work for has been out of town. I was just scrolling through friends' posts and thought I might try to correct someone's falsehood...big mistake. They enjoy telling lies. Next up, unrelated song Theres a port on a western bay And it serves a hundred ships a day Lonely sailors pass the time a way And talk about their homes Theres a girl in this harbor town And she works laying whiskey down They say Brandy, fetch another round She serves them whisky and wine The sailors say... Chorus: Brandy, you're a fine girl < you're a fine girl > What a good wife you would be Your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea Brandy wears a braided chain Made of finest silver from the north of spain A locket that bears the name of the man that Brandy loves He came on a summers day - bearing gifts - from far away But he made it clear he couldnt stay The harbor was his home - Chorus - Bridge: Brandy used to watch his eyes As he told his sailor stories She could feel the ocean fall and rise She saw its raging glory But he had always told the truth Lord he was an honest man And Brandy does her best to understand At night when the bars close down Brandy walks through a slient town And loves a man who's not around She still can hear him say She hears him say...

Facebook? Really? C'mon kid.....it's a piranha fest.....like virtual Shark week..... try this....if it doesn't pacify then I don't know...... Take me home, Sarge..... When we came to the station all the trains were rusty The doors were open and the windows broken in There was grass in all the cracks and the air hung musty The travel posters were flapping in the wind So we moved through the dust and gloom Playing waiting games in the waiting-room Lay our sleeping-bags out on the floor And on Sunday morning easy rider comes to me with apple cider Leaves me here without a place to go If I followed the coast road, I'd be home by evening The harbour lights still cut across the bay From the slot machine arcade the lights go streaming To the bikes outside the rock 'n' roll cafe Ah but you know those small town blues Are really too much to lose There's nothing really there to go back for And on Sunday morning easy rider comes to me with apple cider Leaves me here without a place to go Any railway station would be just fine, fine, fine To settle down and wash the cobwebs from your head Oh, if your situation's running dry, dry, dry Find a waiting-room beneath the stars to make your bed' Cause you know London can make your brain stall The streets get cold and empty on a rainy night So you duck into the subway station, you can hear the trains call They want to take you to the Earl's Court Road, but it don't seem right Cause it's na, na, na noowah On the juke-box, singing in the burger bar See the people's faces in the passing cars don't want to know And on Sunday morning easy rider comes to me with apple cider Leaves me here without a place to go You have the most appealing surface I have seen Bring it over here, lay it down by me Don't mean to make you nervous, I just mean To make you see, this is the place to be When we came to the station all the trains were rusty The air was empty and the platforms overgrown There were old tin cans and cats and the doors were crusted With mud and leaves and names carved long ago And the rails go on for ever in a silver trail to the setting sun You can follow them anywhere you want to go And on Sunday morning easy rider comes to me with apple cider Leaves me here without a need to know

And of you don't mind, We'll break a bottle of wine. Stick around and maybe we'll put one down, Because I wanna find what lies behind those eyes. Midnight blue burning gold. A yellow moon is growing cold. I rise, looking through my morning eyes, Surprised to find you by my side. Rack my brain to try to remember your name To find the words to tell you goodbye. hehehe...band is Def Leppard off the Hysteria album. Listened to them a lot in my hometown growing up. First dance in Junior high was to them. Saw them in 2006 or so in STL with Styx, they still got it! As for the Floyd, well what can I say. I remember watching the video to learning to fly when I was about 5 and I was hooked. My first CD was Floyd, I asked my grandma to get me one for xmas and she bought me "a collection of great dance songs" I have the complete boxed set, etc. I love old Floyd and all those you mentioned. Astronomy Domine is unmatched. I like Floyd post Waters too like the Division Bell but nothing was the same after Syd. (Shine on you crazy diamond) The local rock stations play Money so much it almost stings my ears at this point. Which is a shame because the message is on point. Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young In a world of magnets and miracles Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary The ringing of the division bell had begun Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway Do they still meet there by the Cut There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps Running before time took our dreams away Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground To a life consumed by slow decay The grass was greener The light was brighter With friends surrounded The nights of wonder Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again Dragged by the force of some inner tide At a higher altitude with flag unfurled We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world Encumbered forever by desire and ambition There's a hunger still unsatisfied Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon Though down this road we've been so many times The grass was greener The light was brighter The taste was sweeter The nights of wonder With friends surrounded The dawn mist glowing The water flowing The endless river Forever and ever

Saratoga is on pre-sale now as well. Go to Dead & Co page, click on tickets for Saratoga, click on citi card pre-sale , you need a code, the first 6 digits on a citi card, then you can buy up to 4 tix. I just got two for $99.00 for orchestra. They have higher priced packages that require no code of any kind. Alpine on sale now with citi card or packages

We were planning on road tripping Atlanta to the 3 in FL, New Orleans and Albuquerque based on that bogus tour date list that floated around last month. Had hotels booked along the whole route. I was kinda bummed with the actual tour announcement. It's like they don't want a bunch of aging hippies following them around in dilapidated dusses. Well we have overcome the disappointment and will just road trip it from LA to Boulder! Looking forward to seeing you all there. ☮ my brothers and sisters, gob

