My favorite summer festival is GratefulFest! I've been to, I think, 4 of the last 5. or something like that. It got a little big last year and I was a little worried about crowd size for the infrastructure and all, but it worked out. I'm working my ass off now to be able to take the time off of my (day) job to get back out there this summer. A few years ago now, I was at more loose ends for the summer and got to see GratefulFest, Great Blue Heron and BlueGrass. I had tickets for Grassroots, but an unfortunate event with a State Trooper kept me home for that weekend.

Since last year, for the first time , the Rex Foundation has been supported by a few festivals and in turn , we attend the festivals to connect with the GD community. Specifically, these festivals from last year, and this year, in no particular order, Grateful Fest, A Bear's Picnic, 10K Lakes and Gathering of Vibes with great enthusiasm and generosity and heartfelt warmth of welcoming us to their festivals to support Rex . This year we are very happy to say the All Good Festival has been added to this roster of festivals that are deadicated to the support of Rex both monetarily and spiritually. These are wonderful people who create these festivals and we wholeheartedly encourage people to go to these great events.

I am going to the Gathering of the Vibes this year. It sounds like a great time! Bobby and the drummers in the same place sounds like the best place for a potential reunion set to me! Midnight on a carousel ride, reaching for that gold ring down inside. Never could reach it. It just slips away. BUT I TRY!

Milwaukee does the festival a little differently. Summerfest goes on for 10 days, but admission is separate each day (though lots of promotions make everything but the parking reasonable). There are a number of stages, so there is always something happening somewhere. Mr. Weir is on the schedule this year, but it's all kinds of music - truly something for everyone. You may not find your kind of music every day, but you'd be hard pressed not to find a few worthwhile days in the 10. I'm pretty sure it is now the largest music festival in America - but that could be local hype.

OK everyone...I'm totally out of the loop, but I swear, I'm good people, you can ask around! Can someone tell me if anything is happening in the Pacific Northwest this year? Due to my total dedication to my family and my lack of time to take off work, I can't go very far, so all them Midwest and East Coast things are too far for me. However, if you go to one of the festivals previously mentioned, come back here and write up a little story so I can live it vicariously, dig? Awww, come on...please? Much love to all you heads!

The Telluride Bluegrass Fest has been a favorite for years. Unfortunately, with a growing family, haven't been able to catch it the last 5 years. The Folks Fest in Lyons, CO is an annual event we do as well, though. So much great music- in the Dead vein- comes through Denver that I'm pretty satisfied year-round with the good tunes.

for me there's burning man and then there's everything else. the gathering of the vibes is one of my favorite music festivals. i've been going since the first year. the vibes staff has always supported our psychedelic art gallery and leda and aly, the vendor coordinators, are the best allies to have in any festival situation. like many, i'm psyched to see them return to bridgeport and look forward to seeing my vibe tribe out there. other shows? oh, i do a bunch of them. some are great, some are not. i've heard great things about gratefulfest but never been. horning's hideout for cheese's final run there? ought to be as epic as cheese shows get. i may make it, hard to say just yet... the burn is the only annual event that i do everything i can to never miss. everything else seems to pale by comparison. _______________________________________________ groovin' the light fantastic at http://www.popeshady.com and http://people.tribe.net/shadygrove

Desert Rocks, Moab, UT Memorial Weekend This is a smaller festy, perhaps about 1500 people. The atmosphere is just amazing. It's in the middle of the beautiful red rock desert of southern Utah with primitive camping on site. The music was a mix of local acts including 10-17 year olds in the School of Rock. They blew me away with their talent. Eric Mcfadden Trio, Blue Turtle Seduction, Delta Nove, The Dukes of Ted, Wisebird, Stonefed, Dead Horse Minstrel, Al Howard & the K23 Orchestra, Kan'nal, Puddle Mountain Ramblers, Fire Dancers, Belly Dancers, and much more. The size made it nice and personal, plenty of space to stretch ones self, physically and mentally. Check it out next year if you're in the area!

A dead tribute band by the name of The Schwag hosts 5-6 of these stocks a year.....on 330 acres of private property, beautiful campgounds, including sinking creek...I could go on & on!Seems everyone on here is from the west, Im from the deep south! LOL! AR baby!
