    Travis Beam - Wolf

Fivebranch - going off photographs and sound, it seems Jerry started using the Wolf in Fall 1977. I agree - a much hotter sound than that of 1976 and the first half of 1977.

This afternoon was February 3, 1978, Dane County Coliseum in Madison, Wisconsin. Makes me want to jump back into the Friend of the Devils box. Jerry has a more brittle but 'grabbier' tone than '77, which I assume is from trading the Travis Beam out for Wolf? Either way, the dissonance is a little spookier, ghostlike. Works great in the space segments.

Jerry says they'll make Hey Jude up as they go ...

and they do (!) It's OK in spots and Ouch in others - the only blemish on an otherwise Great show.

So IMO, no DaveRock you're not missing much ... Stick with Wilson Pickett and Carry on.

I'm listening/watching the Dodger - Giants spring training game...later today after the game I plan to deep dive into my Charles Mingus collection...

I played this one yesterday. A Rocket to the Moon. I always miss off Hey Jude at the end, though. Maybe I should give it another go - I might be pleasantly surprised. Although it's not a song I like, generally. Apart from the Wilson Pickett version with that blistering solo by Duane Allman.

Lucky to own the Fillmore box so i've managed to spin both 2/27 & 2/28 today, as I have the house to myself. This box is pure magic!!

    Hopefully 3/1/69 and 3/2/69 tomorrow

    Rock on, gang

"RIGHT NOW" I am listening to a conference call drone on about the details of a database upgrade for work. If it ever ends, I do have 6/20/86 (Greek Theatre) queued up to check out. Peace, -Dave
