(if not, just tell me, I am new here), but Frankly, I want to share my thoughts about your last two posts to this forum. To me it is no wonder that you have received some frankly PMs, regarding your reaction to the story, I shared above (and decided to send, after reading yours about something that happened the day Jerry passed). I guess none of the people, who sent you a PM, was able to understand what made you react like that. Now you justify your reaction by mentioning the tcheque long tradition of cynical jokes. But as there is nothing at all in my liitle story, that could make somebody become cynical, not even just a little bit, your explanation is of no value to me. If you don't know how to behave yourself in an online forum and probably don't care about respect, you better might stay inside the Tzech boundaries. Otherwise you might run into members of some society on this planet, where they have a long tradition in (worst case scenario for you, frankly) simply killing adults, who get cynical in public for no reason at all. So it might be healthy to consider breaking up with that Tcheque tradition. Another suggestion, I want to make, is that you keep Jerry or whomevers quotes for yourself, instead of using them to justify your misbehaviour. And yes, I expect that you probably have the opinion to know better. But see, I know good. And I have no problem not to get cynical, although you gave me more than one reason, to do so frankly. andré p.s. : PMs from your account will be blocked from now on.

after having recieved several serious death threats ,insults etc...i feel the need to explain that we tcheque people have a long tradition of cynikal jokes.this starts with the jews(prague was one of the centers of the medieavel jewish community),continus with the brave soldier shvejk and goes on with egon erwin kisch,up to the hidden mokery over the communist system.may i recall that on the day jerry left us Howard stern played the dead alllday mixed with pretty weird jokes.SO WHAT?As Jerry said"Fuck em if they cant take a joke"! seriously yours Frankly

While I may not live in SF, I would hardly characterize them as "zombies, living dead"...They are people too. They may walk in one direction, but that is often downhill... or across the bridge. "deadheads" may in-fact resemble the modern day " Resident Evil Zombie", to all media purposes. But we are alive, and kicking. Haight-Ashbury has changed. Let us put ourselves behind the brilliant music, and use it to fund-raise for a social cause. its up to us. Paul, Lost Finger project

after having read this it came to my mind that maybe somebody drugged your friends and after they woke up and stumbled out on the street, they found themself in a bunch of zombies(also known as the living dead and recognisable by their habit of walking in big numbers into one direction).but because they where lucky as hell and staying in sf,your friends were not eaten alive but lead to a GD concert.........! aufwiederlesen yours Frankly

After I found out about those amazing download possibilities and had started to be able to handle dem files and stuff, I called a musician friend of mine, to tell him about it. After I mentioned that I have started downloading GD music, he told me that, while on vacation with his wife in SF and walking through town one day, the streets started to fill with people people people, all walking the same direction. The two walked with them, ending up at the concert the GD and other folks played, because Jerry had passed .... phew andré

Hi everybody!i am living in the czech republic and i want to say that even if there never was an opportunity to see the Boys playing live over here there are amazingly many deadheads over here.and the more we missed the concerts the more we cherished tapes, vynils etc. With the uprising of the cd we could start to listen to high quality live recordings that, beside the regular albums, were never or very rarely available.but i want to tell you about a very sad day in 95 we all remember.sitting in a bar in the center of prague thunder and lightning hit me as i opened the paper and read the news..but to my surprise many people who knew about my interest into the DEAD came up to me to show their support and understanding over that trgic loss!Even more,as the evening went by,a taxi-driver(which are the greediest human beings in town)offered to play a tape ihad with me on his giant car-stereo in front of the bar!!!the tape i had was the Boys at red rocks and it was played again and again until 3 o clock in the morning with dozens of people hanging out, dancing and having a great time.It was pure magic in the center of town...even a russian mafioso, who has been to the states for a while hugged me with tear in his eyes and we had a J together looking at the moon and listening to Jerry playing FRANKLINS TOWER!!Yeah even prague said good bye to Jerry in a way that suited this man.P.S.As this was happening in the center of town, neighbors must have called the cops more than once(the stereo in the car was just BIG)but the guy had a remote control and everytime the cops drove by,he simply paused the music just to start it again when they were gone...and the name of the bar was The Singers Place!!!

