beams to you as well. My Callie, now 11 (the spotted one), has been deaf her whole life. Certainly never slowed her down. You might want to check out the Deaf Dogs list on yahoo groups; it's very active and very nice folks. While I'd say the lion's share of the discussions have to do with rescue, adoption and training of deafies-from-birth, people often come along after their hearing dogs have lost their hearing for one reason or another and want some coping strategies. When Callie was young we used to go to local Deaf Dogs picnics, but now that we're all geezers in this house we've lost touch with that scene a bit. Sounds like your girl is coping just fine however!

    Hey Kid...
Sorry to hear about your dog and hope things are on the up swing for you guys. The sooner these problems are caught, the better the outcome. Like marye said, the dog docs are getting better and better at treating our little friends. I also can relate 'cause one of my dogs just received a clean bill of health after a really rough spell in which she had an emergency operation to save her life, a few weeks ago. Unfortunately she has lost her hearing (as a result of the operation) and I've had a tough time (emotionally) accepting that fact. But now that she's getting back to normal, playing and romping around with us again, I'm just grateful she's alive. Like Warren Zevon said (and perhaps I understand better with every experience that brushes death's doorstep), "Enjoy every sandwich"... with your dog ; - )

It's true, it's amazing how much veterinary science has progressed. Good for you for catching it early, healing beams to your doggie, good face beams to you and your family. What's her name? My Rex and Callie send their good doggie vibes also.

...all those in the drumming circle at the University of New Hampshire and especially the woman who got anthrax thought to be shaken loose from the animal hides covering the African drums. Lots of anthrax spores found in the campus ministry building where this intense drumming circle has been going on weekly for over 3 years. This is very strange but it is certainly not terrorism.

peace through musicThe fact that your brother has so many breaks is terrible. There is an herb out there that has been used for centuries. It is comfrey also called bone knit. It works, applied to the break site. The results are faster healing and therefore less time in pain. Sending out healing vibes to Dan. And Love and Peace to all, on the beginning of this new year.

Don't hate you at all, friend! Hang in there and warm vibes for you. People who hate you for being busted for something like paraphenalia-which hurts NOBODY, are not real friends at all. ********************************** By trying we can easily learn to endure adversity -- another man's I mean. Gigi and Mary-Sunshine, my Dad had a stroke in the late '70s and drank comfrey tea to help keep his bones strong. He walked with a cane and someone close by until his last days. This is a good herb. Healing vibes to your brother, Gigi.

first, let me say thank you for all the positive vibes and well wishes. a person's wealth can be measured by the number of people who care for them. latest word i received is that there was a miscommunication between cousins and there was no explosion, however she has an extremely large boil on her elbow and may still lose her arm, so while i'm relieved, i'm still very worried...thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and words.

I just found out that a really good friend of mine, Keven, just got stranded in New York on his way to Florida for Further Tour. I feel kinda responsible because I introduced him to the girl who helped get there, then stranded him. He's a really good kid, true Dead family, and I can't help but worry and wonder if he's alright. No one knows if he has a place to stay or if he's safe, and he left Maine with only the clothes on his back. I just don't know what to do. =/

She's a little treasure. Really! She's not exactly happy about being in the hospital, nor feeling too well, but she's saying things like "It's nice to have so much quiet time to lie here and think about stuff" and "I have such a lovely view out the window here", and last night she sent me home-wouldn't let me sleep there like the 1st night. "Mama, Saskia is taking good care of me, and I'm a big girl" (Saskia is her 1st cousin, who is a pediatric surgeon on the unit where Imena is) I called her this moring, and she sounded tired and quavery in her voice, but STILL didn't complain. I am going to spend the day with her now.********************************** By trying we can easily learn to endure adversity -- another man's I mean. Mark Twain

When I told her how easygoing she was about the whole hospitalization thing, she looked at me as if I were slightly dimwitted and said... "Mama, I don't feel good yes, but when I saw how fit and healthy I am in comparison to others there; it would have been very rude and bad manners of me to make anyone any problem" I treasure this child! ********************************** By trying we can easily learn to endure adversity -- another man's I mean. gives up tugging on your sleeve -- "Suh? Suh?? Please, I am hungry." Strictly speaking, the natives won't even give a coin unless there is some kind of crippling condition rendering the mendicant unfit for work. It seems silly to say "May all in need of a coin or bill for medicine, food, watet, a blanket or a place to sleep always quickly and without pain or disdain quickly obtain what they need."
