Grateful Dead Hour no. 1780
Week of October 31, 2022
First of four featuring the complete unreleased soundboard recording of 8/21/72 at the Berkeley Community Theater.
This show is special to me - it was my second Grateful Dead concert ever! I first saw the band on March 5, 1972, and I was ready to jump in right away. So when these concerts were announced, my buddy and I camped out at the San Jose Box Office and bought tickets for all three shows at this intimate high school auditorium. And when they added a fourth show, we bought tickets for that one, too. We had decent seats and I got to watch the musicians closely. It was a life-changer for sure!
Also: Wilco doing US Blues, recorded in New Orleans in October 2022. Jeff Tweedy and Nels Cline did a gig with Phil Lesh and Friends a few weeks earlier, so I guess this song stuck with 'em.
Enjoy!!
