Week of February 27-March 5, 2023
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have a triple dose of Brent-era Dead from 1980, 1985, and 1990.
Our first stop this week is the end of the second set from 5/29/80 in Des Moines, where we have this unique sequence of Space> Lost Sailor> Saint Of Circumstance> Comes A Time > Around And Around > Johnny B. Goode, with the final song being cut off due to the master cassette running out.
Next is another end of the show, this one from the Dead’s final appearance at the Rochester War Memorial, on 11/8/85, featuring Space > The Other One > I Need A Miracle > She Belongs To Me > Sugar Magnolia, Satisfaction. This was a cool set in that it opened with a Beatles song, had a Dylan song toward the end, and encored with a Stones song.
Lastly this week is the end of the show from 6/8/90 at Cal Expo, opening night of a three night stand in Sacramento, where we have The Wheel> I Need A Miracle> Black Peter> Sugar Magnolia, US Blues.
Be sure to join us next week for more tunes from the vault.