Yeah, that list had a lot of us scrambling in many directions for sure. Spent about an hour today canceling hotel and plane reservations for Miami, Tampa, New Orleans and Albuquerque. . . Oh well, we'll all just have to treat this as a virtual group road trip. Those who manage to get to shows just need to be sure to provide visuals and commentary for the rest of us. Maybe Tami'll make a scrapbook for us!?. Hey GeogottheSunshineDaydreamerwebsitelastyearmeister be sure to let me know when our website's 1st year's up so I can renew it this time. . . It's that time of the year, I've been itching for a Spring Tour, but it is not to be. Thirty three years ago tonight the boys closed out their run at the Knick, played their last Casey Jones there on 3/27. Thirty six years ago Branford sat in at Nassau, and oh what an Eyes that was. (Apologies to David Byrne). I can't help but relive those moments in my head. Like it was yesterday. The Daydreamers bus has fewer riders these days, especially since the hype of FTW is firmly planted in the rear view and slowly fading out of sight. But the road goes on forever. I'll give credit to Brother Gregg for that gem. It's kinda cool that kind folks at dead.net continue to acknowledge and affirm our journey. We even made that last newsletter. Who'd a thunk it? So what say we put away our dynguses and pussy willows for another year and raise a glass to Jerry and the boys. Here's hoping for many more years of health, magic, fun and friendship. If you get the inkling, feel free to take the wheel and you know the company on ba dus is always cool and the coffee is always hot. Hey Sarge, I got one more silver dollar, so head over to that jukebox. “You know what I want to hear. … You played it for her, you can play it for me!” “…Well, I don’t think I can remember…” “If she can stand it, I can! Play it!” (Sarge plays ‘As Time Goes By.’) Here's looking at you, kid. Ahhhhh, you know, this is a damn fine cup of coffee! :-)

Well said, rrrrgrrrr! The last year really shot by, but what a year it was! Certainly July was the highlight but the run up to the shows was a unique and enlightening experience that displays the power of a common spirit that comes from unlikely events and unexpected sources. Just the other day I was talking to my brother about Cichlids--a convo that may have never happened without the influence of Greg. How many times have I started a sentence with "last summer in Chicago" or exclaimed "you should have seen this rainbow that appeared out of nowhere"? Hopefully, there will be some reconnection this summer on tour with D & Co. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to meet all of you and look forward to turning Too next year!

I’ve also got the fever with plans for Noblesville, Alpine x2, and Warren’s Jerry tribute in suburban Chicago (plus a couple of Phish shows at Wrigley). It’s unrealistic to expect FTW-level anticipation and I wouldn’t mind some Spring shows to fill the gap but there’s a lot of great music coming our way. The sun is shining and da bus rolls on.

So I take a break and who should appear out of thin air but a friend of the devil and the chick with the sticks. What's this bus coming to anyway? Welcome back 88 and Miami, long time no see. It seems like the tin foil cloak of invisibility and Feel the Bern stickers didn't fool either of you. It's good to see that OatJeff, ASL, Geeky, Boo Boo, Loblaw, TFonts and mkav have found their way home as well. You all know the drill, sit back, relax, pour yourself a cup of coffee and smile, smile, smile. I see the state line is just a mile ahead. Where are we anyway Sarge? The State of Confusion? Makes sense. Remember, if you get confused, listen to the music play. Turn that one up, please. Happy April Fools Day! She's a Black Magic Woman trying to make a devil outta me....

Good to see the wordsmiths, poets and ne'er-do-well Daydreamers are on their best behavior, and I mean that in a most positive way, especially you over there tuning the accordion. The plays on words by you rhyming Simons and Simonettes reminds me of that epic show in '78 when all were smiling and carrying on. It is obvious that no-one is any the worse for wear over the winter season, and all seem to be ready to tear it up. Word is that puppers can't contain his excitement, and guess what? The feeling is mutual... and who woulda thunk it.

You know darn well that we requested a special rendition of Mollie B at her finest. For all you who really really miss the accordion, and we know you are out there, it is time to share a secret passion shared by more than a few daydreamers. Yes, we are speaking of the polka, as our esteemed dus briver alluded to in his earlier post, first below written. Now, for your edification and enjoyment,I'd like to introduce a new performer to many, "Mollie B". Mollie Busta, popular performer from the Jim Busta Band and Squeezebox, is host of the weekly RFD-TV Polka show, the "Mollie B Polka Party". The one-hour program featuring the nation's top polka bands... produced on location at music festivals from around the country. Lest you think you've missed the doat, or dus as it may be, there is a four day show right here in the heart of Texas, in the hamlet of Ennis (right down the road from my abode) at the end of the month. Guaranteed to entertain even the most jaded, tickets are available for the four-day run..at a bargain price of 20 bucks per person, per day, reduced for the rugrats to 5 bucks a head. Camping is available at a nearby Walmart lot. Get your tickets early, before they sell out, at http://store.rfdtv.com/product-p/10001.htm. All the Daydreamers worth their salt should head this way, and get ready for a party. When it comes to talent, you can't beat good ol RFD...and Polka. Thanks to one and all for your anticipated participation....we'll leave the light on for ya....no fooling!

This time last year we were all freakin' out on quests for tickets. There was only one venue (Santa Clara wouldn't be announced until April 10). We were scrambling and trying to help each other. Things more or less worked out, although I wish I'd made an effort to go to the Levis Stadium shows. Now, for the most part, we've calmly decided whether we're going to any of the Dead & CO shows this summer (I don't think any/most have sold out yet, so there's still time). Our perseverance has allowed us to tame this roller-coaster of a bus and enjoy the ride and smell the roses along the way this go-round . . . But I still have work to do – I still get real names, avatars and nicknames all mixed up (except for GeoFillInTheBlankMeister, of course.)
