Week of December 25-31, 2023
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we say goodbye to 2023 with Grateful Dead music from 1972, 1990, and 1991.
Our first stop is at the Academy Of Music in New York City on 3/27/72, the penultimate show of a week-long run before the Dead left for Europe on April 1. From this fine show we have China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider, Me And Bobby McGee, Mr. Charlie, Looks Like Rain, Deal, Hurts Me Too, Cumberland Blues.
Next is the first set from 3/22/90 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, a terrific show from its first notes to its last: Feel Like A Stranger, West L.A. Fadeaway, Easy To Love You, Beat It On Down The Line, It Must Have Been The Roses, The Last Time, Picasso Moon, Don't Ease Me In.
Lastly this week is the start of the second set from 3/24/91 in Albany with a perfect Sunday song to open: Samson And Delilah ; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Looks Like Rain ; He's Gone.
Be sure to join us here next week as we roll into 2024 with more music from the vault.
