these days a lot of places test for clarifiers so to speak. test pure is a decent product, pricey, as they all seem to be, but if u follow directions it should work. but like i said, i think tests are not so easy to "study" for. good luck nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile

Well, it has finally happened, I may have to take a drug test for a job I applied for. In all my years, I only took one drug test in my life, and that was in the military back in 75. Back then, they couldn't detect weed in your pee, so I was safe. Now, of course, they can so if anyone knows of a good reliable product that works to mask the cannabis in my urine, I would greatly appreciate any info anyone has on this subject. I have searched the net and came up with lots of products, just don't know if they "really" do what they claim. I have been unemployed for almost a year and I really need to pass this test, and I don't have the necessary 4 weeks to get clean on my own, seeings how the test will be within the next 2 weeks. Please, any info would be great, especially one that really works. Thanks in advance for any help. ;)

is the name of the tune that you are inquiring about. It was in the "endless summer 1994" issue of the late great GD almanac. Would love to see that come back, I did get a copy last year, saying that they were comming back, so we would have something to hold as we read, but I have not received one this year, yet...:) Yes, you are correct, st. dilbert riding a rake, with a rattlesnake wrapped around it, it goes like this: the wind is in the forty and the cane is in the break. Just flew in from cupertino flying on a rake. Got to hose the house down and paint the rattlesnake, pacify the dogs of war and decorate the cake. there are 4 or so more verses with the ending verse sporting the line about sitting on the sidewalk, which it does state that it is illegal in Berkeley. Hope this helps some. I think you can look at these old almanacs on line, at least you use to be able to look up back issues. Check out this site, or maybe serch for GD Almanac? Good luck....

Does anyone remember a Hunter song that was published with an accompanying illustration in the GD Almanac in the mid/early 90s but not performed by the Dead? (Probably around '93-'95.) It included a line that went something like "Just flew in from Cupertino, flying on a rake, time to (something) and paint the rattlesnake." (Or something similar.) There was also a line about sitting on the sidewalk, with an accompanying annotation that this practice was illegal in Berkeley. The illustration I believe included a picture of a character riding a rake like a broom. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering, this show is listed on the archive: http://www.archive.org/details/gd71-12-10.sbd.yerys.1311.sbeok.shnf But there does not appear to be a downloadable version/lossless? Is that right, only streamable? Someone mentions in the posts about downloading, but I do not see any files available other than the streams? Is there another source I can look up? Thank

There's a lot of history and bad feelings and misunderstandings and water under the bridge over this issue, but the short version is that soundboard recordings are only streamable on the Archive. It looks like several versions of this show circulate, however. You might try asking around here, in appropriate places, if anyone has this show and would be willing to share. Howdy, I heard a smokin' Iko Iko last November on the XM Dead Channel but cannot figure out where it's from. I've emailed them a few times with no response. It was played on 11/12 at 9:40 a.m. and I MUST have it! Any suggestions on how to figure it out? Many thanks....

Way back before God gave us internets I was hard pressed to find the origins of Iko-Iko, having danced myself Rumplestiltskin style right into middle earth the first time I heard it live, and agian when I heard it sandwiched w/ Brother John and Man/Woman Smart. Like, what the f is a spy boy, flag boy, what's with the setting of stuff on fire in such a joyous song???I already had a decent background in Nawlin's music but only in the tunes not the history. Prof Longhair, Dr. John, The Nevilles, Toussaint, Beausoleil, All manner of Zydecos, but the Dixie cups had a killer Iko-Iko. Anyhow with the wealth of info at our fingertips we can wiki up info (true & false!) about Jocamo and feeno etc ad infinitum. The HBO show Treme has featured a lot of music I have heard from the speaker stacks at Dead shows and I LOVE it. I feel like an old hand. The Dead took me so many places around the world and up the backroads down the mountain trails and through the swamps of our own musical country I owe them and thank them so so much. Thank YOU......... for real good time as well as a great musical education. uh, this starteed as a suggestion to enjoy Treme where you will hear a bunch of good music! peace!

Hiya — I've run across some reels labeled "Dead Stanford." The first number is "Alabama Getaway." From the context, I believe the recording was made between 1976 and 1978. Can someone enlighten me with details? I tried searching by location but dead.net just throws darts at me. ;)

Interestingly, Alabama Getaway segued into Greatest Story on 10/9/82 and again on 8/20/83, both times at Frost Amphitheater, in Palo Alto. The song was first performed in late 1979.

Yeah, it is definitely not 76-79 as the Dead didn't play there those years, and as Ted says, Alabama Getaway was not performed until 1979.

I have a CD with a blueish green background a silver squiggly line all over it and the number 6 (or maybe 9?) in a small box. I bought a CD collection from a guy and there is more dead stuff than I ever could have imagined, but try as I can I can't put my fingers on what this CD is. It doesn't sound live. The first song is Ripple, followed by Cumberland Blues and the 4th song is Eyes of the World. I'd insert a picture if i could.

