It's raining pretty good this morning so I decide to go to the bookstore and hang out a little bit. I'm looking through the used-books section and I come across the book "Deadheads" by Linda Kelly. So I start leafing through it and reading some stuff and the very next song that comes on the radio in the bookstore is Uncle John' Band! First time I'd ever heard the Dead come on in there. Ain't no time to hate Barely time to wait

is ironic on sooooooo many levels, its almost funny. I'm fairly certain that John would approve of anything Yoko would do with his estate, whatever the reason - he loved her THAT MUCH. What I can't fathom is; why this material in her control isn't being used to generate or create more art for the sake of art itself? I could care less about the income generated, everyone needs money - but I wonder how she'd react if a person took this piece and made something that challenged the status-quo, for instance (which is what I see when John is talking in the clip), without regard to ANYTHING. Would such an attempt be torn down, by a legion of lawyers? I honestly don't know but I suppose since the ad isn't about money, she and the car manufacturer will be donating the proceeds to a worthy charity. Thanks for the link TL!

http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/sean-lennon-defends-john-lennon-… I haven't seen the ad but according to this web site's interview with Sean, Yoko was just trying to keep John "out there in the world". News to Yoko; you don't need to worry about anyone forgetting John, although I'd like to forget the nonsense that took part when he tried to force you into The Beatles which, along with saying this pandering isn't about money, I'll never understand. At number 76, you name the bar the Garcia Family owned, The Four Hundred Club, at 400 First Street, SF. My Grandmother had the hotel across the street. All the Merchant Seaman Union Halls are in the immediate area (Rincon Hill). I believe Ruth was a native San Franciscan from an Irish family. I never knew the name of their bar. Jerry has some roots at the old waterfront, that's for sure. The beautiful Embarcadero!

On dealing with a person who is angry with them: "We draw a halo around his or her head in our minds. Does this person stop being angry then? We don't know! We know, though, that when we draw a halo around a person, suddenly that person starts to look like an angel to us." John Lennon & Yoko Ono, from: The Cynical Idealist-A Spiritual Biography of John Lennon, by Gary Tillery... good advice!

i was awaiting the arrival of my first unemployed Christmas, and feeling down and lonely and....and....well, you know how it goes, i came to this website, looking for refuge from the storm. i was able to find many caring souls that helped me thru the pain, and they have yet to stop helping me. i want to thank each and every one of you, from the bottom of my heart, for the joy and comfort you have given me. i know i have offended a few of you and for that i am truly sorry, you all know that some of my opinions differ from most deadheads (decidedly!) but love for the music has always brought us back to one another. God Bless you All, and here's hoping for a wondrous, happy, and fruitful New Year, not only for ourselves, but a healing for our country and the rest of this crazy world. rarrarrarrf!!!

...you were a bit suspect Johnman, especially when you jumped on my case like the third time I posted on this site ("religion, spirituality..."), but the gates open wide here and all are welcome! As it should be. As four Our Country and The Rest of This World, well... maybe when we stop dividing it up that way. ~ Talking alot about less and less, forgetting the love we bring ~

i don't think i was jumping so much as questioning, but it was not my intent to offend, and yeah, it's too bad the world is divided as it is. until that changes, i believe that if we all want peace, we need to work for justice......

I, for one, have never suspected anything but good intentions from Johnman. I always liked the story`s of people in the Bobby zone getting spat upon by Bobby. One of the reasons I never sat in the front row at any shows . LOL

so much saliva could be FOUND in one person, gosh, he's like a faucet. think that might be the reason for the moustache?

... Bob used to let loose with the saliva when he sang? Or that he actually spit on people? I'd hate to think it was the latter...

But from what I`ve always heard he just used to let loose while he was singing . now keep in mind I only heard of this actually happening I never had the oportunity to be in the front row . now I have seen a few video`s where he did let some loose but that may be a little normal would`nt it be ? I`m not a singer either . I know some people spit when they talk so it would only make sense that some people would spit when they sing .

Bob was really into it most of the time, putting in 110%, especially on his vocals. If you're trying to "fill the sky withe flame" it stands to reason you're gonna put out a few joints in the front rows (yuk-yuk.)

the torrent of saliva emanating from bob's mouth. he wasn't actually spitting, but wow....i don't know how he could actually sing with the amount of liquid he was producing. the only visual i can think of that compares is sweat pouring off of someone during an extremely strenuous workout, and that still doesn't really compare. we used to get close enough to almost lean on the edge of the stage at the kaiser convention center in oakland and had a clear view of bob, just a few feet away.

I will be rooting for the Oregon Ducks, whose homefield is Autzen Stadium in Eugene, in the Rose Bowl! Now that I've my credit cards all paid off I should go see Furthur on new years eve, then head down to the Rose Bowl and see the Ducks, then head down to Baja and have a margaritta with a senoritta in Rosarita. But it would really suck if Furthur played FOTD, the Ducks lost, and I got mugged in Mexico, I think I'll just stay home. It's been a good year, why push it. I saw more shows this year,3, than I have since the mid-80's, wrote more songs this year than I ever have in my life,(you all inspire me), and had a couple nice road trips where, on one, I saw a ton of new country I've not seen before. Plus, I had my last beer on the 9th of this month, smoked my last bowl on the 24th, and am hoping to have my last cig tomorrow. I hope in the coming year I can get my act together and start playing some gigs. I wish you all a happy and healthy new year. Peace. Let there be songs, to fill the air

I'm looking to raise $800 to replace a speaker that was stolen from the KPFA performance studio. I believe this is a speaker that was originally donated by the Jerry Garcia estate. Regular listeners to Dead to the World have heard many great music broadcasts from that studio, and we have Grandpa Banana and his band coming in this week. KPFA is struggling (as are we all, I know) so it will be hard to find the money to replace this important piece of the studio. That's why I am asking for help here. You can send a check to KPFA, 1929 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Berkeley CA 94704, or Paypal to David@trufun.com with a note stating that it is for KPFA. I know we can make this happen. Thanks to all for reading this. someone found this on David`s facebook page . figure I`ll post it here also. KPFA could use the help as well as any public broadcasting radio or television station.

Is one amazing talent that is for sure. I wonder if many Deadheads really got him when he played with the Dead. He sure has been in some amazing bands, ARU, Jazz Is Dead, Allman Brothers, Phil and Friends, the Dead and WSP. I know that when I saw him play with the Dead in 04 he seemed lower in the mix than Warren which was frustrating. Glad he has found his spot with WSP. Happy Birthday Jimmy.