Given my own lack of innate musical talent, or sufficient discipline to acquire playing skills, I always admire - but don't often listen very long to - amateur cover bands. However, DHSerbia, having just completed your entire 6/12/16 set on utube, I'm tremendously impressed. Your collective musicianship, communication, and emotional conncetion with the music warrant a greater, or louder, audience than the 4 people who audibly applauded. In particular, let me say that I kept waiting for familiar instrumental landmarks to "Cocaine", but got none. That intro is fantastic, but led me to believe that the setlist described below the video must be incorrect. Still, when the vocalist sang the all-too-familiar, "If you want go out...", I realized the band was putting it's own imprimatur on the classic by infusing it with a slower, bluesier feel across a broader instrumental palette. Well done! Were you stateside and local, I'd be a groupie. Perhaps when back in Holland later this year I can plan a trip to the (other) BBC!/peace, Katherine

Deadnik , there are some heads here in Austria , you will meet some at local summer festivals called " Lovely Days " in Eisenstadt and " ClamRock " at Brurg Clam. You will see some at concerts of Gov`t Mule , Warren Haynes ( as he is the only Dead related musician who plays most every year here in Austria ). Another fine scene is the " Arena " in Vienna.Unfortunately there are no Gatherings here ---- Austrian Heads are the one to grow their collections at home and play them to their friends... cheers , Erik

People who love the Grateful Dead in France (Les gens qui aiment Grateful Dead en France)...you don't need to be Deadheads or wear a uniform (pas nécessaire d'être Deadhead ou de porter un uniforme)...Who are you? Where are you? (Qui êtes vous? Ou êtes vous?)..."We are everywhere", maybe, but I sure don't bump into many of you just strolling around (On a beau dire "Nous sommes partout", mais je ne vous croise pas sur mon chemin)...

The atmosphere is hot tonight, boulevard des Italiens in Paris: the Grateful Dead will give its second concert in Paris, as part of its European tour. But if the atmosphere is electric in the streets, it is mainly because dozens of young people demonstrate and fight against the CRS to claim the free rock concerts.

The Olympia Room is a classic music hall, with its rows of tight seats against each other, and the balcony overlooking the stage - and where I'm sitting tonight. Really uncomfortable to dance. But the music, irresistible, seizes the body and, like many others, I spend a good part of the concert to gesticulate, standing, wedged between two chairs.

I dance like crazy on a Good Lovin 'furious. The musicians have no look, there is no stage play, nothing to do except Pig Pen, his hat, his look, his mouth. But after a while I do not listen anymore, I focus my attention on what the musicians do behind him. They weave wefts, they ornament, they open paths and then close them, they are discrete or roar, it seems endless, and the rhythm, always the rhythm that catches the body, makes them vibrate, the music that becomes colors, red sounds, mauve sounds, and it whirls, a real party for the head and the body.

So many songs played beautifully, tonight! From the first title of the concert, Greatest Story Ever Told (very energetic) to Chinatown Suffle, Playing In The Band (played, it seems to me, on a tempo a little slower than usual), Big Railroad Blues (where Jerry launches riffs as rarely) and so many others. Until that Dark Star, which I did not know and which appeared to me in all its magnificence, a waving and swirling sound wave. Never heard!

Graceful acrobats, subtle tightrope walkers, the musicians, fire in the veins, give, this May 4, 1972, a magnificent concert, not resembling anything I had listened to until today. Probably, one of the best concerts of one of the best tours of the Dead. For my part, one of the three biggest concerts I've attended in my life, and the biggest rock concert.

Great review, Alain. This show is definitely one of the best, if not THE best, in the box set that came out a few years ago. I was fractionally too young to catch the band in 1972-but that was the time to see them. One of them..

Hi guys
I'm a belgian deadhead born after jerry died. Me and my girlfriend went to the states for half a year in search of the scene, and in search of the music. We were so surprised to see and feel how alive it was, one of the most beautiful moments of our lives! Saw a lot of shows that took me to that place, met the loveliest people and i'm so grateful to have experienced it. Now we're back in belgium for a while and i have literally never found one single other deadhead in belgium than the 2 of us. It's so weird not being able to talk or dance to, some grateful dead and jerry tunes.. so this way i'm trying to connect with people from belgium or even europe who are deadheads, i never met one in europe anyway, and i wanna play their music, the scene has to come to europe, europe needs it, and i just really miss it :)

much love to all of you beautiful souls
