    Grateful Dead Hour no. 343

    Week of April 17, 1995

    Grateful Dead 1/22/68 Eagle's Auditorium, Seattle
    ALLIGATOR

    Grateful Dead 1/20/68 Municipal Auditorium, Eureka CA
    CLEMENTINE->
    NEW POTATO CABOOSE->
    BORN CROSS-EYED->
    SPANISH JAM->
    CAUTION JAM->
    DARK STAR

    Request by Dennis Gore. Kick-ass jamming from the period that gave us Anthem of the Sun!

    "Clementine" didn't stay in the GD repertoire very long. We used the 2/2/68 performance for the boxed set So Many Roads (1965-1995); this one is cool, too.

    You can browse or search the Grateful Dead Hour program logs on the GD Hour web site. Let me know if there's a particular program you'd like to hear, and feel free to post requests and comments here or by email to gdhour@dead.net.

    Thanks for listening!

The disappointment I felt yesterday when there was no new Grateful Dead Hour posting reinforces my understanding of how much I enjoy listening to these offerings. I was very happy to see that you had managed to get the posting finished today.Thank you David. lethedoom

Real nice 68 material . The song born cross eyed always creates a sensation that sitting down , have to get up . I think the song may carry a lot of energy or something . This Jan 68 performance from Eureka , and the alligator from Seattle are swell . It makes me glad this band , even in their very early days kicked ass [ and were caught on tape for us 40 years later to enjoy , how nice ] Peace J G p.s. my only caveat is that Dark star lasts for about 2 minutes then fades off . No prob Dave . Keep these great programs rollin ' please . For us , who live thousands of miles away from the US , anything is appreciated = ) Peace & wisdom

Totally awesome recording. I can't believe it's 40 years old. Just the fact that someone had the foresight to tape these shows blows my mind. Thank you David and Dennis!!

I am getting ready to see Phil tonight at Jones Beach. What better way to get psyched than to listen to some great classic Dead! Thanks again, DG.

Phil and his band were amazing last night. Danced through the entire second set which included Dark Star and Born Cross-Eyed. Glad I listened to this Dead Hour to get psyched. I only wish Phil would let DG have some of their live stuff to feature on new GD Hours.