I have noticed that i have a wake of the flood album that is misprinted. the track list on the album says Mississippi half step, sing your blues away, row jimmy, and Stella bluebut when the album is played Stella blue is before Row jimmy. Does anybody know of any information on misprints for this album because i have checked out a couple other wake of the flood albums and can't seem to find any like mine. any information would be great! Thanks.

Borncrosseyed - I may be wrong, but I'm sure that there were some Wake of the Flood albums produced illegally, and distributed through record stores. And the GD or the official distribution company, or label, called in the FBI to put a stop to the forgeries! I could be wrong, but I'm sure I've read this somewhere. So: to be outside the law, you must be honest! And there will be another sunrise

I'm just in the very beginning stages/brainstorming a book on the concert from 5.8.77. Widely considered to be the best show the band ever played, I'm hoping to gather enough photographs, recollections and other assorted information to turn the book into an oral biography. But of a show, not a person. If you were there and would like to tell me about the show/what you recall/what you saw please be in touch. No memory is too small! Can anyone help answer this - 1st show was Capitol '78 DeadHead invite show - Fire was played standalone. Loved Scarlet/Fire but it took like 40 shows before I actually heard it live - very weird! Anyway - none of my crew ever saw Fire by itself and I know I saw it again in later years - like between 84-89. When was it - does anyone know? Thanks :)

Did happen, but not very often. Here's what I could cull out of Deadbase: 9/16/78 7/13/85 6/22/86 7/4/86 9/8/87 9/24/87 5/27/89 9/20/91 - Help/Slip/Fire There's one you don't see every day! 5/27/93 7/3/94 Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

So, new to the site, perhaps you uber experts can help: I'm certain I heard an instrumental version of Mickey Hart's The Pump Song a few years back on the radio. Now all I can find is the version with the layover of Greatest Story on it. I believe the version on Rolling Thunder has the lyrics attached to it too, but I'm not certain, as I haven't found a copy as yet. I would love to get the instrumental version, or, am I trippin? No such instrumental recorded? Thanks.

Hi! Has there been any official mention of setlists from the 1968 shows that were found in the vault for Road Trips Vol. 2 No. 2? Also, I was wondering if anyone can shed light on any of the "pitch" inperfections that have been discovered on official releases... I know that I have noticed some on the FILLMORE 69 patches and the "Alligator" on the RTV2N2 patch...

Hello, sorry if this has already been answered. I tried searching, but kept getting the unable to display page. Anyway, I'm looking for some form of database that shows when and where, as well as the total number of times each song was played I'm looking for different versions of different songs to learn Phil's parts from (I know, daunting task trying to emulate such a rare talent). I have a fairly large collection of shows in digital format, and looking at each setlist is getting to be a bit tedious. Thanks in advance for the help, Rex PS, since I'm posting in a trivia section, I may as well ask; are there are electric versions of Deep Elem Blues or New Speedway Boogie? (Performed by GD of course)

Rhunter08: yes, excellent live versions of New Speedway Boogie from the early 90's. Years tend to blend together but I want to say '91 is when they broke it out. Deer Creek if my memory serves me correctly (not when they broke it out- when I saw it). i saw it on the west coast too that fall, I'm pretty sure. But yes, NSB was played electric, usually into Drums. J.T. Gossard http://thehallucinogenicbible.blogspot.com/

bt.etree.org and www.archive.org both have the Las Vegas show. It is not in the Vindex, surprisingly, here on dead.net. Deep Elem was performed electrically after the October 1980 acoustic runs from San Francisco to New York. The 2 nights in New Orleans did not have a Deep Elem!! Check Lakeland FL from 11/28/80 sounds great. GD archivist David LeMieux just featured parts of the Glen Falls 4-14-82 show: Deep Elem is played here too. Use deadlists.com to search for the show, or the song, of your choice. New Speedway Boogie indeed was brought back in 1991!! 2/19/91, at first, with several more dates to follow, including Deer Creek and the Palace. I heard one in Salt Lake in 1995.

I'm trying to piece together some of the shows I've been to. Anyone know the dates when Led Zepplin was playing Winterland and the Dead were playing the old Fillmore? How about the date for the Winterland show that Wavy Gravy announced from stage that refreshments were being passed around "take a sip and pass it on." I don't think a lot of people heard the "sip" part :-O!!!! Seems to me Mr. Gravy may have been in a bodycast, but then my vision was fluctuating somewhat. That show might have been the Indians on Alcatraz Benefit. Any help appreciated!

Does anyone have or make tour rout maps? Of which shows they went to, when and where? Or does there exist a map of the GD's tours? By year?
