Week of December 12, 1994
Phil Lesh brought several of his bandmates to Berkeley to play a benefit for music in that city's public schools. Phil told me in a 1981 interview that his parents moved to Berkeley from a neighboring town so their son could attend Berkeley High School and benefit from its music program - so this was a an act of kindness to repay the school's kindness to him.
"Starship Ride" features Jerry Garcia on acoustic guitar; Jerry also played on a few other tracks on Joe McDonald's 1991 album .
